Sunset Lion Mountain Cabin near a Lake & Vineyards

Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, United States

Relax to the mountain breeze and sounds of nature in this cozy cabin. Located 1 mi to the Appalachian Trail, 3 min drive to the lake and a 15 min drive to Charles Town & vineyards.brbrEnjoy spectacular sunset views from the expansive front deck, living and dining rooms, firepit and hammock. Enjoy the propane grill, outdoor table & chairs and firepit.brbrUnwind in the living room with vaulted ceilings, recliners and games. Downstairs bedroom and bathroom, upstairs includes one bedroom and a loft.brbrThe CabinbrThis Shannondale original log cabin kit open-concept home includes two bedrooms with a double and king bed plus a connected loft space with a queen bed. There are no doors on the upper bedrooms, but a privacy curtain between the loft and master bedroom.brbrThe bathroom has a shower, toilet and bidet. The kitchen is fully stocked and wifi is very fast (300 mbps).brbrWall units provide heat and A/C to the downstairs and bedrooms. The whole house also has a great radiant heating system and wood stove for the winter.brbrThe living room has a 65 TV, Roku, DVD player with DVDs and a chest full of games. The two recliners and sofa couch are plush and comfortable for relaxation.brbrThe dining room has seating for 6 and a bookcase.brbrThe well water has a water-softening system and is fresh & tasty.brbrOutside the home has many wonderful features including a large porch with views of the valley, outdoor furniture, hammock and firepit.brbrGuest accessbrGuests have access to the entire home, driveway and backyard. There are locked basement, owner's closets, and locked linens cabinet that are not for guest access.brbrOther things to notebrDo note, our cabin is on a mountain, which means you may see deer, woodpeckers, butterflies, lots of birds, and the occasional bear - be careful about leaving food outside! That said, bugs are everywhere and a part of the natural environment. We have regular pest treatments and try to keep exterior doors and windows closed to prevent nature from coming inside. As a heavily wooded area, allergens are also everywhere and vary seasonally.brbrIn the winter, we strongly recommend 4WD or AWD to navigate the last portion of the paved road uphill and flat gravel road to the home.brbrWe encourage you to explore and enjoy nature - just mind the steepness of the rocky terrain. Hikers do get lost on the Appalachian Trail, so we do encourage you to prepare and practice safe hiking.

If the police respond to a noise complaint, every individual on the property may face a misdemeanor criminal charge and be subject to a fine by the county of $300. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without refund. brbrPast noise complaints have always come from groups of 20-somethings. Complete terms regarding the guest verification are provided in the lodging agreement, and can be provided sooner upon request.brbrNO PETS: No exceptions, sorry. Please don't ask whether we can allow your perfectly house-trained, hypoallergenic labradoodle to join because we can't :-)brbrDOG ALLERGY WARNING: While we do not allow pets, there have been dogs in this house before. Those with severe dog allergies may want to find a different place to stay.brbrSTEEP ROADS: Please be aware that the roads up to the top of the mountain and the driveway to the property can be very steep. In the snow it can be difficult to access the property. At all other times access is not difficult, but driving on steep mountain roads may make some people nervous. If that sounds like you, it might be better to reserve a property that is not along the top of the Blue Ridge. Steep mountain roads are often what it takes to get incredible views like the ones from this cabin, and those who can manage the drive won't be disappointed!brbrREMOTE LOCATION: Please be aware that this cabin is a good 20 min drive from the nearest full-service grocery store. If you're looking for seclusion, this is it! But if you prefer being close to store then this may not be the place for you.brbrSNOW-INS: During the winter, four wheel drive, snow tires/chains, and a car with good clearance are HIGHLY recommended in the event of a snow storm or heavy rain, as there is a good chance that a significant snow storm could restrict access in and out of the house. You need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the house early.brbrBUGS: This is a house in the woods--that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are careful some of those bugs will find their way into the house. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Please also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food.brbrWAIVER OF LIABILITY FOR USE OF HOT TUB : The hot tub remains open year round. If you use the hot tub it is your responsibility to ensure the water remains chemically balanced and safe to use before you use it. Jefferson Rock (distance from house - 20 mins): Located within the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Jefferson Rock is a scenic viewpoint named after Thomas Jefferson, who visited the area in 1783 and admired the view. It's a more rugged park with excellent trails for varying skill levels, including the Catoctin Mountain Trail and Blue Ridge Trail.brbrbrbrHarpers Ferry is a blend of adventure, entertainment, history, and nature.
