Casa Margarita: Simple and Rustic Refuge in the Heart of Cocles

Casa Margarita is ideally located in the center of Cocles, just steps away from the beach, restaurants, supermarkets, and other local attractions. It offers both convenience and an authentic Caribbean living experience.

This house with simple design and rustic style, built in 1980, has been lovingly renovated over the years to receive visitors. Its design reflects the relaxed and natural atmosphere of the Caribbean. Due to its proximity to the main road and essential services, it is possible that occasionally the sounds of daily life and traffic may be heard, which adds an authentic touch to the local charm.

The property has a spacious garden with a private pool and barbecue area, perfect for family gatherings or relaxing with friends. The outdoor space offers both comfort and privacy, creating an ideal environment for resting.

The house has two levels:

On the upper level, you will find a loft-style space with a spacious living room overlooking the tropical garden. The open-concept, semi-equipped kitchen provides you with a wonderful setting to cook surrounded by nature. The kitchen extends towards the garden, offering you a beautiful view from the second floor. This connection with the exterior allows you to enjoy the exotic animals and insects of the tropical environment, both day and night.

The main bedroom on the upper level features a queen-size bed, private bathroom, sofa, television, and air conditioning, providing everything necessary for a relaxing stay.

Just outside the house, a path leads you directly to the beach, and you are only 10 minutes by car from the vibrant town of Puerto Viejo.

On the ground floor, you will find:

Two additional bedrooms, each with a double bed, air conditioning, and a safe. These rooms share a bathroom. In the living room, you can also find a double bed, this area does not have AC.

Please note that the property uses a combination of rainwater and well water, so we recommend acquiring drinking water for consumption and cooking.

For your peace of mind, we have installed several security measures, including alarms and cameras. The cameras are located at the entrance, garden, and terraces, ensuring that they do not interfere with guest privacy.

This is a Pet-Friendly House, but only one pet is allowed per stay, subject to prior approval. Please contact us before booking to discuss the policies and conditions of our Pet-Friendly House, as well as the possibility of bringing a second pet. A fee of $45 per stay is applied for each pet.

The property is located near the main road and close to other vacation accommodations and small local businesses, so it is possible to notice the natural movement of the area: people, local life, and wildlife. This also makes the location very convenient and easily accessible.

Security deposit: This amount is an estimate and will not be withheld unless necessary. Depending on the extent of any damage, the actual charge may vary, and any cost will be requested through Airbnb.

Casa Margarita offers a simple and rustic experience with modern amenities, perfect for those seeking a relaxed and authentic stay. We look forward to welcoming you for an unforgettable experience in the Caribbean!

Great house in a great location, close to the beach, grocery stores, and restaurants. Pool was nice and refreshing after a day at beach, with its own refrigerator, bbq, and bathroom. Hosts were easy to communicate with, and checked in a few times to make sure we were comfortable.Only negative was that it is on the main road, which would not be a problem during the off season, but was very loud during the week between Christmas and New Years. We should have expected it, as we went high peak season this trip for the first time ever. We would definitely stay here again on future trips, off peak season (which we prefer anyways).

The property is beautiful and an excellent place to relax and unwind while enjoying Costa Rica! The home is spacious and has multiple areas to relax and watch the birds, or just nap if that is what is needed. The upstairs kitchen area is well equipped and Has plenty of space to enjoy family or friends. Communication is prompt and friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay.

I have always wanted to stay in the treehouse in Costa Rica. The only problem was they’re out in the middle of the rainforest and I am a big beach person! This house gives you both. A half a mile down the road is the beach so you can enjoy all the beach stuff Upstairs kitchen and come in area to eat is the treehouse part so you have to understand it’s all opened up. Therefore elements to get in there’s probably why people have said it could be cleaner, but there’s no way because like I said, and you have the trees and tropics and everything around you. The downstairs was OK I think personally it could use some upgrading Oh, and all we had a nice time there! The kids would love the treehouse look has a hammock up there. The property was nice. The pool was nice. It has a grill. That’s what we did for a family gathering one night oh no I think you enjoy it.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Margarita. We communicated frequently with Nathalia and Monica, and they were responsive and very helpful! They helped make arrangements for transportation between San Jose and the house - request Harry - he's amazing! They also arranged for an absolutely wonderful bird tour led by Ricky (who is a gem!) - I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in CR wild life and willing to get up at the crack of dawn. In a trip of many high points, this was one of the peaks! Casa Margarita was a good house for our group of 4. The house is clean and the owners provided a maid service halfway through our stay. We had a minor plumbing issue and they had someone check it out almost immediately, so they were very responsive. There is a master bedroom upstairs with a full bath (it has a curtain for a door), two bedrooms downstairs with one full bath inside and one full bath outside. The main kitchen and hanging out area is also on the second floor. It is open on 3 sides and is a fully functional kitchen. There are lovely patios with hammocks on both floors. The grounds are great - there are fruit trees, coconuts, and a very nice pool. Right across the street from the house is a wonderful panaderia (bakery) where we got fresh baked goodies for breakfast each morning - try the Queque con Queso. Next door to that is a restaurant (La Nena) that makes this chicken with rice and beans that's one of the best things I've ever eaten. There are two grocery stores just a short walk from the house where you can pick up whatever provisions you need. And there's a lovely, quiet stretch of beach about 100 yards down a walking path. The house is on a busy street - there's plenty of traffic, and road noise - so if you're looking for a quiet retreat, this might not be the place for you. Also, the house itself is on two levels with some steep stairs, so it's better for people that are physically confident. Tuk-tuks and taxis are decent for transportation, but if you want to explore freely, a car would be handy.

We came to this area for the 3-4 ft consistent waves and cocles beach did not disappoint. The swells were regular and easy to surf. The main beach break was guarded by three lifeguards throughout the day. The home was about a 10 min walk to the main beach but we took the motorcycle cabs most days because they were fun and cheap. The beach that was a 30 second walk from the home was not ideal for surfing but was good for general play. The home was spacious and clean and we enjoyed it immensely. At the end of each day we’d swim in the pool and my family really enjoyed having that pool. Convenint walking distance to the home was a nice market and good restaurants. The only downside from the trip was that the home was next to the road and there was regular traffic noises. It wasn’t crazy annoying. But the sound of a motorcycle or truck passing by was consistent. The management team for the home was tremendous. It Really felt like we had on-demand help with all sorts of logistics. They booked the van trip to and from San Jose and got us set up with the zipline tour directly from the home. They took the stress out of the trip. We would definitely come back again

We really enjoyed villa margarita. Excellent location. Woke every morning to the sound of howler monkeys. We were there during Holy Week so was a crazy busy week. Upstairs and open kitchen was grand. Short walk to beach. We saw fireflies each night. Birds too. We would stay there again. Thanks

I rented the upper loft for my wife and I, and a couple of weeks later friends of ours agreed to join us; they were taking the lower level apartment. However, the lower level is not really set up for independent living, especially if you intend to use the advertised kitchen. The full house is appropriate for shared use of the loft kitchen/eating area with the lower bedrooms only being used for sleeping. The house is also located next to the main road so there is some traffic noise. But the loft area is a great place to hang out in the shade and there is a good cross breeze. The pool was very refreshing and we found the water quite warm from the hot Puerto Viejo sun. The beach is a short walk down the path from the house and it truly is beautiful; a great place for walks. There are two well-rated restaurants (La Nena and La Pecora Nera) and a bakery a short walk to the left of Casa Margarita on the main road, and the Cocles supermarket is an easy walk to the right. A bicycle rental shop is located right beside the bakery and they do not require you give them your passport; they take a photo of it. With the bikes it was a pleasant drive to Punta Uva and Puerto Viejo. Nathalia, our prime contact at the property management company, was extremely helpful in coordinating the details of our visit and reserving shuttles to and from the house. This was our first trip to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica but it won't be our last!
