Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. We had a really great time at Mill Moor, it really suited my husband who is in a wheelchair as he could move easily around it. it was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely use it again.

The only thing I’ve marked this cottage down for is the location but that is only because of the restrictions caused by the closure of the bridge over the Eamont in Pooley Bridge. The scheduled opening of the brand new bridge was for the weekend after we left. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Cottage was spotless and perfect for 6 of us and our two dogs. The beds were comfortable. Cottage was in a great location on a farm and we could walk to Pooley Bridge over the fields. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We loved our stay at Mill Moor, it was very cosy and welcoming (and very very clean on arrival). Downstairs facilities including the walk in shower are prefect for anyone with mobility issues. We found the cottage very well equipped for cooking meals, especially as we didn't really want to eat out. Lots of extra things there that we would normally have to buy for a week away like hand wash, hand sanitiser, dishwasher tablets, toilet roll, cooking oil, salt, pepper etc..... Plenty of room for all of us, and our teenagers loved the fact that they didn't have to share a room. Lovely owners there to help with anything, thanks so much for the little extras (fresh flowers, cake, tea, milk on arrival). Last but not least, the fresh farm eggs are delicious! We will be returning. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Mill Moor is one of 3 cottages at Barton Hall Farm. There are 4 bedrooms and this cottage sleeps 7. On the ground floor, accessible for wheelchair user, is a twin-bedded room, next to a walk-in shower and loo. Upstairs are 2 large double bedrooms, a single, and a bathroom with bath and loo. The large comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove is good to relax in and central heating keeps the cottage warm. There is access to an outside garden with views across to the fells and mountains. Very easy via A66 to access Bassenthwaite, Buttermere and the Eden Valley. We used the car park in Pooley Bridge to start a walk along Ullswater to Howtown. New Pooley Bridge due to open end of October but it’s easy to go round on the diversion to access Glenridding etc. Amanda and Nigel very welcoming as ever. Fresh flowers, cake etc on arrival. A peaceful and quiet place to escape for a week’s break. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Excellent spacious cottage with good parking. We were unfortunate that the bridge at Pooley Bridge was closed when we were there, hence our lower mark for location but this will not be a problem after October. Friendly owners have created a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The only downside is rather creaky floorboards! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We enjoyed our holiday at Mill Moor. Spacious bedrooms, but if there are the full 7 people there's not quite so much living room. One twin bedroom is on the ground floor, so good for people who have difficulty with stairs. Usually there is good access to the Lakes, but work on Pooley Bridge means a short detour at the moment. Recommended. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely holiday cottage, with friendly owners. The only thing for me was it didn’t have direct access to a garden for the dog. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Having only viewed the cottage on the internet you never really know what you are going to get. However, there was absolutely no cause for concern. It was immaculately clean, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The heating system in place ensured we were kept very warm night and day if required. We had a very warm welcome from Amanda Strong as soon as we arrived and she had even placed some home baked cookies in the kitchen along with some milk and tea bags which were very welcome after the drive. Apart from the cottage itself there was also a well equipped laundry and even a shower in the barn to wash your muddy boots or, your dog should you wish to do so. The farm was centrally placed to enable easy access to Pooley Bridge and Penrith as well as the motorway to take you further afield. Excellent base for some really lovely walks too if you didn't want to use your car. We had the larger cottage which slept seven people but should we go back (which we fully intend to do so) either as a couple or with two others there were cottages available to accommodate smaller numbers which were equally as good. We could not have wished nor, wanted for more and will not hesitate to return and recommend it to all of our friends.
