To reach the bus stop and the pier, you simply need to cross the road from the square.brThe apartment does not have air conditioning, but you can use fans to cool the rooms.brThe beautiful square visible from the balcony might be a bit noisy in the summer due to the bars and restaurants.brbrNEIGHBORHOODbrArgegno is located on the shore of Lake Como, offering wonderful views of the lake. The mouth of the Telo River, also known as Telo d'Argento, divides the ancient medieval town into two parts, which are connected by an age-old stone bridge with pointed arches. A cable car can transport people up to the nearby village of Pigra from where you’ll have a wonderful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The Sanctuary of Sant'Anna is located a few kilometres from Argegno along the provincial road to Schignano. In the centre, you can easily rent a boat, bikes, kayaks, paddle boards and more. You will find high-class restaurants for a romantic or special dinner. There are also some nice bars, with live music in the summertime.brbrGETTING AROUNDbrFor the guests' convenience, we suggest arriving by car.Guests who do not arrive by car can use public transportation to get around. There are ASF Autolinee buses (C10 and C20) in operation in the area. Tickets can be obtained from the driver (cash only) or in designated places (see their website). Bus stops near the property, and the bus will take you to Como city and other nearby towns.brFrom the pier in Argegno, a local ferry service will take you to Como and other lakeside towns. Please note – if traveling in high season, we advise you to be patient with long waiting lines at the ticket office (especially in Como city). Tickets can also be bought online on the Navigazione Laghi website.brUnfortunately, most public transportation services stop before 10 pm, the boats even earlier. Taxis are also available, but not easily attainable in the region.brFrom Como San Giovanni station, there are regular trains departing to Milano Centrale and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno). From Como Nord Lago, there is a train connection to Milano Cadorna.brThe nearest airports are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. Como city is the urban centre of the area, but the little towns are gems with glorious lakeside villas.brTo travel and walk around Lake Como, especially in the little towns, comfortable shoes are a must.brThere are many public drinking-water fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless stated otherwise. Tap water is also drinkable. You can carry your own refillable bottle!brIf you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and want to enjoy mountain views anyway, Lake Como Greenway is an easy-to-follow trail that connects the lakeside towns from Colonno to Griante and doesn't require too much walking uphill. A bus will take you to the starting point in Colonno.brTake the cable car to Pigra. From the village, there are numerous hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging.brLook for traditional restaurants where you can try local foods such as Lake Como fish dishes.brIn Italy, many shops (especially the little ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your shopping accordingly.brLake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dwell in the water, however, there are some options. Look for Lido di Argegno. There are also beaches in other towns. Lido di Bellagio and pebbly San Giovanni beach will be waiting for those who wish to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio which lies in the middle of the two Larian branches. Locals and visitors also enjoy travelling to Nesso where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.brLake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding pre-Alps might not seem very high, but the climate is nevertheless affected by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly.
