Cute & cozy bungalow tucked in the woods on a quiet road just outside Jacksonport, Wisconsin, lies this cozy cottage. With only a quick 5-minute drive to a sandy public beach on Lake Michigan, you don’t have to go far to explore the beauty of the great lakes. We greatly encourage you to explore the backroads on two bikes we’ve provided and immerse yourself in Wisconsin. This homey bungalow is great for a family or a couples getaway!

The Space-
Our cottage is a mix ofmodern and vintage. Just recently renovated and updated, we keep this home cozy and comfortable without losing a cabin-esque charm everyone loves.
Have your morning cup of coffee on our amazing front porch while enjoying the sound of waves crashing against the bluff in the distance. Take a walk into our beautifully landscaped backyard with paths leading to a firepit fit for roasting marshmallows. Grill out on the back deck, all while taking in the scenery. Don’t forget to glance up at the night skies; we promise they are show-stoppers. A perk of being on the quiet side of Door County.

This relaxed cottage allows you to escape the busy towns' hustle and bustle while remaining close to some of the best parks and beaches. Some of our local favorites within a 3-mile radius include Cave Point and Whitefish Dunes, which you can’t miss. Cave Point is one of the most beautiful parks around, and Whitefish dunes boast hundreds of feet of sandy beach and miles of trails for hiking and cross-country skiing.
With only 1 mile to Jacksonport Beach and Lakeside park, you’re right by all the necessities Jacksonport offers. Grab goodies from the local bakery, eat and drink at two great restaurants, rent kayaks or bicycles from either of the local tour companies and grab some meats for grilling from a quaint grocery store.

Sleep-
Bedroom one includes a queen bed, dresser, closet, full-length mirror, USB charging ports, and custom-designed accent wall. Located on the front side of the house, open the windows and enjoy the waves crashing as you drift off to sleep.
Bedroom two includes a queen bed. Located on the backside of the house, this room has a full-length mirror, plenty of storage, and tons of peace and quiet.

Peaceful getaway in the WOODS. Literally in the woods. The home is decorated in a lovely neutral palette with abundant and comfortable furniture. Everything seemed well designed for relaxing. Between scurrying around Door County it was lovely to return “home” to the quiet side of the peninsula. It seemed like every village was no more than 20 minutes away via the backroads and Google Maps did well, with only a couple exceptions. We enjoyed grilling out on the solid top grill, including making scrambled eggs outside in the fresh air and eating at the picnic table. We did not light a campfire for fear of setting the neighboring trees ablaze. But alternatively it was nice to sit on the front porch rocking chairs and listen to the waves crashing across the street. Cave Point is about a 5 minute drive from the home. We did not need to use the laundry room, I would have preferred to have had a second bathroom. Our group was two couples, so at times we needed to juggle who was using the bathroom. We had the back bedroom. It’s decorated nicely but did not have a ceiling fan as the front bedroom had, which was disappointing. The bed was rather firm but the linens were very nice. I wish it had been larger, it felt like only a full size bed. A queen would certainly have fit in the room. That would be my only complaint. We were recommended to bring bottled water but we found the well water to be delicious. All in all, I can certainly recommend this home!

Good Folk House was an absolutely wonderful stay. It was very comfortable and lacked for nothing. My sister and I stayed here for just over a week. It is nestled in the woods and made for a quiet and peaceful retreat. Our hosts responded to any questions in good time. They care for their property and ensure their guests enjoy a carefree vacation experience. We won’t hesitate to look them up the next time we visit Door County. Thank you Steve and Jessica!

This is the cleanest rental I have ever stayed at. This place is perfect. Bigger and nicer than the pictures online. Close to beach and cave point. Easy drive to all the cute towns. In a wooded area so if you like to sit outside bring bug spray for the evenings. Around the corner from a tiny 150 year old Methodist church that was so charming and had a beautiful Sunday service, welcoming to all guests. Kayak trip was well worth it. We also hirsebacked, wine tasting, shopping Washington Island Ferry (lavender farm, schoolhouse beach and Viking Chapel), Sturgeon Bay Lighthouse walk, shops, beach and cave point for jumping and rock climbing.

Great location. Right down from the beach and downtown Jacksonport. Love the bikes they have to ride into town and enjoy the restaurants and beach. Home was nicely decorated. Kitchen was fully stocked with every cooking item you could need. The flattop grill outside was a welcomed surprise. Great wooded backyard for campfires. Beds were comfortable and a nice sized shower after a day at the beach. Great porch to enjoy. Would highly recommend this property.

We had an amazing stay at the Good Folk House! The home was beautifully furnished, spotless, and stocked with everything we could possibly need—and more. The location couldn’t have been better for exploring the peninsula. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, it offered the perfect sense of peace and privacy. Just a short walk down the road brought us to the shoreline, where we enjoyed stunning views and the soothing sound of the waves. We've stayed in several VRBO's in Door County and this one is now a favorite! Thank you, Steve and Jessica, for sharing your lovely home with us. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

This was a nice place in a quiet neighborhood. Loved the decor, wished there were more board games for families. Fire pit was fun, could use better seating. There was a smell of mildew or mold when we arrived but contacted the owner and they responded quickly stating we could open windows and run AC to help. They were addressing the smell after our stay. Very responsive owners.

Overall a good experience, it was cute, homey and comfortable, in a nice quiet wooded area. I would say this listing is exactly as described. When we arrived it was a hot day and the AC was not running. Turns out it was the breaker that was somehow tripped before our arrival. Owner quickly replied with suggestions but we ended up figuring it out ourselves. There was a damp sour smell when we arrived that I believe was due to the lack of AC because it got better after a couple days. There are a few recommendations I would make. I would have felt more comfortable with more window treatments. The place was clean except for the patio door track has been neglected if a wipe down for a while. One day we decided to sleep in, well, we thought we were going to sleep in, but alas, the yard got mowed. Would have been nice to have timed that out better. Also highly recommend pest control. There were many carpenter ants as well as a few smaller ants and a few earwigs. I would be concerned with the damage the carpenter ants may be doing. Oh, one final thing, we put the puzzle together and it is missing a piece so don’t spend any time looking for the word boil in fish boil, it is not there lol. Loved the books and the area guidebook and suggestions and the map art in the kitchen!

The cottage was very spacious for the two of us, comfortable, safe, quiet, everything we wanted. We ate lots of meals at the cottage and were pleased with the room to cook, dine, all the utensils we needed, good grill and picnic table on backyard patio. Any and all questions were answered promptly and clearly with offers for phone discussion if needed. Check in and check out was smooth. Secure entry was easy to figure out and no problem. Clean, cool temp inside despite the heat outdoors. Convenient location for our plans and destinations each day. Highly recommend staying here.
