La Cave forms the major part of a pre-Napoleonic house, this fully self-contained two-bedroom gîte is nestled in the picturesque Dordogne valley itself, midway between the medieval towns of Rocamadour and Beynac.
We are located in an elevated position offering easy access to all that the area has to offer.

The house has been recently sympathetically restored keeping many original features, comprising of a large french farmhouse style kitchen/dining room which offers large double oven range style cooker, washing machine, dish washer, large fireplace with log burner, fridge/freezer, microwave, and large farmhouse table that seats eight.
A stunning vaulted lounge with beautiful views over the valley, two leather sofas seating six and 55 inch tv with Uk and French tv channels, a playstation2 for cds, dvds and games, and also selection of books.
Two light, airy and comfortable bedrooms, one double with antique wrought iron bed, wardrobe and lovely views over a duck pond, and a twin room with wooden high polished beds.
there is new bathroom with jet shower cubicle.
Ideal for families or couples looking for an active holiday or restful getaway.
The area can cater to a huge variety of interests. We are a stones throw away from popular cycle routes and 200m from the Dordogne river, perfect for canoeing, kayaking or fishing.
Our two local villages of Carlux and St Julien de Lampon have restaurants, bars, Boulangeries, general stores, a chemist, post offices, churches and even a castle. A larger supermarket is just a ten minute drive in the local town of Souillac.

Fancy something a bit more relaxed Take a wander around the many beautiful medieval towns located within a short drive and sample the food and wine the region is famous for: duck, foie gras and walnut (the locally produced walnut wine is particularly splendid!) Twice a week Sarlat hosts a large public market, take the opportunity to bring back some local produce and have dinner in the comfort of your own farmhouse style kitchen, or a bbq al fresco enjoying the scenic countryside.
Hosts live discreetly to the rear of the property with own access.

The lovely, well maintained, and unique property was perfect for our vacation. The host, Richard, was most helpful and was available for questions before and during our visit, as needed. The home is well appointed and very comfortable. We utilized the kitchen each night and found it to be well stocked with needed appliances and kitchenware. This enjoyable home is located in a perfect place for exploring the Dordogne!

The property is just as advertised. In fact, better than advertised. The pictures do not do justice to this uniquely distinct accommodation. It is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished with everything one needs to enjoy their time in this beautiful area of the world. Richard and Karol are perfect hosts, thoughtful and considerate of their guests needs without being intrusive. Time flew by much too quickly and we hope to return to continue the adventure of exploring this beautiful part of the Dordogne - hopefully in these same accommodations.

The property was as described on the website. It was very quiet, interesting and well equipped. The owners were on hand and ready with helpful suggestions of places to visit but were in no way intrusive. Beds were comfortable and the shower room well appointed. We had a lovely week and would happily return should we be in the area again

Being our first visit to the south of France, we hoped that we had made the right choice for our home. We could not have been more pleased. The home has been meticulously/thoroughly renovated. The rooms are large and very well appointed. Every need has been provided. The large country kitchen/dining area provides all that one could ask for. The large living room is very large but feels cozy because of the vaulted ceiling. The hosts, Karol & Richard, make you feel like family. They assure your privacy but are there if you have questions. They are the perfect hosts. It's location was perfect. We booked a three week stay and enjoyed every day of it. We could have stayed longer. Absolutely no regrets here!!!!

This holiday home is beautifully presented and very well equipped with everything necesssary for a comfortable stay in this lovely area. Being part of a very old stone building - with of course the amazing vaulted stone sitting room - it has great character and has been pleasantly and sympathetically modernised throughout. During our stay in November the weather turned quite cold and it was necessary to make use of the wood burning stove in the kitchen - which Richard the owner supplied plenty of logs for - and two portable electric heaters for the other rooms. Being in an elevated postion the property has good views of the surrounding countryside and a pleasant terraced area with dining furniture outside.
