Cozy Slice Of Paradise Just Steps From The Beach!!

Everything was amazing. From the amenities to the location to the nice quiet neighbourhood. Our family had an incredible time and will definitely be back. If you’re looking for a vacation home in SoCal this is an excellent spot. Thank you for such a pleasant vacation.

The perfect beach house for our family of four spring break trip. The house was quite well appointed, the furnishings lovely, beds and pillows firm and in good shape, kitchen had everything we needed, and just can't say enough about the wonderful and highly responsive host, Kate. She went out of her way to make sure our family had a great experience. We hope to be back next year!

We have stayed at Surfs Up Cottage many times and love it. Kate, the host, is wonderful. We especially love having the bikes to ride and all the beach stuff. Location is beautiful.

This cute little beach house had a lot of good about it, but it also needs some TLC. We loved the location, in a beautiful neighborhood close to a quiet part of the beach. We also loved having the bikes, beach chairs and umbrellas to use and the front porch was lovely each morning. The host was kind and generous. The house itself is in need of care. The master bed was horrific. The mattress itself was not comfortable and much too soft and each time myself or my husband would move in the bed, it would wobble and squeak. We got very little sleep in that bed. It was so bad that we ended up sleeping in the twin beds after the first night, which was certainly not ideal. The second night, the twin bed I stayed in was not clean, I'll spare the details, we cleaned it but it made for another rough night. There are several places throughout the house that need some love and look worn out or were fixed in haphazard ways. I realize this cute little house has been rented for over twenty years, so wear and tear is normal. I just wish I had been able to read a review that gave a genuine picture of what the house itself was like inside. So, here's that review. Cute house, but in need of some TLC after 20 years of renting.

2nd stay at Kate’s property on Balboa Peninsula. She updated the bathrooms as well as new furniture in the main living space which are nice touches. Location is ideal. Quiet neighborhood and adequate street parking despite it being high season. House is super cute and perfect for a couple to stay in. Just steps away from the beach. Kate is very accessible and makes the process super smooth. Overall a very enjoyable week in Balboa!

This cottage was great! We loved having all of the beach things - chairs, towels & umbrellas available. Lots of books, puzzles and games as well. Kate made this a great family friendly stay.

We love staying here!! Just steps from the sand and everything is provided from beach towels & umbrellas to bikes & beach toys. Super cute cottage in an amazing neighborhood. We love taking walks, riding bikes to get ice cream, and reading books on the beach. Relaxing place to stay!

I spent my summers in Balboa and wanted to introduce my 11-year-old to the beach. This cottage was just perfect for our trio. It was clean, accurate in its' description, and the small touches, well-stocked kitchen, and ample beachware were perfect—we had everything we needed.Our host was responsive when we experienced a minor issue and her attention to detail was exceptional.We packed a lot into our week-long stay (whale watching, kayaking, shopping, dining), but also had plenty of downtime for simply relaxing and experiencing the beach.I highly recommend this cozy retreat.

We've come to Newport for years and have a new favorite house. Kate was an awesome host, very easy to work with. The house is just as described and has so many little touches from the welcome snacks, to games, books, bikes, helmets, beach toys, wagon, and towels. The location to the beach couldn't be better! We loved everything about out stay!

Super easy access to the beach, all the amenities you need for the beach, sleeps 6 perfectly, fire pit for the evenings, and parking is plentiful. If you are looking for the Newport Beach experience, this is the place to go. Close enough to all the amenities, but far enough away from the tourist hustle and bustle.

We loved our stay at this beautiful home. Everything we needed for a beach getaway was there - bikes, beach gear, and a home with all we could want at the end of a day out exploring!

Just finished a 4 day stay at Kate's cottage on Balboa Peninsula. House is in great condition. Clean and plenty of room for my wife and I to relax and enjoy down time at Newport Beach. Kate was very responsive and welcoming. Kitchen was stocked with thoughtful snacks that we enjoyed. Location is unbeatable, easy walk to the sand via M street and just down from the Wedge. Neighborhood is quiet and street parking in Peninsula Point is ample. Overall a very enjoyable time and look forward to returning in the future.

Beautiful outside, and warm and welcoming inside. It's perfect for families, groups of friends, or a quiet retreat for a solo traveler. You can be as busy as you want, with aa wide variety of outdoor activities, or spend a calm and peaceful vacation in the beautiful tropical gardens, front and back. Great eateries and shops nearby as well.

We had an absolutely wonderful time here at the cozy slice of paradise for the second year in a row! Cannot recommend highly enough! Kate is such a wonderful owner to work with and she really provides everything you need in the property. The beach is a half a block (if that) from your front door and we found ourselves strolling the sand every morning and evening. If you are looking to stay in Newport Beach, you won't find a better place, a place that makes you feel like you're home!
