With that said, it is not a newer property. It has been loved by many. It doesn't have granite countertops. It still has popcorn ceiling. The showers are smaller than what you would expect with a newer property. So, if you are expecting a designer home, you may not be happy here. The main living area boasts airy 20+ foot ceilings, and the second floor has generous 10 foot ceilings. Because of this, Marilynn’s Cottage is extra light and bright, and seems larger than most 3-bedroom spaces. The house is refreshed frequently by the owners. Some examples of recent replacements are: new kitchen cabinets, TV’s, dishwasher, stove, air conditioning unit, all new living room furniture, new mattresses, replaced bedding, replaced deck chairs, and a repaint out and inside. brbrLiving: Marilyn's Cottage is perfect for multi-generational or family friends with kids. Each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom, a seldom-seen feature for a 3-bedroom--- so you don’t have to share your bathroom with the kids while you’re on vacation! Upstairs in the master bedroom, there is an amazing view from its private balcony. This is our favorite sunset happy hour spot! In the upstairs bunk room, there are two sets of bunk beds - that sleep up to six people, along with an en-suite bath with tub. In the main level guest bedroom, there is easy access to the living space without having to climb any stairs. This is perfect for grandparents or little ones. There is one sleeper sofas in the living room, perfect those early risers or ones that make a lot of noise in the morning before you have had your first cup of coffee. There is plenty of furniture on the deck - along with a large picnic table for you and your family to enjoy. Finally, there is a convenient shower right off the beach - so you can wash the sand and salt water off before coming back inside to relax with your favorite beverage.brbrAppliances and Kid Stuff: course not everyone likes to cook when they’re on vacation, but the people who stay at MC are famous for cooking up meals in our well-stocked kitchen. There is one stove, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker/Keurig, and crock pot. There is a wet bar that is perfect for making iced drinks out of the way of the kitchen. The washer and dryer are large capacity - which is great when those laundry stacks start to pile up because you are relaxing. We also have a high chair, baby gate, and pack-and-play (for you to use your own linens). A special feature of the house is our toy closet, with trains, legos, books, games, and dolls. brbrLocation: The real estate rule is location, location, location and this place has all three. MC is located on West Beach, right on the gulf, in walking distance past the lagoon bridge. There are private dunes right outside your door, with a private volleyball area. brbrA little about us---Imagine the sound of waves gently lapping on the shore and the most gorgeous sunsets mother nature has to offer. This is the reason we bought this home. It is dedicated to the memory of our mother, Marilynn, who passed away in 2014. After her husband died at a young age, she raised 9 children on her own, giving them and everyone around her a happy, blessed life. She would have loved this house. This little cabin is an original Bay cabin that has been well cared for. It is full of original artwork and photographs, many done by our local Gulf Coast artists. The property is located on Bon Secour Bay which is across the street ( .5 mi) from the beautiful sugar sand beach of the Gulf of Mexico. It is the only dog friendly beach on the Fort Morgan Peninsula. Well behaved, leashed dogs, with responsible owners are welcome! We are 10 miles from downtown Gulf Shores, where you can find a zoo, amusement parks, live music, tons of restaurants, miniature golf, souvenir shops, etc. There is also an outlet center nearby in Foley if you want to shop! A boat ramp is just up the road to put in your small boat or jetski. Or put your kyack in right over the sea wall! There is a kayak rental place down the street which will deliver. brbrThe washer and dryer are located up in the shed with beach chairs and toys. The cottage has a large screened porch with a large picnic table. It is the perfect place to pick some crabs and shell some peas, and watch the kids try to catch fish or crabs on the pier in the shallow waters of the bay. If you are looking for an old fashioned beach vacation, near attractions, but off the beaten, this is the place for you to unwind after a day at the beach. Hang your towels on the clothesline, rinse off under the outdoor shower, then relax under the ceiling fan on the porch which is shaded with trees laden with Spanish moss. Just a perfect romantic getaway or for a couple or a family with small children. brbrbrFamily owned property since the 1950's: I purchased this property from my mom in 2004. My stepdad was a professor at University of Alabama built 'the cabin' when he wasn't fishing! In 2005 I put a new roof on it, updated electric, put in a heat pump, and covered it with hardiplank. Although it still retains its charm, it is more energy efficient! Two flat screen tv's. We removed the tile and installed a waterproof laminate - so far guest feedback has been very positive. We also replaced the roof in 2021, and the ocean-side windows in 2020. It never ends! brbrFamily-friendly, clean and very unique as it is surrounded by palm trees and other Gulf Coast vegetation. Large screen television with DVD and Roku (streaming). There are no paid-for television channels (streaming only). brbrGuests frequently rent both sides of the Duplex (Dolphin West and Sea Turtle East) if they wish to have more bedrooms, yet have two separate living areas (one side for Grandparents, and the other side for young children, etc.) - total capacity on both sides is 20, with six bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
