From the cycle path you can access bays and beaches, stop for a bathe or sunbathe, enjoy a meal at the several restaurants that are both on the track and on the beaches.brTen metres from the house you enter the park of “Villa Ormond” with its secular and tropical trees; at 100 metres there is “Villa Nobel” and its park, where Alfred Nobel lived and died. Nearly there is “Villa Zirio”, residence of Prince Frederic William of Prussia.brAt 150 metres, in the park of the Mediterranee there is the Olympic swimming-pool, where is possible to swim, sunbathe, have a good meal, access to the bike path and hire a bike.brOur neighbourhood is called San Martino and is a residential quarter with ice shops. Westwards there's Corso Garibaldi with shops and supermarkets; past Piazza Colombo, you are in Via Matteotti, with the Ariston Theatre (where the Italian Song Festival is held in February) its luxury boutiques, The Casinò, and the Russian Church.brFrom Via Matteotti you can access the Medioeval town centre, known as “La Pigna” where many cultural and musical events are kept in summer.brNear our house there is the marina with its yatchs and restaurants; towards the old port there is the disco “Victory Morgana” with beach, Piazza Bresca, the place of the city night life full of pubs and restaurants.brbrTo reach our accomodation by plane, the nearest airport is Nice (France) or alternatively Genoa. From the airport you can reach Sanremo by train or renting a car. Sanremo's history is interesting, and although it does not have the museums and art galleries of its sister Italian cities, it was built and developed due to the wonderful climate. Our building is 50 mtrs from the main shopping and pedestrian mall of the town, a few hundred mtrs from the beaches, and Casino. A few mtrs in either direction for wonderful outdoor cafes, and restaurants.brSanremo is a busy town. On Tuesdays and Satruday there is an outdoor market that attracts many French and other tourists. Parking is not easy. There are two main parking areas in Sanremo. Under the bus station (open 24hours a day at a cost of Euro12/15 a day, and one in the PallaFiori building on Corso Garibaldi. This one though closes at midnight. Furthermore we do recommend a covered parking garage 500 metres from the apartment. They charge Euros 20.00 per 24 hour period. One of the charms of Sanremo is there is excellent bus service to all the villages in the hills behind the town, and all along the Riviera itself.brThe apartment building which was built in 1828 has been in the same family since then. It is in the heart of Sanremo, which is a vibrant town one hour from Nice airport, 20 minutes from Monte Carlo via expressway, and an easy drive to all the cities in between. The annual population of Sanremo is +/- 95,000, however during the peak season this can double. There is an easy rail service that leaves from Nice to Sanremo. It is best to check the schedules, otherwise one has to change train in Ventimiglia (border town) Uber does operate from Nice Airport to Sanremo, the cost is approximately Euro 169 for the trip. This service is not available for the return journey, but it costs the same via taxi. Sanremo is in the heart of Liguria. Known for its Pesto Sauce, and wonderful food. There are many small medieval villages within one hour from Sanremo that have stood still in time, These can be reached by car (very windy road)or regular bus service. Some of these are Perinaldo, Baiardo, Apricale, Dolceaqua. All not to miss. Sanremo is home to a wonderful bike path that follows the ocean for many miles along a spectacular route. Bikes are easy to rent. The apartment is steps away from the very popular Via Matteotti, where all the name brand stores are located.
