The gardens are specially cultivated to encourage and shape native plant growth.brbrFollowing the stone path to the front door, you’ll enter into an ample foyer, which immediately flows into a bright, open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen. A full wall of windows offers a spectacular view of the protected woods and wetlands of the property, and lets in tons of natural light.brbrJust off the living room is a dreamy enclosed porch. With plenty of seating, a table, and even a fireplace, this delightful space is a true treasure, and an excellent way to still enjoy nature in damp weather.brbrThe living room area features a wood stove and spacious couch, anchoring this cozy nook in the otherwise flowing open space.brbrThe kitchen is thoughtfully laid out for economy of movement, without feeling at all confined. Everything is within easy reach, making cooking a breeze. The efficient kitchen includes an island with a breakfast bar - perfect for gathering while memorable meals are prepared, or simply enjoying your morning coffee. brbrJust beyond the kitchen is a large dining table (made from a repurposed bowling lane!), perfect for gathering to share memorable meals.brThree bedrooms and two full baths occupy the other half of the main floor:brbrThe primary bedroom is a retreat in itself - a cozy queen bed and reading area in the main room are brightened by warm toned decor and light flooding through the sliding doors to the private balcony just beyond. An en suite bath features a spacious walk in shower, and is also filled with windows and light.brbrDown the hall, a second bedroom with a full bed and twin trundle features a lovely decorative wall, hand-painted by a friend of the owners. There is also a small desk, perfect for catching up on a bit of work, or writing.brbrBetween two of the bedrooms is another full bath. Bright and cheery with accents of blue and green, the combination bathtub/shower awaits either a quick rinse or leisurely soak while pops of color and charming decorative details lift the spirits.brbrThe third bedroom on the main floor has a twin bed with a twin trundle, as well, and boasts cheery patterned curtains, a rocking chair reading area, and a globe, for the geography fans. All bedrooms have windows for a view of the woodland surroundings wherever you are.brbrDownstairs, recreational and fitness options abound. A stationary bike and treadmill are available for cardio needs, and a few yoga mats and rollers are available for stretching and toning. A ping pong table invites you to challenge your nearest and dearest to a tournament. If board games are a favorite pastime, there are several to choose from! brbrAdjacent to the workout and recreation area, comfy seating is perfect for curling up with a book, watching the wildlife from a different vantage point, or watching a favorite film.brbrOff of the large main room is the laundry room, and a fourth bedroom, with queen bed, which also has a home office setup, should you require a more dedicated workspace during your stay.brbrSteepletop Lodge has been a beloved gathering place for the owner’s family for many years, and we hope you will make your own wonderful memories here, with your loved ones!brbrGuest Access:brThere is a lockbox and a key inside the screened in porch. We will provide you the code during your check in process.brbrThe Neighborhood:brThe property itself offers much nature to explore, and just across the road is a reserve (also called Steepletop, after the flowers that grow plentifully in the area) with trails to enjoy.brbrThere is so much to enjoy nearby, including candlelit dinner at the Old Inn on the Green, breakfast at the Southfield Store (also a great place for a quick coffee and picking up local provisions), and many hikes and nature spots. Not far from Southfield is Umpachene Falls–an excellent destination for hiking and swimming.brbrSteepletop is also close to both Sheffield and Great Barrington which have several grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, yoga, and more. You're also close to hiking and cultural institutions.brbrGetting Around:brTo enjoy the expansive beauty of the region, you'll need a car to get here and get around--and the drive will be stunning! Since cell service can be inconsistent in the country, we recommend that you download the region's online maps to your phone before your trip.brWe strongly advise using or renting a car that has all wheel or 4 wheel drive to access the property, especially in the colder months.brbrOther Things to Note:brWHAT TO PREPAREbrYou'll find plenty of things to do during your stay. Because temperatures in the mountains can fluctuate widely, even in the height of summer, we recommend packing sweaters and light, cold-weather gear just in case. Depending on the activities you plan, we recommend packing hiking, running, swimming, horseback riding, and/or running gear. We also recommend that guests consider spraying clothes with Permethrin when walking outside, to help avoid ticks. In winter we recommend guests pack several layers of warm clothing and ensure that their vehicles are ready for potential snowfall. For other clothing, most venues around are very casual.
