SUMMARY:

LIVING ROOM

Dartside's solid wood floors and signature blues pay tribute to the area's nautical heritage, while the almost almond pinks of the walls give the softness of a cosy cottage. Adjacent is the anteroom with wall-filling patio doors which open onto a furnished terrace and magnificent water views through the historic cottages to the jetty and waters beyond.

ENTERTAINMENT

There is a smart TV in the living room from which you can watch streaming services such as BBC iPlayer, or premium services such as Netflix or Disney+ (registration and subscriptions required).

KITCHEN

The double-height kitchen with Velux ceiling windows elevates and brightens the space. The Shaker-style cupboards house top-quality appliances, including an Aga oven and hob, eye-level oven and grill, American-style fridge freezer, and Miele dishwasher – all making mealtimes a luxurious pleasure.

BEDROOMS

Pure, rural luxury defines the two bedrooms, nestled into the exposed beams of the eaves on the first floor. The master king-size bedroom features a standalone rolltop bath. The second bedroom features two comfortable single beds.

BATHROOM

Between the bedrooms is a pristine wet room, with a basin and heated towel rail, all framed in large, rustic earthy tiles.

GARDENS

Both gardens maximise the truly wonderful views from Dartside. The furnished decking to the front looks through ancient cottages down to the harbour. Or you can retreat into the adjacent anteroom with its antique sleigh daybed and wall-filling patio doors.

The panorama view from the rear garden is just breathtaking. Watch the boats bob on the twinkling waters from the large terrace with plenty of seating. Plus, you can rinse off a day in the sun in the outside shower room, including a WC.

Please note there is no BBQ at Dartside so you will need to bring your own disposible one

The cottage is well situated in a beautiful village, with a short walk to the water side. There is a ferry across the river to Agatha Christie's holiday home, and easily accessible nature walks. The village is charming, and the local pub is nice. The house itself is great, well stocked for cooking (be sure to familiarise yourself with an AGA oven / stove top though!). One minor thing is that in the main bedroom, the water tank is set in the wall immediately behind the headboard, and has a consistent noise (a bit like water dripping and a small plastic piece knocking about), they should consider fixing this, or just be aware if you're sensitive. The beds were comfortable, fire place was wonderful, and the views in the garden are incredible. The garden itself is massive, and has a seating area with unmatched views of the waterside, and is incredibly peaceful.

We were delighted by Dartside from the moment we walked in the cottage door. It was thoughtfully and attractively furnished and equipped with a garden terrace with amazing river views behind the property. Dart Valley Cottages gave us very clear instructions about getting to the property and we were very happy with our whole experience - especially the wall to wall sunshine!

As is nearly always the case with rental cottages, the cleanliness was not good . The oven and Aga were very dirty and the steps outside the back door obviously had not been swept for weeks. However, the main problem was that the heating had been turned off and the cottage was quite cold - 14 degrees in the morning. There was a tiny portable heater which, unfortunately, made little or no difference. The cottage is in a wonderful location and is very well equipped. The garden has stunning views and there is parking at the property so it’s a real shame that a few small things spoil an otherwise lovely property.

We loved Dartside cottage. It was so beautiful. The garden was stunning but sadly we didn't have good weather to enjoy it. The interiors were fabulous. It has been decorated and refurbished to a very high standard. All the details were beautiful. We found there were lots of kitchen items provided which the agency were not aware of. We even had logs provided which the agency didn't realise. The standard of cleaning could be improved I felt as it did not match the standard of the property. I found the kitchen shelves dirty and the sofa had hair on and crumbs. We contacted the agency with questions and received vague answers. The instructions folder and area information were all hidden in a cupboard which I found eventually. We had to sleep in separate beds as the kingsize bed wasn't long enough for my partner due to the footboard. It was lovely to be able to park outside. We really enjoyed staying at Dartside but feel some small improvements could be made to the details.

The BBQ was so dirty it was unusable. The Aga was also very dirty . Although there were only 2 of us staying so it didn’t matter but the second bedroom had nowhere to hang or lay clothes.
