Captains Quarters Coastal Bliss in Broadkill Pet Friendly

The house was fine but old and could use a good clean and maintenance

Property is close to beach. Plenty of room for 4 adults, 2 small children and our fur babies. The host supplied bedding and plenty of towels. House was clean and comfortable. Outside property could use some weed trimming and a sprayer on end of hose would help with cleaning sand off. Overall it was a wonderful mini vacation and we would stay here again. Thank you Robin!

The house was as shown and described, just right for our family of four plus dog. Easy to deal with the owner, comfortable and bonus of short walk to the Broadkill Store for nightly ice cream.

This property is in an excellent location, four houses from beach access in quiet and friendly residential community. The beach is truly wonderful, the surf calm enough to allow confident swimming with young kids. The house itself could use some repairs and a deep clean, and renters should be aware that the enclosed sun porch and one of of the bathrooms are not air conditioned. This cuts down on the usable shared living space. Beds were no frills but comfortable. There are plenty of extra towels for indoor use but no hair dryer. The kitchen is tiny, with zero food storage space outside the fridge, but the backyard grill is wonderful. The more rustic attributes of the property did not bother us much. We had a GREAT week with two of our kids and their families and will definitely consider returning to the area for future trips.

The Good Let me start by saying Robin was a wonderful host & answered any questions that we had. The location was perfect, just a block from the ocean, & there was ample parking. The back deck was amazing. A great spot for grilling & hanging out. There was more than enough space for everyone to sleep & the house was comfortable. The Needs Work There are a few things that could be improved that would bump it up to 5 stars. For some reason in almost every room there was an outlet that didn't work. There are no towels hooks for hand towels in the bathrooms, so you kind of just have to drap them on the door knobs & hope they don't fall. The light in the bedroom closest to the bathroom didn't work (but the fan did) & the light switch did nothing. The back door & sliding door were both incredible difficult to close. The AC kept auto adjusting to 78* which made the house very hot, especially in the middle of the night. There was no book or instructions on the house, so we didn't know what the checkout instructions were. The house was also randomly supplied. More than enough towels & toilet paper, but only one roll of paper towels & one garbage bag. They supplied dishwasher detergent (but had no dishwasher) but not clothing detergent. I know it sounds nit-picky, but when you are paying almost $800 a night for a place you expect a little better. Also the spiral staircase is incredibly narrow. I had to go up sideways, and it is the only inside stairs. Not sure if that can be fixed
