Private Vacation Home
A cozy cottage with a beautiful view of a small private lake
Brimson, Minnesota, United States
Here in this quiet rural neighborhood, feel relaxed and at home. An hour north of Duluth, and a half hour from the North Shore of Lake Superior, the possibilities for day trips abound!brbrWiFi , movies, board games, a dart board, and a pool table for your indoor relaxation time.brbrLocated on a small private lake, for summertime fun, feel free to use the kayaks, canoe, or paddleboat.brbrPLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE RESERVING YOUR STAY. Thank you! :-)brbrYour home-away-from-home is situated on an acre of property that boasts the best view of Big Stone Lake. Head for the Northwoods here, and get away for awhile. brbrYou are welcome to use anything on site during your stay! A canoe 2 kayaks, and paddle boat with life jackets of all sizes are on site waiting for you. The charcoal grill and utensils are at your disposal as are lawn chairs to sit by the campfire. brbrThe house sleeps 6 comfortably with 2 main-level bedrooms. One has 2 twin-size beds. The other has 1 full-size bed. All bedding is changed and laundered between guests. The bathroom is also on the main level and offers a shower. A bath towel and washcloth is provided for each guest. brbrExtra towels for outside/beach for your use are stored in a bin downstairs. The basement level bedroom has a queen-size bed and a game room area equipped with a pool table and electronic dart board. brbrAlso before you book: The WiFi service is excellent, but your cellphone may become sketchy (Anything AT&T works ok). Also, although it is not the ends of the earth, local "attractions" such as Gooseberry and Split Rock Lighthouse are not in the backyard. Those of us who live here think nothing of driving to the North Shore or Duluth for the day (or every day). We also think nothing of driving to the Iron Range or Ely and back. However, I would like to insist that all potential guests study a map. I sincerely don't want my guests to arrive and feel that the description was deceptive. brbrThat said, most of the popular destinations are an hour or less from the house. Two Harbors is 30 minutes away. Gooseberry Falls And Split Rock Lighthouse are about 45 minutes away, and the Alpine Slide and gondola ride at Lutsen Mts are a gorgeous hour-and-a-half drive away. brbrFor instance, from this location, you could enjoy a quiet drive into Two Harbors. From there, you could travel north on Highway 61 and enjoy Lake Superior views all the way to Gooseberry and Split Rock Lighthouse or the Superior Trail and all the stops in-between. That would be a very nice day trip with time to stop and see the harbors in Two Harbors and enjoy lunch and dinner -- or pack your meals! Use the kitchen and those amenities to your advantage. Many guests in the last few years have decided to avoid the crowds and have used their food budget on groceries to make fantastic take-along meals. This area lends itself to those who want to plan fun tailgate picnics at pretty spots during the day. brbrOn another day, plan a drive down Highway 44 perhaps (or go back around Two Harbors) south into Duluth. See the canal and lift bridge, maybe Hawk's Ridge, Park Point, or experience some of the great trails Duluth offers. Past guests have appreciated being able to return "home" at the end of a busy day in Duluth to relax and unwind.brbrHowever, you might be someone who wants to come here, and stay put! Maybe you don't want to go anywhere. Just stay and relax. Take a walk down the gravel road. I had guests who happened to see a moose down the road as they were walking, and they were so excited! brbrHere are some more real benefits of staying here: brbrSkiers: Mother Bear Ski Trails (Classic) are 5 minutes away; Erkki Ski Trails are 30 minutes away in Two Harbors; Korkki Nordic Ski Center is 45 minutes away nearer Duluth.brbrSnowmobilers: Jump on the area's extensive snowmobile trails a stone's throw from the driveway. brbrGolfers: Lakeview National Golf Course is 30 minutes away in Two Harbors.brbrThe area is served by 911 service and a local VFD and EMTs.brbrSmoking outdoors only.brbrNo shoes indoors. brbrNo pets indoors or outdoors. No exceptions.brbr
