Fall colors are gorgeous here now with beautiful weather - BOOK NOW for best availability! Here’s a guest review from a recent stay: “Mill Run Chalet is perfect in so many ways. My husband and I and our daughter and her husband spent an amazing week in August in this magical place. We cooked most meals in the fully equipped kitchen, ate some meals and played board games on the huge deck overlooking a well groomed lawn that sloped easily to a creek that flows into a river borderingthe property. Both creek and river flowing over rocks lulled us to sleep at night as we slept with windows open. Even though the chalet is air conditioned, we experienced cool to brisk nights after occasional rains. No guarantee on the weather, but I can guarantee the hosts, who live across the creek, were friendly and responsive. They suggested several local amenities of which we partook. It was fun to hike, chase waterfalls in nearby Parkway areas and to visit both Waynesville and Canton, then return to Mill Run with it feeling like a cozy home. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet getaway with easy access to much in the mountains.”

Overview:
Mill Run Chalet is located on a private unique family property featuring both the Pigeon River and McClure Creek - secluded with wilderness behind - yet low enough off of Rt. 215 for very easy year round access. The sound of the creek's tumbling water at night in all of the bedrooms is enough to soothe the soul! The chalet has a wonderful large outside deck for dining while listening to the creek, and taking in the fabulous mountain air and scenery.

Lake Logan is a very short drive from Mill Run Chalet and is now open to the public for boating, fishing and swimming (subject to weekday pass availability.) Great news for guests of Mill Run looking for additional nearby recreational activities.

Walkers or hikers may be interested to know that easy and pleasant walks abound without having to get into your car. Heading up the unpaved country road along McClure Creek will take you past rolling pastures and creek side homes - some local families and other's summer homes. If you’re lucky, you’ll see cows and/or wild turkeys grazing in the fields.

The Blue Ridge Parkway in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is just 10 miles up the road with beautiful waterfalls and scenery along the way. Ample fishing streams also abound nearby.

Beautiful Downtown Waynesville with shopping, restaurants and breweries is a scenic 15 minute drive. Asheville with Biltmore Estate and it’s amazing, diverse opportunities is an easy 30 to 40 minutes.

Mill Run Chalet is located at the foot of Cold Mountain and just outside of the Pisgah National Forest.

Kitchen remodeled Summer 2021 with quartz countertops and brand new GE Appliances! Updated wormy chestnut cabinetry and antique pie safe for additional pantry storage. Low maintenance Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring in all downstairs areas of the cabin. Although the living room has a fireplace, it is not operational for safety reasons due to chimney damage. There is a beautiful newly upgraded outdoor fire pit area (firewood provided), perfect for stories and s’mores! Weber charcoal grill also onsite.

The downstairs master bedroom has a queen bed and bathroom with updated walk-in shower. Upstairs has a full/double bed, two twins, and a bathroom with tub/shower combination.

3 BR (1 Queen, 1 Full, 2 Twins), 2 Bath, Fully Equipped Kitchen: Newer GE Refrigerator, Range, Microwave Dishwasher, and Washer/Dryer. Electric Heat, Air Conditioning, Ceiling Fans, DirectTV Satellite, large Flat Screen TV in LR.

***NEW!!! High Speed Wireless Internet (Skyrunner) just installed!***

The property's name, Mill Run, comes from the early electricity-generating water wheel which stood on the creek just above the ford, supplying local power.

The farm bell at the foot of the deck stairs comes from early days in the family's central Florida citrus groves.

The Mill Stone is from an old grain mill in the local area.

The locomotive bell on the low driveway stone wall was atop an early Southern Railroad engine.

The house's interior wormy chestnut was from the original mountain summer house dating from the early 20th century which stood on the same spot.

The log cabins on the property were reconstructed here, the fireplace cabin from the old Sunburst Ranch Little East Fork in 1954, and the sleeping cabin from Hungry Creek off Rt 276 in 1963. The hand-hewed and notched poplar logs themselves date from the early 19th century. If the cabin is unoccupied by family during your stay, feel free to use the porch swing, especially to hear the rain on its tin roof !

Mill Run is a peaceful rare gem in these beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Book today to secure your stay in this special place!

Beautiful, charming older home with gorgeous view of the mountains as well as a creek running through the property. Can only imagine how beautiful it is in the spring or fall. Fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and even spices for cooking. Most pet friendly place we have stayed with a dog bed and dishes available for use. We had a problem with our email and did not receive the welcome email but the host provided the information we needed. Would love to visit again.

This comfy and welcoming home is sitting on an idyllic property with views of the Pidgeon river on the front of the house and a babbling brook on the side of the house. If you need peace and relaxation, you need to stay at this house! It was wonderful and the hosts are super nice!!!

Beautiful property right on the river. Went with the family for a long weekend and it could not be better. The creek is right there and so relaxing. The house itself is cozy and full of history. You’re just down the road from Canton, which has a lot to offer, and then the other direction has countless outdoor activities. Check out the Ten Acre Farm while you’re there. Check in process is easy, kitchen is well equipped, and the beds are very comfortable.

The Mill Run Chalet was absolutely perfect for our family of 5. The property was spectacular, with McClure Creek running through the center and the Pigeon River along the perimeter. Mountain views in just about every direction! Inside, the house had ample seating, a fully loaded kitchen, comfortable beds, tons of blankets, and just about anything we could have needed this Thanksgiving. The chalet was also pet friendly, making it easy to look after our 2 small dogs. The gravel roadway around the house made for a perfect morning and evening walk, and the local farm made for interesting new friends for our dogs. The host family went above and beyond to check on us throughout the trip. We will be going back!

I had planned to stay at this property with my family starting the day Hurricane Helene hit the southeast. Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip due to the flooding in the area. I cannot say enough about the owner and her family. They kept us safe and informed about what was going on. I wish you all a speedy recovery and hope to come visit your beautiful property in the future. Also, thank you for making the cancellation/refund process painless.
