Fondly known around Bethany as the iconic Purple house, this property is among the area's most unusual, luxurious and spacious rentals.
The house sits just one lot away from the ocean and the boardwalk, and 3 blocks from Bethany’s town center — within steps of restaurants, specialty foods shops, boutiques, and ice cream parlors. Also, it is within steps of an arcade, a park with kiddie equipment, and a miniature golf course. And it is a short drive from 130 outlet, tax-free shops in Rehoboth Beach. Be sure to enjoy Bethany's newest eatery: 99 Sea Level Restaurant and Oyster Bar, on the Boardwalk just a block and a half from the Purple House! 99 Sea Level is open all year.
What Does the House Offer
Ideal for family and large group beach vacations, the house sleeps 16, with an additional queen aerobed in a private den. On the ground level are two masters with kings, one master with a queen and a twin, one bedroom with 2 twins that uses a hall bath, and a master with 2 sets of bunk beds. Upstairs on the living/dining/kitchen area, is the primary master with a king bed and a bath with a large, walk-in shower and a 2-person Jacuzzi. Also on this floor is a powder room and a private den with the queen aerobed. The third floor loft has a very small bedroom with a full bed, and a computer/work area. The large open-concept kitchen features an array of cookware and counter-top appliances, two sinks and two ovens. There is a small beverage fridge in the laundry room to take overflow from the kitchen fridge. Our 2013 additions include all new appliances and a 50-bottle wine cooler. Amenities include Hi Speed Internet and WI-FI, five TVs, (one HDTV) with DVD players and a home theater center. A sensational setting and destination in itself, this home was designed by an award-winning architect and has been featured on tours and in home design articles. Tile and hardwood in most rooms.
Description of the Area and Activities
The beach is about 30 yards away from the house and there is off street parking for 6/7 cars. And if you need it, there is metered parking all along the beach and board walk. The beach has life guards, showers, and chair and umbrella rentals. You can buy food and drinks on the boardwalk which is near the house.

This has been the perfect house for family, groups of golfers, reunions, wedding parties, showers, crafty ladies gatherings, scrapbook weekends, small business or religious retreats, or just for a quiet vacation. You could lease this house for a weekend, week or a month, and enjoy every minute of the comfortable and beautiful surroundings provided in the furnishings, appointments and neighborhood.
Things To Do In The Area
The town of Bethany – Called the Quiet Resort - is an easy 5 minute walk from the house. It is quaint beach town with about 4 blocks of stores and restaurants. The town has a good playground for children and a boardwalk where music will often be heard from the new band stand. A few of our favorite restaurants include Bethany Blues BBQ, Baja Grille for great Mexican food, Parkway, Grotto s Pizza, and Sonoma’s-all in town.
Ocean and bay water-sports - charter boat fishing, wind surfing. Local water-sports: swimming, crabbing, clamming, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, sport fishing, beach-combing, surfing, shelling, windsurfing.
Day Trips: About a half hour from Bethany is Rehoboth Beach: The town is much larger than Bethany and boasts many shopping and dining options. You can also go antiquing. There is also fabulous sales tax free outlet shopping at 130 Outlet stores. Lewes: Smaller than Rehoboth but a good day quaint a lovely hour s ferry ride away. Make sure you take the newest ferry with entertainment for kids onboard!
