Stayed Jul 15, 2025We just came back from Cocles and had it rented for ten days but after three nights, chose to vacate and move to another place. The bug bites that three of us received on our faces, arms and legs during the night with the use of mosquito nets were terrible. I had ten on my face, my husband had his entire left arm eaten and my daughter had all kinds of bites everywhere. They were not just mosquito bites. Additionally, there are strawberry poison dart frogs on the stoop and in the bathroom which I alerted Habitat vacation Rentals about and they gave me incorrect information. They ARE in fact poisonous to humans but they should not be touched. They told me that they aren't dangerous to humans instead of just providing accurate information. If my children had been toddler-age, I would have been extremely upset with this situation. The only reviews on VRBO for this property were from 2018. When I checked other sites (airbnb and booking) after we vacated, the only two reviews from 2025 were terrible. It seems to me that the house has fallen into neglect and disrepair. The rental company was late in getting arrival information to me and after we vacated the property, I came back to retrieve my suitcase, and someone from the company had already taken the Casa Rameem house sign off the gate. So I don't know what is really going on with the house, but do not waste your vacation time and money. We were not refunded at all.

Stayed Feb 18, 2018Lots of character and great location very near several nice beaches and the funky Peurto Viejo village. The best features of the house are the large deck and the outdoor bathroom with an open air shower (but plenty private). Beds are very comfortable, kitchen functional. We had a very enjoyable 4 day stay in this fantastic corner of Costa Rica.

Stayed May 3, 2017Stay at Casa Rameen for 7 days with pure relaxation! Stayed here with my girlfriend, her little sister, and friend. All of us from Vancouver, Canada in our late twenties with full time jobs. We are not hostel types. Casa Rameen and Puerto Viejo was just what we were looking for in our vacation. The house has everything you need to be self-sufficient; fans galore, coffee maker, blender, refrigerator, dishes and tupperware for leftovers. Eating meals on the deck and utilizing the bbq and hammocks is a must. One of the highlights is definitely the outdoor shower and toilet. Taking a cold shower during a thunderstorm left me awestruck. The house itself like many other's in PV was very basic in construction, but what it lacked in modernity, was overcompensated with location and character. Care takers had excellent communication and helped us with any needs we had. Being in the jungle, wildlife was abundant the entire trip. Sloths, howlers, geckos, and birds birds birds! We rented bikes for the entire week, which we kept at the house without a worry. Biking to the beach and grocery store was 5 min. but walking to the beach was just as easy as a ten min walk. PV's bank, restaurants, bars and shops are about 15 min away by bike. We biked or walked everywhere....no need for taxi even at night! One last thing. We stayed the beginning of May or rainy season. PV and all adjoining towns were void of tourists during our stay :) Our rain jackets and warm clothes never left our bags until we got back on the plane to go home...literally. All you need is a swim suit, sandals, and some water. It rained everyday, but generally in the evening/night, which with the heat became inviting. When the weather is 30-35 everyday, you don't mind the rain. One after noon at the beach it began to rain, so we simply went swimming in the warm ocean water, than walked home in the warm rain. Pura Vida Man! Don't forget your sunscreen and bug spray ;).

Stayed Feb 12, 2016We were met by the property manager who was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a 3 night stay and found the property to be comfortable. It is in a secluded spot and has some great wildlife for entertainment. The local dogs are also very friendly! The outside area with hammocks was a nice bonus and overall we had a very enjoyable stay, as the location was ideal for us.

Stayed Jan 11, 2016Our stay at Casa Rameen was great! My daughter and I stayed there for a week. The place was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our visit. We walked to the beach, rode bikes, went shopping and had dinner. The howler monkeys woke us in the morning which was a great experience. I would recommend this place to everyone looking for a reasonably priced, clean accommodation.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband, 2 young sons and I just returned from Casa Rameen and what a fantastic experience! Such a quaint and clean house in the jungle. Everything went smoothly as Guillermo, the property manager, was extremely helpful and made our stay a very pleasant one. He even brought us coconuts and banana to try from his own property. The open and airy feeling of the house and the indoor outdoor bathroom make this a unique property that you need to experience. The is so much wildlife around, like dogs, cats and chickens/roosters, along with the toucans and howler monkeys, so much nicer hearing these sounds than the hum of a highway, like back home. We did have an issue with the wifi, for the first 3 days, but were happy to have it fixed for the last half of our trip. The close vicinity to Playa Cocles, makes for a lovely walk or bike ride, and everything else is so close and easy to access, it is the perfect spot. There are so many wonderful things to do, like the Jaguar Rescue Centre, Aventurras Canopy Tour zip lining and the waterfall on the way to Bribri are must sees. Just don't forget to plan some time on the beautiful beach and check out the cool vibe in Puerto Viejo. Must visit places are Caribeans Chocolate Tasting Lounge and Cafe Rico. We also enjoyed Tasty Waves, Alice's homemade ice cream and De Gustibus Bakery. Enjoy all that this wonderful caribbean casa has to offer.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our group of four had a great stay! The home is just a quick walk to the beach, and just a few miles down the main road to Puerto Viejo. There were plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance, as well as a grocery store. We spent our time going to the beach, watching surfers and trying to surf, riding bikes (rented from the owners) into town, and enjoying the local places. The house was wonderful, the highlight is definitely the outdoor bathroom - though a close second is the outdoor area with the hammocks. For things to do I highly recommend the Canopy Ziplining tour and going to the Jaguar Sanctuary.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our family of 5 stayed at Casa Rameen for 10 days. What a truly wonderful experience. The home is located a few minutes walk from the main road and the beach giving it a private and safe setting. It has everything you need to feel at home and is close to beautiful beaches, hiking and the town of Puerto Viejo. As you lie in the hammocks in the garden you can listen to the sounds of the wildlife in the jungle including toucans and howler monkeys. We were lucky enough to watch a sloth cross the small gravel road in front of the house. Unbelievable! I would highly recommend this little oasis and hope we will have a chance to return with our family in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
