The Neighborhood:
The property is surrounded by the magical gardens of Willow Camp, a destination in itself. Stroll through the grounds from this central location to reach the ocean and the quaint town of Stinson Beach in moments, along with several dining options.
I am part of a group of about 15 people who get together every other year to catch up and enjoy each other's company. As we get older comfort as well as a unique location matters. Willow Lodge met both requirements. I loved the location, loved the Lodge, loved being able to sit by the pool and catch up, eat excellent meals together, and then retire to our respective comfortable rooms. The owner and property manager were friendly, fair, and responsive. Highly recommend and hope to return.
Stinson Beach is one of our favorite places and it was such a treat for our family (3 generations) to spend time together there in this truly exceptional, beautiful home. Here's what we especially loved: the views, the gardens, the short stroll to the wonderful beach, the heated pool, the inglenook with its fireplace, and the secret speakeasy room where we gathered for cocktails served up by my son-in-law while the kids played darts (under supervision!). We also enjoyed learning about the colorful history of the lodge, its visitors, and Willow Camp in general. The home was very comfortable, with good beds (super important to our group) and lots of space for the children to play. The property managers were totally responsive to our needs and requests. We hope to come back!
Every couple of years my San Diego family has a vacation with my Kansas/Iowa/Nebraska family. We’ve travelled quite a few places over the last 20 years and think that this may be our favorite. The house was beautiful and rustic. This history of the house was fun to read. We would have coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening either on the patio over looking the ocean or out by the pool. We could walk to the Parkside Cafe each day for pastries and baguettes. I think I ate an entire baguette each day by myself. Oops! The owners were quick to respond when I had questions. I would definitely go back and I was sad to leave.
So much character and charm. The house was lovely, the gardens beautiful and the ocean view spectacular.
Absolutely delightful stay. We can't tell what highlight we enjoyed more; walking our dog on the beach at sunrise while drinking a Parkside Cafe latte, or sipping on a glass of wine while watching the sunset next to a crackling fire in the great room fireplace. Beautiful, warm, spacious home with well stocked kitchen and bathrooms, comfortable beds (the primary bedroom has its own wood burning fireplace which we used every night), lots of activities on the grounds, fun (and warm) pool deck, easy access to the beach. And most importantly, the owners were very responsive to our questions and needs - thank you! We will definitely come back.
excellent
A group of us celebrated my 50th birthday here. The entire weekend everyone kept saying OMG, I love this place. This place is amazing. Let's buy this house. The size of the house accommodated our group perfectly. We had 13 people in total, 10 adults and 3 children along with 3 dogs. It felt like there was always something to discover with this property. The grounds were so impressive and fun. The pool was literally as hot as a hot tub so we all swam each day!  We had amazing weather and walked down to the beach and strolled along the shore finding so many small and sweet sand dollars. The children actually swam in the ocean because, you know, they are kids after all. My friends made breakfast, lunch, and dinner for our crew in the stocked kitchen.  They made it seem easy. We spent Friday at sunset with wine on the deck and then retreated to the speakeasy for the evening laughing until we cried, Saturday evening we watched the sunset again and then had a fire in the epic fireplace and enjoyed the living room. The house afforded us lots of privacy. Everyone kept losing each other! We couldn't hear others when they woke up in the morning. The rooms had decent separation so you didn't feel like you were disturbing others. The beds were comfy as well. I love that they have Sonos that we connected to easily. Music is very important to our crew and the pianos were fun too! Everyone walked into town to go to the amazing market. I wish we could have stayed longer and we've already discussed going back again soon. The owners, Lovisa and Steve, were lovely and so very responsive. I had more questions than normal due to the recent fires and power outages. In a prior review, someone mentioned that a person lives in the house on the first floor. I'm overly sensitive to disrupting others so I hesitated with my rental originally. I know now that it was a non-issue. I can't believe someone else lives there. You can't see any evidence of it other than a car that doesn't belong to your crew. I never saw this person or heard them. The house seemed so soundproof, not sure if he heard us or not. It felt like the entire spot was ours alone. I did see (as we were leaving) a hairless cat outside wearing a coat which delighted me so! I'm a cat lover! It was truly a perfect celebration weekend for me with so many memories that I will always cherish. This is a very special rental. You'd be lucky to stay here. Do it! Then tell everyone how epic your time was!Â
We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit to Stinson Beach. The location of the house (a short walk to the beach), and the amenities of the house were fantastic. We were a group of 13 and lovely to be able to sit around the large dining room all together.
Second stay in two years. More progress with the Speakeasy. New sound system. Same quality furnishings. Highly recommended
House and location are great! Getting there no so much.
