Located just outside Lymington in the Hampshire village of Everton with a well regarded pub and a community shop that caters for most daily requirements. The surrounding countryside forms some of the best in the area moving from pastoral farmland between the village and the sea to the open heathland of the New Forest National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Well known for its excellent walking and being the ideal place to enjoy tranquil days out, with rambling, cycling and golf available.

Wild ponies and cattle roam the lanes and streets, and there are many picturesque villages to discover with gift shops, cafés, and restaurants serving cream teas. There are also vineyards and farm shops where you can try the local wine and produce. There are beautiful sandy swimming beaches to visit at Bournemouth, Sandbanks Studland Bay, the nearest being at Milford-on-Sea with glorious views to the Isle of Wight as well as a range of superb restaurants, a wine bar and deli clustered around the village green. The historic market town of Lymington is just over 2 miles to the east and has many boutiques, eateries, ice cream parlours, tea rooms and inns. It also has crazy golf, great fun for all the family, and is known for its cobbled streets leading down to the quayside with a delightful old harbour. Places to visit include Exbury Gardens, Beaulieu Motor Museum, and the riverside village of Buckler’s Hard and Christchurch Priory.

Within easy driving distance and great for family days out are Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum and Highcliffe Castle. Discover Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coastline, or visit Corfe Castle, Stonehenge, Winchester or Salisbury cathedrals. Marwell Zoo and Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World also make for great days out. If all this isn’t enough, you can even set sail and take a day trip by car ferry to the Isle of Wight from Lymington or Southampton. There is also a mainline railway station at Brockenhurst approximately 7 miles to the north which provides direct services to London Waterloo. Beach 2¼ miles.

We had a lovely stay at Oakwood. The house is perfectly equipped for families. It was very quiet but close to where we needed to be. We had a good Sunday roast at the recommended Old MillPub. Lovely welcome basket of treats and helpful handbook of information. We would highly recommend.

Oakwood is a house that is comfortable and well equipped, and in a very good location for exploring the local sights in Hampshire and Dorset, being close to the Dorset border. It's situated under two hours drive from London, so ideal for a break away if you want a short travel time and a change of scene. There is a garden centre at the end of the road, which serves a great breakfast and lunch / afternoon dinner, plus the small farm shop, there, is great for a few fresh vegetables and local products. I can recommend the Braxton Tea Rooms, which is within walking distance from the house.
