Stayed Dec 27, 2025Overall we enjoyed the Prancing Pony. We stayed over the winter and while the neighbors were a little closer than we expected it was a quiet week in the neighborhood.Pros: Cozy space. Gas kitchen. Access to the lake across the street and easy access to XC ski trails up the road. Lengthy and thoughtful list of recommendations (food, etc) from the host. Main level and upstairs stayed warm even without us using the fireplace.Cons: Very strong smell of sulfur in the tap water, especially hot water. No king beds (although we knew that going into the rental). No snow removal service provided which was inconvenient given it snowed almost the entire week we were there. Basement ‘suite’ was nice space but quite cold and we couldn’t get the TV to work. Overall a relaxing place to spend time and we would recommend it to others.

Stayed Oct 24, 2025The location was very good and the hostess easy to communicate with. The beds and pillows were wonderful!!We do have suggestions though...we couldn't find any kitchen towels or kitchen cloths. It would be good to have a clean sponge in wrapper and starter items such as a roll of paper towels, a small bag of coffee.

Stayed Aug 4, 2025Our family of 5 plus 1 dog had a wonderful stay at the charming Prancing Pony! Unfortunately, Canadian wildfire smoke kept us indoors for a couple of the days, but the comfortable accommodations and well-stocked kitchen (regarding cooking tools) allowed us to share memorable & fun moments just the same. Access to the beautiful beach was awesome, and we were there walking our dog several times a day. Options for bowling, mini-golf, and shopping in Sturgeon Bay were a breeze, and there were many restaurants close by. When my family returns to Door County, we absolutely will be hopping to stay here again!

Stayed Jul 26, 2025We had a wonderful stay at the Prancing Pony. The house is very charming and has plenty of space. Everything was as-advertised and you can’t beat the location just down the road from the beach! They’ve also added a keypad lock which makes it much easier to come and go.

Stayed Jun 22, 2025We spent a fun week in this adorable home! Loved the design and decor of the house. It was well-appointed and very comfortable. Laura was an extremely helpful and kind host - she sent many recommendations that assisted us in having a wonderful week in Door Country (our first visit to this area). I hope we make it to the area again next year as we had a great time!

Stayed Jun 7, 2025Beds are very comfortable. Decor is cute. Owner/manager is responsive and nice. Sound travels thru house due to architecture so lacking a certain amount of privacy. Prepare for mosquitoes and beware poison ivy in general vicinity (trails).

Stayed Oct 16, 2024Wonderful stay at Prancing Pony. Laura was responsive and great at communicating. The house was clean and provided everything we needed for a great relaxing stay in Door Co. The neighborhood is quiet and a small public beach just down the road provided a great place for morning and evening walks along the shore of Lake Michigan.

Stayed Oct 10, 2024The Prancing Pony is a lovely, quiet spot perfectly situated to be away from the hustle and bustle of Door County towns but close enough to access everything you want to do. Super comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen and good community spaces large enough for games and an occasional sporting event on the large flat screen tv met of family’s needs.

Stayed Aug 17, 2024Very nice, rustic, well kept property. Plenty of room for my family of 4 plus 1. Property had a beautiful view of Lake MI from the deck and access to the lake was only a few doors down across the street. The sandy beach was great for long walks and just hangin’ out.

Stayed Aug 4, 2024We are from St. Louis, but used to live in Wisconsin, so have been to Door County several times. We were looking for a quiet spot for a week of relaxing vacation for our two high school and two college kids - our full family of six. The Prancing Pony was PERFECT! The property itself worked well for a family of our size. A very nice outdoor patio over the garage where I drank my coffee every morning with a nice view of the lake through the trees across the road. The kitchen was well appointed and a fun place to cook and serve food on the nights we stayed in. The living room offered a quiet reading spot and the back TV room was a bonus that the teenagers definitely took advantage of. This is a rustic Norwegian-style house, with beautiful wood beams and antique furniture throughout. It was clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning for our mid-August visit, but the weather was fine, and we loved sleeping in the cool evenings with the windows open. The location was close enough for many fun day trips. Close to Donny's Glidden Lodge Restaurant and the Hitching Post - we ate at both - excellent. A small, but nice public beach across and down the street - maybe a 5 minute walk? Convenient location for all the activities and we did a lot. Boating/fishing in Bailey's Harbor. Taking the ferry over to Washington Island. Great hiking everywhere - we loved nearby Cave Point County Park. Golf. Fish Boil. Shopping. An amazing trip!

Stayed Jul 20, 2024This is a great rustic and spacious home to access a very special beach. I’ve been roaming these shores since I was a little, and now I bring my own kids. It has the feel of a classic Door County getaway.
