As part of a beautiful, five-star cottage complex (there are just four other boutique-style properties here) with three acres of tranquil gardens and an arboretum, it offers an idyllic setting for enjoying nature and boasts an on-site spa and swimming pool available for your exclusive use, for that opulent ‘cherry on the cake'.brThe spacebrThe cottage offers a calm retreat for two. Almost every wall, floor and surface is coloured white, or a shade of off-white, whilst strategically placed pieces of artwork offer interesting focal points.brbrThe kitchen/dining area is open-plan and features an island work area for prepping, appliances including a double oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, plus pots and pans. There is also a dining table and chairs for two.brbrFrom the dining area, there are a few steps up to a mezzanine level where you'll find the lounge which has a contemporary gas fire and a Smart TV with Freeview and Netflix built-in. The cottage also features music control pads and Bluetooth technology so that you can play songs from your own collection, or stream music.brbrYour outdoor space is accessed via the French doors that lead to a patio with table and chairs, as well as a BBQ.brbrThe bedroom has a super-king-size bed, a Smart TV and an en-suite bathroom that is very luxurious with not only a shower, but also a two-person bath and even a TV so that you can watch a movie whilst you take a long soak.brbrThere is also space in the bedroom for a travel cot which makes the cottage a good option if you have a baby to bring along.brbrFor nature-lovers, there's a ‘nature spotter diary' for noting sightings of wildlife, with a selection of bird and nature guides to-hand to help you identify species. On a clear evening, we recommend requesting some stargazing equipment to be dropped off at the cottage, wrapping up warm and seeing what magical things you can spot in the night sky.brGuest accessbrIf you arrive before 7pm you will be met by a member of staff who will show you to your cottage and how everything works. For later arrivals, there is self-check-in, but a member of staff will welcome you the following morning. The cottage also has a dedicated parking area.brSustainabilitybrThe complex on which The Shippon Cottage is situated is committed to minimising its environmental impact and caring for the surrounding countryside. It has a private water supply, while renewable biomass and solar power is generated on site. Recycling facilities include guest composting bins for food waste, while bark chippings are created in the grounds and used in the garden borders. There's also a tree-planting programme, whilst nature is encouraged to thrive through measures like adding plants and wildflowers that attract pollinators including bees and butterflies. Meanwhile, eco-friendly cleaning products are used where possible and items included in welcome hampers are sourced locally.brbrWe plant a tree for every booking we make to help offset some of the carbon emissions generated by our stays.brKeep in mindbrCheck-in: from 15:00brCheck-out: by 10:00brbrDeposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 70 days before the date of travel.brbrAccidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 prior to their stay.
