ALOE II - Flower Houses in Alonissos island

We had a magical week staying at the Flower Houses in Alonissos. This is a hidden gem, with the beautiful houses set in wonderful gardens right on the sea. The houses are very comfortable and well catered for with everything you need. Panos and his mother Stella are amazing hosts and are happy to help in every way. The little village of Steni Vali is within walking distance with lovely Tavernas and a local shop, plus a great local beach bar. Everything is on hand for a relaxing and perfect escape from it all. We will definitely return!

This place is paradise. If anything, it's even more perfect than you expect it to be from reviews and photos. The location is amazing - the houses are on Glyfa beach, in plenty of space but 5 minutes in one direction from the lovely little port of Steni Vala, with its great tavernas, diving facilities and supermarket, and 5 minutes in the other direction from a beach café. Glyfa beach is really chilled and is a great place to relax. Alonnisos is very, very quiet and peaceful, and we think that this is the perfect spot to enjoy it. The houses themselves are immaculate and very well equipped and have amazing views of the sea and the island of Peristera. The gardens are lovely and there are plenty of little spots to sit in the shade of the olive trees. Panos and his mother couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive. Panos picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry port in Patitiri and was always incredibly helpful. He arranged for us to rent a car for a day with very little notice. I cannot recommend this place more highly.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Flower Houses. Panos and his family were very welcoming and kind, collecting us off the ferry and making sure we had everything we needed, including providing some food basics for the first day. The location is idyllic; right back from a lovely (pebbled) beach with clear calm water. Steni Vala is a 5-10 minute walk where there is a small supermarket and a series of restaurants. Agios Petros beach is a further 10 mins walk over a headland and is beautiful with a mixture of sand and pebbles. The property was clean and well furnished with a balcony overlooking the sea and a second outdoor table round the side of the house. Overall we found this a wonderfully relaxing spot for us and our children (4 years old and 11-month old twins). Highly recommended

We stayed there with our family including 2 young children (18 months and 4 yo) and it was amazing. Everything was perfect. From the communication, the pick up from the boat, the arrival, the welcome touches like a full breakfast ready to be prepared in the fridge, the place, the amazing view, the cristal water, … The hosts had organized for a baby bed, and were full of attentions. They even organized for us to switch to a smaller house to do a late check out as our boat was leaving in the afternoon. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer… Thank you!

We stayed in Aloe ll and the other villa just below called Jasmine. The flower houses are in a lovely setting, right on the beach but in their own little compound. My sister and her husband stayed here with her two children - it has an outdoor shower too which the kids loved. Monos and his family were so welcoming, his mum Stella was always on hand, watering the garden or housekeeping one of the villas. They are a lovely family, really helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend this villa for couples, couples with kids, or if you wanted larger groups then the flower houses are the perfect setting if you’re able to rent them all at the same time. There’s a beach bar which is a 1 minute walk away, or a quick swim away. The bars and restaurants in Steni Vala are only a 5 minute walk. Highly recommend, we can’t wait to go back!

We have stayed in a number of apartments and this was the best one ever. It was beautifully presented, clean and had everything we needed. The view from the apartment was amazing and we swam in the sea most days. Our hosts were fantastic - collecting us from the port and taking us into town when the buses stopped. Also, when they took us to the ferry at the end of the stay, the ferry company had changed the time of departure (without telling us!), our host drove us right up to the ferry and helped us on board just as the ferry was leaving! He was fantastic! I would recommend any staying here.

A great location, just up from the beach (only access from a board-walk along the beach, but that was no problem). Friendly hosts, son runs a car rental business. All good. Tip: we came from Gatwick to Volos, then ferry, but it is possible to go from London City to Skiathos and then a shorter ferry journey.
