Steam Shower Hot Tub-Fabulous Views! In & Out Fireplaces-Free Wood-444+ reviews!

Taos, New Mexico, United States

Casita Ave Maria is everyone's favorite. She is a 900-square foot, OPEN designed casita that was created and built by the Clancys. Casita Ave Maria has over 444 positive reviews. NEW MEXICO SAFE CERTIFIED.brbrCasita Ave Maria showcases a radiused front wall that opens up the floor space and makes the large kiva fireplace a focal point. David Clancy sculpted the incredible kiva and colored it with the perfect hue to offset it on the adobe-colored plaster that adorns all the walls. Natural wood cabinets shaped and built by David, knotty pine doors and tongue and groove ceilings wrap their warmth around you as you sit in this spiritual space and gaze out the Southern windows at the canyon, the Southwestern windows at the valley below and amazing sun sets or the mountains from the Eastern patio. Our casita is private and you have the entire patio and hot tub for your use only.brbrThe original design of this casita boasts a HUGE patio on the Southern side, a serpentine-paved patio edged with decorative block piers with lighting insets. The Southwestern side hosts a large patio which can be accessed out the bedroom door. A 6-person hot tub and grand, outdoor fireplace await your arrival on this side and you can sit in the hot tub and marvel at the valley and canyon views, watch the sun rise and set, or count the shooting stars at night.brbrTalavera-tile adorns the kitchen cupboards and kitchen island. Brick-paved flooring with RADIANT FLOOR HEATING warm every step you take in this precious space. All NEW, stainless steel appliances await your use. Large, stackable washer and dryer is in its own closet.brbrThe bedroom area is in the OPEN area of the entire casita but tucked away in the SouthWest side of the open space. Air-conditioning added July 2022.brbrA door to the SouthWest patio is off of the bedroom area making quick visits to and from the hot tub or the outdoor fireplace delightfully easy!! Pets are welcome with a pet fee. $150.00 minimum for one pet for a maximum of a week. We strongly prefer only one pet--there is no fenced in yard. Please let us know the breed of your dog when booking.brbrSpirit-soothing STEAM shower is stunningly slate-tiled with a glass door that encloses you in what we call the ''Enchanted Cave'' shower. Steam and dream away!brbrStarting supplies of wood are supplied for your use in both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces, basic start-ups of some spices, laundry and dish soap and paper products are supplied for your pleasure. Exterior camera on driveway/parking area.brbrDog/Pet Fee-$150 minimum pet fee for one dog up to one week.brbrEveryone loves Casita Ave Maria! You will, too!brbrWe highly recommend Travel Insurance-we don't travel without it. #HO-25-2018-Permit number. Also of note-Winter 2025 we had little moisture. As a result, we often have red flag warnings as it is extremely dry-high fire danger. If the weather conditions are dry during your stay, indoor and outdoor fires will not be allowed. However, if we get sufficient moisture before and during your stay… They may be possible. Since we can’t predict the weather, this changes day to day.

Rural appeal yet so close to town

Taos, New Mexico, United States

This property is truly one of a kind in Taos-perhaps anywhere. The main house is a wonderful old adobe on two pastoral acres down a country road surrounded by trees, lawns and gardens just across the road from the Rio Pueblo. It has a remote and private feel and yet is less than a five minute drive to the Plaza and 30 minutes from world class skiing. You are entertained by stars and coyotes at night, roosters, the neighbors' donkey and church bells in the morning and birds all day long. The house is the true essence of southwest decor. The walls have a soft, buttermilk/beeswax sheen. Dark beamed ceilings and wood floors throughout are complimented by antique furnishings, native rugs, original art and many amazing and creative touches. It is a small home, perfect for a couple although it does have a second bedroom with its own private bath for two couples traveling together. Both bedrooms have queen size beds.br Enter from the covered portal into a kitchen fully equipped for all your cooking needs. If I don't have it, you probably don't need it! The living room is warm and inviting. A gas log stove in the corner provides central heat, but the wood burning kiva fireplace sets the tone. Ample firewood is located in a wood box just outside the kitchen door. Roku tv offers local channels and Netflix. All you need for a quiet evening at home. In fact most guests spend more time here relaxing than they do out adventuring. The master/primary bedroom has an antique brass and iron queen size bed with down comforters and lots of pillows and good bedside reading lights. The large walk in closet opens to a hot tub under an 60' elm tree. There two full bathrooms in the home One has a deep tub/shower. The other is a walk in shower. The second bedroom has a new queen bed. and original art.brThe outdoor patio is furnished with teak garden furniture, a fireplace and BBQ grill. The yard is enchanting even in winter. Towering cottonwood trees line one side of the property above the numerous out buildings. There is a large lawn and an orchard of mature apple, apricot, plum and pear trees. The many garden beds were lovingly planted by the owner ( a professional landscaper) and are surrounded by many tall trees and a flowing acequia.brThis property was once the home of Taos writer John Nichols of 'Milagro Beanfield War' fame which was written in what is now a two room guest we casita (Also available for 2-4 additional guests at additional rate.) However, this property is described in virtually all of John's books both fiction and non fiction in great detail. John was a friend and loved visiting and sharing colorful stories of his time living here. brThere are fun and fanciful touches to delight throughout the property from the turquoise Willy's planter truck in the front pasture to the whimsical gardens and the outdoor art everywhere. The two story tree house is a fun day time getaway for all ages. So much to explore here! brThere is also a two room casita/guesthouse across the driveway with two double beds, lights and heat for additional guests. Guests here can take advantage of the two full baths inside the main house--towels and robes provided . Additional $25 per person per night by prior arrangement. Can be left at check outbr Charming outdoor restroom. Shower in main house. For the adventurous the tree house and an Airstream trailer are delightful summer spaces. The tree house has two twins on main floor and a queen in the loft. There is a shaded deck with pasture views. It is built around a huge heritage apple tree. ($25 per person per night) adults or children with parental supervision only. br The Airstream is 1971 vintage with lots of privacy in the back pasture. Big covered porch with mountain views. The interior has been fully remodeled and has a double bed in front room and a twin down the hallway. ($25 per person per night) and your own private restroom. Shower in main house. br***Please note that when you rent the main house, the whole two acre property is yours and I do not rent out any of the other spaces during your stay. Something guests love so much about my home is the privacy.brThis property has appeared in Enchanted Homes, New Mexico Magazine and Green New Mexico. It was also featured on the Taos Home and Garden tour.brAs with all of my properties, this is dog friendly for well behaved dogs and conscientious owners. Dog sheets to cover furniture and beds provided. Mutt mitts in box on tree for clean up. $10 charge per dog per night. May be left at departure. There is also a 50% discount for stays of a month or more and a per stay pet fee per pet. brIt must be seen to be believed. It is truly magical.brbrKeywords: Private, yet convenient amazingly comfortable, peaceful and eclectic, fun, whimsicalbrbrPLEASE NOTE: Even if my calendar is already reserved for your dates for this home please look at Vrbo 255317, Vrbo 482097 or Vrbo 860840 all two or three bedroom homes I own in Taos.
