Keys to the Beach is a beautifully decorated, comfortable 3/2 raised beach house with a fully loaded kitchen, 5 TV's, cable, internet in the wonderful 39 home beach community of Heritage Shores with 2 pools, tennis and basketball...all in a 3 minute walk to beach access to the pristine and pet friendly Ft. Morgan beach and a view of the bay from the back deck. You'll notice our extra attention to details in everything from quality linens, generous check in supplies, covered downstairs lounge area, beach supplies, abundance of kitchen utensils, paper towels, napkins and condiments and lots of personal contact from your host to provide you with everything you need to know or want to ask about the area. This is island life away from high rises and high density areas but with several close restaurants, convenience store shopping and still 20-25 minutes from the mainstream Gulf Shores area...perfect combination of relaxation and convenience. The master has a king bed and on suite bathroom. Other bedrooms have a king and two double beds, sharing the hall bath. All bedrooms have louvered blinds and drapes to keep out light for sleeping late! The dining room table seats 8 with room for another 3 more at the large kitchen island. Large 52 living room TV with a 42 in each bedroom. Roku TV downstairs in furnished bonus area. West facing back deck is perfect for viewing remarkable sunsets. Fort Morgan also is a favorite place for fishermen. At the end of the street in front is the glorious Gulf of Mexico with beach access slightly to the East, a very short walk even for kids! It's a great family resort area that makes people come back year after year! We fell in love with it there because it really does feel special to not be sardined into a high rise, wait for elevators but have a full and expansive view of the beach and the sky without interruption instead. Under the house is another seating area we call the Mermaid Lounge, furnished and decorated, which is great for conversation while using the grill, playing corn hole or electronic darts for some good family time. There is also ping pong and air hockey as well as Roku TV. We have had nothing but compliments on the house and locations. It’s a beautiful ride across Mobile Bay and provides great views of Fort Morgan. The Dauphin Island ferry dock is located conveniently close to wonderful attractions like Fort Gaines and the Estuarium.brbrVisit Fort Gaines – While you are on Dauphin Island, visit this historic fort which paid a significant role during the Civil war. It’s open for self-guided tours of the grounds, several buildings, and the cannons.brbrDauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium – This is a great place for an educational experience. With over 19 miles of trails, you will learn about the coastal habitats and wildlife that call this area home. You can also visit their on-site sea turtle rehabilitation center and research library. For a deeper education experience, book a marine educator-led aquarium tour with your kids.brbrKaraoke and Dinner at Tacky Jacks – Tacky Jack’s, located next to Fort Morgan Marina, is a fun place for family-friendly entertainment and waterfront dining. A local favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with live karaoke on Thursday and Saturday nights.brbrVisit the Gulf State Park – This large state park in Gulf Shores offers trails, a beach, fishing pier, and more! Be sure to stop by the lodge for a drink while you’re there – the sunset views from this hotel are absolutely gorgeous.brbrVisit Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve – Located in Fairhope, Weeks Bay has plenty of opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing here. A walk through the reserve’s wetlands and marsh along the well-maintained paths is highly recommended.brbrVisit the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach – A beautiful art museum displaying area artists is a great stop is not far away from the beach. Check the class schedule for art classes, as well events in the glass blowing and clay studios.brbrVisit Mobile Alabama – This historic city is full of history dating back to the Civil War era. There are plenty of things to do in Mobile during your visit including visiting some great museums and restaurants. If you want to see the third of the area’s historic forts, visit Colonial Fort Conde which is on the National Register of Historic Places.brbrAvailable all year. Almost 24 hours a day. Palm trees outside home. A pool is to the right just as you enter and pass the security stand. This cottage will be over the bridge and turn left and it will be located on the right. A community house and second pool is very close, the pool is behind this house which is the more family friendly pool. Bring floats and chairs if all the seating is gone at the pool but it's highly unlikely unless there is a family reunion going on. Parking is available at the second pool or it's just a short walk from the cottage.brbrAt night you just may hear the frogs sing to you or maybe if you're lucky a baby alligator.brbrRenting golf carts is very common here . Island Cart Rentals or Coastal Cart Rentals are very popular cart rentals.brA lot of people like to bike ride, bring your own, or Fort Morgan Beach Rentals has them and they also offer chairs, tents, kayaks etc.brbrIt is about a 10 min walk to the beach, even though it’s directly across the street, it’s just the way the access points are to get there. There is a public car park and you can also park along Cortez Street . Bring your skate-boards bring your scooters the streets by the beach are nice and smooth. Gulf State park is popular for a bike ride. Bike rental is available there

Everyone loves renting golf carts as Rookery 3 has trails you can go down which take you directly to the beach. The kids love it ! Some people drive on the bike path or on the sand path on the side of the road also to get to the beach. Easy drive to the grocery store and restaurant, Sassy Bass, on the golf cart as ours is road registered. If you have the right insurance you can do that too. brbrBring your bikes with you to the Rookery 3 and ride as there is a bike path on the side of the road. Gulf State park also has bike paths. We have lots of bike trails in the area. Bring your kayaks and go for a trip down mobile bay or off the Kayak paths on Fort Morgan Road. This area is full of adventures, but Rookery3 gives you the peace of mind, calmness, security and comfort of letting your kids out to play without being on guard 24/7 . It’s such a great community. We are all family here .brbrWe are located 20 minutes form Orange Beach. Fort Morgan has several restaurants and shops. 3 miles from Kiva Dunes Golf Course and The Beach Club Spa and restaurants. 4 miles from the Marina and 6 miles from the Ferry to Dauphin IslandbrbrEnjoy dolphin cruises, tiki cruises, pirate ships, trampoline park, go to alligator alley or the zoo. Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests troubleshooting it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though, and likely better since its close in and new construction!brbrSOAPS, TOWELS, COFFEE, ETC ETCbrAs with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a starter supply of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). You will want to bring beach towels or beach chairs as well. Because mgt cos will not generally support them, grills are not provided, though they are sometimes inherited from prior guests: your mileage may vary on this, and we usually assess and then go snag a small charcoal kettle when we come down ourselves. Also of note: at many locations, you may find the bunk beds (and certain other beds) are not fully made--instead a bedding pack is provided. This is a common practice for the local management companies, which is both green (if the bedding is not used, it doesn't have to be laundered) AND more sanitary--housekeeping does not have to crawl on the bunks and so on to make the beds.
