As always, clean, comfortable bed, well stocked, great location to walk everywhere, great communication with the owner, easy check in and out! We have stayed here 4 times now and ready to make our reservation again!

The location and house were perfect. Right next to shops, restaurants and the beach. The house is one bedroom, with a sofa bed in the kitchen area. Kitchen fully stocked. The water toys and bikes were a huge bonus. Beautiful home and Marty is kind and very responsive.

Marty was communicative and helpful and the space was perfect for our family of 4 (the two bathrooms, both with showers, were really helpful!). Right near the beach and downtown strip, easy walk from the ferry, very comfortable and clean space with two nice balconies with chairs for relaxing. The kayaks, bikes, beach chairs and SUPs especially made for a wonderful time! Would strongly recommend this space and hope to return myself soon.

Place was amazing! perfect location, walking distance to everything! We took advantage of the toy room anything you could want is there. Marty was super nice and always there for any questions! Would definitely be back again!!!

This place was everything we needed. So close to everything. Marty was extremely accommodating and very responsive to texts. Perfect retreat for our small family. The toy room has kayaks, paddle boards and so many beach related items to use. Highly recommend!!

I will always book this if it is available on any return trips to Avalon. It is wonderful, close to the Catalina Express dock, just a block off Crescent, and even has bikes, kayaks and paddle boards free for guests to use. The rental was very clean, very quiet, especially when the traffic going by on the street ended in the evening, had new upstairs and downstairs air conditioners and a new refrigerator. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we loved the decor. Very interesting and charming. I have nothing but good things to say about this rental. Just loved staying here! Marty was very friendly and helpful in his communications. Thanks for a fantastic stay on Catalina Island!

The host was excellent. We enjoyed our stay so much and everything was great. We loved the location and being able to people watch from our decks. It was so nice to head out by foot and get to wherever we wanted to go. It was so excellent that he bothered to inform us that we did not have to leave until we caught our Catalina Flyer later in the day since the cleaning lady would not be there until the next day. We certainly enjoyed our stay at the Yellow House! Thank you for your great hospitality!

Another great trip to Avalon, love this place. Excellent communication with Marty on a small glitch, he responded immediately and solved the problem within minutes. Most of the rentals here are 50-100 years old, so remodeling that is done well is a must. This place is done beautifully.

We had an excellent stay! The location couldn’t be more perfect for exploring Avalon! The double balconies with sea view were a nice bonus. The house is very well appointed for relaxing, cooking and even watching movies. Very Clean and comfortable. Marty had excellent communication and was a very welcoming and helpful host. I really couldn’t recommend his place more!

Hands down the best property I’ve ever rented in Catalina Island. The combination of cleanliness, responsiveness from the owner, location and the toy room with bikes, kayak, SUPs, etc, made up a great experience. I cannot recommend this place enough. The location is perfect, right downtown in the hustle and bustle. Marty, the host, is absolutely wonderful. He communicates quickly and makes sure to answer any questions! He is accomodating and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. The toys available to use made our trip even better. The cleanliness of the house is always appreciated. The balconies were a great place to start your day with a cup of coffee and end your day with a nice cocktail or mocktail. We will be back and I will be recommending this location to all my friends and family!

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean. There was a front balcony to sit on and we love the proximity about a half a block from the water. The owner was very responsive. It’s right along the main road so you’re not in a quiet neighborhood, but that didn’t bother us. We loved all the toys! Standup paddleboard, bikes, beach chairs. Our favorite restaurant was the lobster trap. Delicious seafood.

Amazing time at the Yellow house! It was perfect location literally seconds from the beach and down town. Marty was quick and efficient with response time — made check in and check out very easy an accommodating. Tons of beach toys! Loved having the deck top and bottom! Felt like home away from home. Bed is super comfortable. We are going to make it our yearly place to stay! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Toy closet is great for activities!

This is my 2nd stay at the Big Yellow House. I brought my mom who had never been to Avalon before for a few days during the week. Communication with the owner couldn't have been easier and he let me know that we could check in early on Monday, which was great since the boat arrived around 11AM and official check-in was 1PM, if I recall. I loved how close the home was to everything -- an easy walk to restaurants, shops, sites, beach. The home comes with bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel equipment -- anything you might want for a beach getaway. The house has 2 baths and 2 showers which are great -- each are on different floors. The only sort of funky thing about the place is its layout. It is basically 2 floors (the ground floor being rented by a Ghost Tours company). The first floor is the small kitchen, a little dining table w/high chairs and bathroom with separate shower; the floor above serves as the living room, bedroom and bath/shower. The kitchen has a sofa-bed in it, and the living room also has a sofa-bed. So, technically you could sleep 6 but you'd be crowded. It was fine for a couple or parents/child but would probably not be ideal for two couples or a group of friends.

He communicated very well

The yellow house is such a cute rental. I loved the Spanish tiles and all the little sea plane touches. We came for diving and the location was perfect - just a 10 minute (if that long) stroll along the coast live over looking the harbor. The everything you could need (food, shops, water sports, drug store, etc) is incredibly walkable. Marty, the property manager was incredible - he’s timely, responsive, and respectful. We can’t wait to vacation here again.

The property was a very short walk to the ferry. The toy storage room had everything you could ever want for the beach. All the windows in the bedroom had blackout curtains and double pained windows to block out all the noise from the gas powered golf carts. And the A/C was nice on hot days!

The Yellow House was everything and more! We had the best time and the house provided everything we needed. The toy closet is beyond stocked, house accommodated the four of us perfectly and we walked EVERYWHERE!! Can’t beat it!!

Close to everything. View of the cove from the balcony. Well equipped. We would stay there again. Can be a little noisy during the day but that is the price of being in town.

I’ve rented homes in Avalon for 40 years and this is by far the best. Its layout doesn’t work for everyone, there are 2 flight of steep stairs, but every inch of this place is designed well. The location is as good as it gets and the 2 balconies are perfect. Most rentals in Avalon have challenging plumbing due to the age of most of the original houses, this place has 2 beautiful, fully remodeled bathrooms. The storage room with beach toys and kayaks is over the top, no one else does that. The host is always accessible and seems truly invested in ensuring his guests have a fabulous trip.

Located so close to the beach in Avalon. It was a very clean place that comfortably sleeps 4. The owners were very responsive and informative over text to tell us about check in and check out information. Would stay there again!

The house is in the perfect location in Avalon and walking distance to everything. You have a view of both the harbor and the mountains from the balcony. The home is comfortable, and the toy closet is full of kayaks, bikes, SUPs, beach toys and much more to take full advantage of Avalon. Marty was easy to work with and very responsive. We look forward to staying here again.

This is such a great spot! We cooked in the well-stocked kitchen, slept great in the third story bedroom, and enjoyed all the thoughtful touches and homey comforts. Just wish we had stayed longer so we could enjoy the fully stocked toy room with loads of outdoor equipment for all kinds of fun. Marty was very communicative and helpful, and we really appreciated the outdoor locker storage so we didn't have to drag our luggage around town after check-out.

Family has been coming to the Yellow House for years. My grandson says it feels like home when he is here. Great place.

First time to Catalina and the yellow house was the perfect place to stay. Walkable to all Avalon has to offer and two beautiful porches to relax and enjoy everything going on. Marty was a great host, we can't wait to come back!

Whenever we travel to Catalina island we book Marty’s lovely yellow house. You can’t beat the location, the views, the toy shed and of course Marty himself is the nicest guy. There is a reason this property is 5/5 — it’s the best on the island. Enjoy!

Marty's Yellow House rental was perfect for our girls trip to Catalina. We had everything we needed in the rental and were within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and recreation. The toy shed is also well stocked. Everything was clean and comfortable. I would stay there any time I came to the island. Highly recommend!

Great location right next to the water. The apartment was clean and had a very comfortable bed. We had a great time!

Location cannot be beat. Walking distance to almost every. Kitchen had what we needed as we prefer to cook ourselves. Would have preferred glass wine glasses as opposed to plastic. Bed was comfy. Blinds were a bit tricky due to their age. Had a great time!tricky due to their age.

Had a great time. Accommodations were great, loved the layout. Two bathrooms! Well stocked. Only problem was licking the front door. A combination of pressing, turning the knob and waiting to hear the click. The exact door locking procedure could be included.

Enjoyed a couple night getaway as first time visitors to Catalina! Traveled with our 8 month old baby and my goal was to find somewhere reasonably priced within walking distance to the ferry, restaurants, and with a balcony or outdoor space ideally with a view to enjoy sitting outside with coffee or drink in hand especially during baby naps and early bedtime and this completely checked those boxes and more! Everyone enjoyed the balcony space (baby included) to watch golf carts and people go by and stare out to the harbor and neighborhoods. The toy room as many describe is such a great bonus with beach things, baby things, and water things to enjoy so you don't need to bring or rent! Luggage storage available for early arrival or later leaving times was also fantastic and allowed us to get in a little hike prior to departure. We got unlucky with some warmer weather/heat wave in October but with doors and windows open+fans it actually stayed pretty comfortable (& per the owner, AC is even getting installed later this year). Marty also was proactive with all communication before and during stay, fantastic host! Marty's yellow house is a great choice for small families (kitchen, space, amenities, upper level baby gate for younger ones), couples getaway, or even a small friends group trip with the 2 bathrooms and extra sleepers if needed.

Property was just as advertised. So convenient to all your needs on the island. Property manager was fantastic!

So, your 1/2 block from beach, all the beach toys you need,super clean, with full kitchen, large bedroom with couch, large TV, 2 bathrooms, two floors with two large balcony's that have an incredible view. It's allways our first choice in Catalina!

We arrived and loved the location. So close to the ferry and the heart of town. The house was spacious and smelled clean and it was light and bright. My husband said the bed was comfortable and he loved the pillows. Our trip was cut short but we will definitely keep this place in mind whenever we return again. Marty was very quick to respond.

The yellow house was great. You cant beat the location. The owner was very responsive. It was nice having a bathroom downstairs and upstairs. Our 6 year old slep down stairs which gave my wife and I our own space upstairs. Sitting on the balcony was lovely. The toy closet has everything you need for a wonderful time at the beach which is just steps away. The mexican restaurant next door is fantastic.

My husband and I had a great nearly weeklong stay at this property. Marty the owner was incredibly responsive before and during our visit. Super nice guy and really helpful. The home is on 2 levels and centrally located in the heart of the island. This is really convenient and the balconies are so lovely to sit and watch the flow of people and view the harbor. There is a bit of a noise factor if you are sensitive -- the street is busy, especially in the mornings with workers and deliveries arriving, but the neighborhood is quiet at night. We slept with the balcony doors open which was really pleasant. There is no AC, but the breeze from the sea air made it unnecessary, even in August. There are also fans provided, which had the added benefit of white noise and masking outdoor noise. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a wonderful toy room with bikes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, fins, etc. There are 2 full bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) so we could each take one and spread our things out. Overall, the home is perfect for a couple. Maybe an added child (the sofa becomes a bed). Would not hesitate to return!

We loved our stay at the yellow house in Avalon! It’s located less than a full block from the beach and the beginning of the main strip of shops and restaurants. The interior is spacious and nicely decorated and we appreciated having two bathrooms as well as separate euro-lounger pull-out beds for our children; one in the bedroom loft upstairs and one sharing the space with the kitchen. The toy room is well equipped with two paddle boards, two single person kayaks, adult sized bikes and more. Luggage storage for early arrival/late departure is awesome so you can enjoy the day without lugging all your stuff around.

Can't beat the price, location and amenities!!

This was our second trip to Avalon, we stayed in a hotel the first time. This time was sooooo much better, this place was perfect! It’s so close to everything, we loved the balconies. The kitchen has everything needed including some spices and sauces in the fridge! We would definitely stay here again!
