Stayed Jan 1, 1We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 16 Clarence Hill. Dartmouth is a great location and we had superb weather. 16 Clarence Hill is a lovely location with the property well maintained. It was really helpful to have a parking spot right where we were staying. The house remained cool in hot weather and it was a real bonus to have access to the secret garden and use of the BBQ. The property was very comfortable for 3 of us and our dog, clean and well catered for with a well equipped kitchen. It is also really well located for Dartmouth shops and restaurants to walk to in minutes. There are 2 nearby parks for dog walking. The only negative was that the house next door is presently covered in scaffolding. This didn't really obstruct the views from the house but it did make getting our car in and out of the relatively tight parking space (on a very narrow street) tricky. Dart Valley cottages only mentioned the scaffolding when I phoned them about something else a week before our stay, which was disappointing. We were however left a nice welcome gift I assume to compensate. Things to consider before staying here: 1. The house has a lot of stairs and could be challenging for anyone with physical difficulties, especially the spiral staircase up to the attic area and bathroom 2. Parking a large SUV in the parking spot would be very difficult. We managed OK with a small/medium SUV 3. If you want to park the car and walk everywhere this is a great and convenient location

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was our 3rd visit over a period of 8 years. Much as we enjoyed our holiday we have to say that the furnishings in the property are looking a little tired and could do with an update to bring it back up to the standard anticipated from previous holidays. We unplugged the toaster as it smelt of burning when switched on. It does need to be replaced. Being older now we would recommend that the flight of stairs from lounge to bedroom area covered in nonslip surface as they can be quite slippery underfoot. We It was a little sad to see the garden looking rather neglected and overgrown. As keen gardeners we were itching to tidy round! We would still recommend this property to others due to the magnificent views from the property, it’s convenience to the hub of Dartmouth and having private parking.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Would 100% recommend a stay at this property. The design and decor has been really thought through. A beautiful home that has everything you'll need for a comfortable holiday. The bubbles and other treats were a real bonus, including the secret garden. The owners clearly care about the people staying at their home enjoing the whole experience. Views are wonderful and just a short walk away from town. However, it is quite hilly and there are lots of steps, including stairs in property. A bonus for me as need to keep fit. Got talking to some neighbours who were very helpful about the roads, which can be quite nerve racking in some places, and also happy to make recommendations about where to go. There are so many great things to do in Dartmouth. I Wo uld definitely recommend Coleton fishacre, an art deco property over at Kingswear.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The house was gorgeous, exactly as described, it was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The garden is delightful, on warm evenings it provides a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy the views of Dartmouth and the river. A fantastic place to spend a week in South Hams and the communication by Dart Valley Cottages was comprehensive and very helpful. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Stunning property with lovely welcoming touches. It's very central with incredible views of Dartmouth, Kingswear and the river. Lots of steps but obviously that's the price you pay for the amazing views. Good to also have the garden area which is private with space to sit, or sunbathe and a conservatory if the weather's cooler or wet. We had a fabulous week and would definitely visit again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Skinny House was everything we’d hoped for from the moment we opened the front door ! It was beautiful and extremely well appointed inside. From the modern well equipped kitchen to the fabulous lounge with the most stunning views across Dartmouth . There was absolutely nothing else one could wish for from this delightful house. Extremely comfortable, modern and bright . A 5 minute walk down some steps into the centre of town. The secret garden opposite the house , down some steps , is well hidden and an absolute treasure. We felt like we were in paradise sitting there. The house has 2 flights of stairs so you need to be fit , but well worth the exercise. I’d definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a holiday in Dartmouth.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We really enjoyed our stay, the view from the property is wonderful. Stayed over New Year and loved all the Christmas lights around the house and the champagne in the fridge! The house is so well designed it doesn’t appear so narrow, we loved it.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Stayed here for a week, house is very quirky and like a tardis. Big rooms, everything you need and fantastic little garden as a bonus. Only negatives are the fact that there is a lot of stairs in this house. Each staircase is longer than your average one and the one to the bathroom up the top is scary. It’s all part of the quirkiness of the house though. Parking is also a bit of an issue, yes there is a small parking space and if next door are in it’s very difficult to get in and out. We didn’t move much during the week but once we did and parked overnight in the town to save any issues. Wouldn’t recommend for elderly visitors, access to the town is steep roads or a lot of steps (70, we counted every time) we were fine but might struggle in a few years! Anywhere in Dartmouth though is a climb! I’d stay here again without doubt and Dart Valley Cottages were again amazing!
