Creekstone Cabin - NC Mountain Cabin Sleeps 4

Asheville, North Carolina

Rustic and inviting cabin along a lovely mountain creek, borders Pisgah National Forest. You will love relaxing on the deck under the trees listening to the peaceful sounds of our creek. Inside your private retreat you will find a full kitchen, comfortable dining and living areas including TV, Blue Ray player and free high-speed wireless Internet access. Spend the cool evenings in front of a cozy fire. Nestled at the base of Mount Pisgah, your backyard is over 80,000 acres of protected National Forest. Enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and long nature walks just outside the front door. Take a leisurely drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, just four miles from the cabin. At Creekstone Cabin you're only a 20-minute drive to Asheville and the best the area has to offer in attractions, entertainment, dining, shopping, outdoor activities, and more.

The upstairs loft is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase to the catwalk (see pictures) leading to the bed area at one end and the dressing area at the other. Please mind your head up here as the ceiling is vaulted and the highest clearance is only 6 feet. The bed faces creek side, letting you drift off to sleep to its soothing sound. When you awaken, you will find yourself just below canopy level looking down on the moss and rhododendron-covered back yard; a great way to greet your day. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and is also faces creek side so everyone gets lulled to sleep by the burbling creek.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, bakeware and your serving/dining needs. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, mixer, utensils, paper and cleaning products, and full sized stove and range; everything you need to prepare a great meal. In the cabinet above the microwave you will find growlers to a couple of our local breweries and we hope you put them to good use!
The living area is a great place to relax for conversation or a good book in front of a crackling fire. Enjoy a movie from our library or stream from the cabin's Netflix account or your own streaming service via ROKU. Use your mobile device to stream your own music playlists through the Bluetooth equipped surround sound system. My cabin provides a great blend of rustic feel with the modern conveniences of the digital age.
The well lit bathroom has modern fixtures, and offers a shower/tub combination. While small it has what you need including hair dryer, soaps and shampoo in case you run short, and all your linen/paper needs.

The three season deck is just about every guest's favorite feature; a spacious 16' x 20' with gas grill, teak furniture, tiki torches and deck umbrella complete with lights! Great for entertaining, reading, watching the humming birds, goldfinches, and cardinals all to the backdrop of the burbling creek. To sit out here wrapped in the nurturing embrace of the woods will renew your strength and replenish your spirit.
Off the back of the deck is a path that leads across the creek and into the national forest. Enjoy a short hike to Stonybrook Creek (1/3 mile) or a 3 mile round trip journey up to the abandoned logging road on the ridge line above the cabin. Take a walk down the road and explore the modest homes and cabins in the area.
The Pisgah National Forest and DuPont Forest in the area offer more hiking than a person could possibly do in a lifetime. You will find hiking guide books and maps at the cabin that can help you decide which hikes are right for you. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 4 miles up the road from the cabin offering breath taking views, scenic drives, and (you guessed it!) plenty of hiking.

I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to consider booking my cabin. This truly is a special place that is precious to me; I miss living here every single day. My intent is to return and make Creekstone Cabin my permanent residence in 2020, maybe earlier if I'm very lucky. It has been a joy for me to share the cabin with like-minded people, looking for respite from life's demands. I am truly grateful to all my guests; you make it possible for me to hold on to this rustic gem.

Such a wonderful, restful place! Going to sleep by the sound of the creek in the back was perfect . The cabin was also located near family, so they enjoyed a cookout at the cabin. Looking forward to many more visits!

We wish we had scheduled more time to just be at the cottage!

We felt at home in a vacation-y sort of way, like we had been coming here for years. The cabin is comfy and has everything you might need, including the burbling creek for a lullaby.

    Great Family Getaway

We came to Maggie Valley with our grown children for some good times, and relaxation. We found all of that at your cabin and had the Greatest time! We look forward to coming back again soon. We would all like to thank you for making us feel at home.

    Great summer escape!

We have visited the asheville/Candler area a few times and love the beauty of this area. The Creekstone Cabin was the perfect cozy spot for our week in July. We found the cabin neat as a pin and well stocked with kitchen wares and lots of towels & linens. Our daughter & son, who are 12 & 13 years old...loved that they could split the loft area up for privacy. The cabin is nestled nicely among mature trees that were filled with birds all times of the day. The sound of the creek was a nice backdrop to our "happy hour" on the deck in the early evening. We even spotted a few hummingbirds defending their turf from the larger jays. It was a nice place for us to come home to after long days exploring the area and whitewater rafting. It was just a short drive to the Biltmore, which is a really nice way to spend a day, and with the kitchen at the cabin, I would recommend packing a picinic to take to the Estate. After we checked out, we had spent a few days with friends who live in the area, and we realized that my husband had left a few shirts in the closet at the cabin...we called Beth (the caretaker) and her husband drove to town to drop them off to us. The kind gesture is a great example of how nice our experience was at the cabin. We have recommended the property to our friends who live in the area, in case they have other out of town guests. In addition, the price for our stay was equal to what you would pay at an economy hotel, but much more ammenities and tons of charm.

    Wonderful experience

Everything was incredible. The attention to detail was very nice. You could tell the owner really cared about small touches. The wireless was an unexpected treat.

    Tranquility in the Woods

We enjoyed our stay at Creekstone Cabin. It was one of the better furnished places we have ever rented and also, the cleanest. We enjoyed sitting out on the front patio for our evening meal and watching the lightening bugs and hearing the babbling brook that is behind the cabin. The only thing I could fault was the cabin smelled musty. It is in complete shade and very humid there. I don't know what could be done to alleviate this but it did bother me. Also, it does sleep 4 but the second "bedroom" is a loft. It is up a very narrow and steep spiral staircase . The owner did tell us about this as it is not suitable for small children. And the ceiling is part of the roof, so you have to duck to get in and out of bed for fear of bumping your head on the roof/ceiling.

I had a wonderful time, the cabin was the right fit, cozy, wished i could have spent more time there then hiking, most relaxing while there. Loved the neighborhood watch dog : )

    wonderful,relaxing and comfortable.

This cabin was so much better than we even hoped for.It was clean and really well stocked with anything you could possibly need for our stay.I love how it felt isolated but had close neighbors which was important for a bunch of ladies.I loved the woods and the creek behind the cabin.I had some good walks in the evenings.I would definitely want to go back again.

    Simply Sweet Little Cabin

    5/5 Stayed Mar 1, 2016

My husband and I stayed for three nights in March as a little get away for our wedding anniversary. We loved this little cabin. It was everything we had hoped for and more. We enjoyed the little creek sounds at night, the nice little deck and the warm and welcoming little wood stove with the roaring fire that helped relax us at night. John checked in with us on our arrival date to make sure we were comfortable. Very nice and caring man. There is a great, easy hike that starts less than a block down the road - took us a couple hours to complete - scenery on this hike was just lovely - would recommend that hike. Overall...we can't wait to come back for a second visit. Thank you John, we felt love and peace surrounding us during our stay.

    Awesome get away

I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to have a quiet get away. The location does make you drive at least 20 minutes to get anywhere and there is no cell reception but it honestly adds to the overall experience.

Ideal Location for Enjoying and Exploring all of what Western North Carolina has to Offer.

The cabin is so wonderful. All the comforts one could ask for. Super clean and well supplied. Situated in the Hominy Valley Near Asheville, It was close to a grocery, restaurants and pubs. However, it backed up to Mt. Pisgha so it was remote at the same time. I loved the fact that the cabin was only 20 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This will be my first choice in lodging for future excursions to the Asheville area.

By far one of the best get aways we've been to.

It was truly a great experience and I highly recommend staying here. When it came time for us to leave we did not want to. We contemplated calling and see if we could stay another night.

I left my heart at Creekstone Cabin!!

STOP! THIS is definitely the cabin you want! Creekstone cabin is an adorable, well maintained,VERY clean cabin which sits right in front of a beautiful, bubbling creek. The back yard has hiking paths that lead to some of the most gorgeous scenery you can imagine!! Creekstone is a peaceful and serene escape, yet close enough to many fun and exciting activities. My boys and I spent our days hiking, exploring downton Asheville, visiting sliding rock natural water slide, white water rafting, and even gem mining!! Evenings were spent grilling on the spacious deck, listening to the sounds of the creek, and enjoying the amazing sights of nature around us. Once inside for the night, we watched DVDs from the owner,John's, impressive collection. Speaking of John, he is awesome to deal with! Very friendly, quick to respond to all questions, he graciously offers information on things to see and do in the area, and definitely makes sure you feel at home during your stay! I HIGHLY recommend renting Creekstone Cabin! You WILL NOT be disappointed!!

As many (most) of the other reviews have said, this is a charming, quiet, well decorated cabin and has everything you could ask for to make your stay a delightful experience. However, I have not given the cabin a perfect review for two reasons. The first is the master bedroom, which is located in a loft above the main living area. While it is charming it's not suitable for anyone over 6 foot tall. I'm 6'3" tall and if I attempted to sleep in this room I would have to duck everywhere I walked and would have probably hit my head each time I got out of bed. Even my wife who is only 5'6" tall had to make sure she walked down the center of the room! The second thing I didn't like about the cabin is the steel spiral staircase to the master bedroom. It was very narrow to navigate, especially if you have big feet, and also something you wouldn't want to go up and down in the middle of the night. You also had to use caution when leaving the kitchen so you didn't hit your head, as the stair case is very close to the door opening. In closing it was hard not to give this cabin a better review, but I felt future guests should be aware of the above drawbacks before making their reservations.

    Perfect Getaway

We had a great time at the Creek stone cabin! The cabin was clean, well stocked, and felt like home! We loved the creek behind the house and exploring the trails and area!

The Cabin Met All of our Expectations

We so thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. It is stocked with everything you can imagine. The location is perfect for exploring the Pisgah forest; you are minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway. And conveniently located to Asheville and other surrounding towns. Loved the amenities of Wi-Fi and Netflix and a basket filled to the brim of tourist information. If it had been a different time of year, we would have taken advantage of the hiking trails just behind the cabin. The cabin owner and the caretaker are very attentive to your needs. You won't regret choosing this cabin for your stay!

    Perfect cabin!

This adorable cabin was perfect for my husband and I on our big celebratory trip. It was far enough away from town to feel like your in the mountains, but close enough to easily zip down for the fun to be had in Asheville. John was so helpful with the whole process!

Beautiful, quaint and cozy cabin! Everything we were expecting and more.

My boyfriend and I stayed here a week too celebrate our 3 year anniversary. We were so in love with the cabin as soon we stepped inside. We enjoyed sipping our morning coffee on the patio while listening to the sounds of the forest and the babbling brook behind the cabin. Such a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle yet still so close to grocery stores, restaurants, etc. We didn't want to leave after it was all said and done! John was great in checking up on us and we spoke briefly to the caretaker and she seemed wonderful as well! Definitely recommend!

    Perfect mountain getaway

The Creekstone Cabin was absolutely perfect. We loved the location - the trail out back was lovely, the drive up to the parkway was curvy and fun with stunning views, and close enough to Asheville to do some exploring in town. The cabin was so cute and cozy - the spiral stairs do take some getting used to! The kitchen is well stocked - far better than I expected it to be, not only with spices, oil, etc. but also all of the dishes, pans, baking dishes you could need (maybe another glass wine glass would be nice), allowing us to make some yummy meals, when not gorging ourselves on all Asheville has to offer. The growlers and daypack were a nice touch - they have thought of everything to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Thank you!

    Nicley appointed

    5/5 Stayed Apr 1, 2017

While not totally secluded, this clean and well appointed cabin was a great find for an Asheville Spring Break trip. All you need to bring are clothes and food. Nice to have a cabin equipped with kitchen supplies (baggies, dish soap, spices, etc) so you don't have to buy everything. Washer and dryer nice so you can pack light. 15-20 minutes drive to local grocery stores which have great selections of produce, local beers and wines. 30 minute or less drive into Asheville to enjoy the city. Beds are super comfy. Fireplace really works to warm the cabin., Weather was mostly cool and rainy during our stay, which was disappointing. We wanted to explore the trail behind the house, but no go. Creek behind cabin provided lovely ambient noise to fall asleep to. Bathroom had all supplies and good amount of towels. Deck is on side of house with excellent grill. Maybe owner would consider adding a deck at the back for better privacy and view of woods/creek. Owner was very responsive when we tried to get the Netflix to work (the previous occupants left the remote in the couch). Wifi worked well. Enjoyed the variety of DVDs as well. Just a note - really no cell service at cabin. Make sure friends and family know this if trying to get in touch with you.

Quiet, relaxing and beautifully equipped cabin

Great location just outside the city of Asheville. Right behind the house is a creek that was really great to listen to in the evening before going to sleep. We hiked the trails behind the cabin and really enjoyed the peacefulness of that area. We also drove 30 minutes and hiked some of the other great trails in Pisgah National Forest. John has a couple great maps/books to figure out where to hike. We went into Asheville a couple times for dinner and enjoyed our meals and beer. Asheville loves their craft brew!

    Wonderful Getaway

    5/5 Stayed May 1, 2017

This cabin was perfect for us. Quiet area. All you could hear were birds and the nearby creek. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed the convenience of hiking from the cabin to the nearby trail and the peacefulness of sitting on the large deck in the evenings. The only downfall was the location of the spiral staircase to the loft, but we quickly remembered it as there. If you like to mountains and peace & quiet, I highly recommend staying here. John (the owner) was very quick to answer any questions I had prior to arriving. He also provides lento of information on things to do in the area. The wi-fi worked great, which was appreciated so we could plan our travels for the next day. We had a very pleasant stay and are already talking about a possible visit later this year.

    Peaceful and quiet

Second visit, just as good as the first, if not better. Very peaceful setting. Owner and caretaker both take a personal interest in providing the best experience. Cabin is fully stocked and comfortable. There's a nice mountain stream just a few feet away to lull you to sleep; cross the quaint wooden bridge and enjoy some great hiking!

    Rustic Heaven!

    5/5 Stayed Jul 1, 2017

If you're looking for a cozy, CLEAN place in Asheville with AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE- you've found it!! From the moment we pulled in the drive, we knew we had found a little slice of rustic heaven! Most impressive is what you'll find inside. I'm big on smells (lol) and did expect that because it was a cabin, there would be that "cabin smell" (kinda musty dusty) but I was so pleasantly surprised it was so CLEAN and fresh! The bed that we slept in was SO COMFORTABLE and soft with a window you must open at night to hear the babbling little brook and sweet crickets that will lull you to peaceful sleep. No need to bring anything for the kitchen or laundry..John and Beth have it there for you! From the smallest details (zip lock bags) to the most needed (grilling utensils!) you're covered. On top of that- John is incredibly responsive to all communications both before your trip and after! My son (thinks) he left his brand new camera charger in an outlet and we have been in contact with him to try to retrieve it..did I say CUSTOMER SERVICE?? Thank you John and Beth.. we will be back

    Peaceful & Quiet

    5/5 Stayed Jul 1, 2017

Enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Even though there are other cabins near by, it was very peaceful & quiet. The spiral staircase and loft probably aren't for everyone, but once we got used to them were fine for us. Really enjoyed using the grill to make our own dinners and eat them out on the deck. Owner and caretaker both checked in to make sure everything was going OK. The brochures and magazines were very helpful as we planned our explorations of Asheville and the surrounding area. Wifi worked great and was also helpful to our planning. Was our first trip to Asheville and we had a great time!

    Perfect Cabin in the Woods!

    5/5 Stayed Aug 1, 2017

This place was exactly as described, and even better! It was in the middle of nowhere, and there was very little cell reception there (which was great for us, since my wife and I were on our honeymoon), but it was still only 15 minutes from civilization, and only 25 minutes from downtown Asheville! The house came stocked with all the basics and way more than we expected: towels, sheets, pillowcases, washer, dryer, pots, pans, spices, foil, plastic wrap, wifi, a fully-equipped Roku, etc. We are already thinking about going back soon, and we're telling all our friends and family to go too!

The Creekstone Cabin is a real gem! It is fully equipped for any needs you may have. It is easy to reach from Asheville and has a path from the back yard that crosses two small creeks before it reaches a nice trail that we hiked for about three hours.

    A fantastic Asheville cabin experience

    5/5 Stayed Nov 1, 2017

My wife and I were extremely impressed with the cabin. John and Beth really go the extra mile to provide everything you might need for a cozy stay. There are amenities in the kitchen, a system for music, a blu-ray player for movies, a great selection of movies, a fireplace with stacks of firewood...I could easily go on. We arrived at night after a long drive and it was amazing how warm and welcoming the cabin felt when we got there, even though we had never been there before. It's not a cabin in the isolated-from-others sense. There are neighbors on either side of the cabin. That was fine, however. There is a great mountain view directly in front of the cabin from the deck and the creek runs right behind the cabin- easily viewed through the back/kitchen window. There is a foot bridge built right over the creek leading to the mountain trail directly behind the cabin. There is a small waterfall not far from the bridge. Bring a camera. Bring a book as well- it's a great area for just taking it all in and relaxing. It's a bit of a drive to get to a gas station or a restaurant, but not overwhelming- about 10-15 minutes. The area is gorgeous. Asheville is about 20 minutes away and it's definitely worth a day trip to visit. I really couldn't find anything to complain about in regards to the cabin. John and Beth really do a fantastic job of making it welcoming and nearly self-sustaining for visitors. They left notes/contact numbers and were readily accessible had we required anything. There are only two issues I would mention- not as complaints, but something to be aware of if you are considering the cabin. One is the bathroom- specifically, the space allowed for the toilet. If you are a large or obese person, you will possibly feel cramped. The bathroom/ shower itself is fine. Just not a lot of room for anyone using the toilet. The other issue is the loft bedroom. While the loft is quite lovely and so-very-well set up, the staircase leading up to the loft is a tight fit and you have to bend down to walk to the bed. There is a ground floor room, so if you're going alone or as a couple, it's not an issue at all. If you go as two couples, though, make sure the younger couple get the loft. Anyway, to summarize- great cabin, great value, great experience, highly recommended.

    A cozy place to relax.

    Cute little cabin

The cabin was adorable and just what we were looking for.. close enough to get to Asheville when we wanted but out away from too many people. It is pretty tiny but has everything you need for a nice weekend away.. not sure 4 people would be comfy but perfect for 2.

    Great Getaway!

Loved the mountain location. Stream directly behind cabin was beautiful. 20-25 min to downtown Asheville and just a couple miles to grocery store. Great drive up the mountain to get to Blue Ridge Parkway that lead us to a great hike with waterfalls. Cabin had everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. A couple rainy nights but the cabin had some games to keep us entertained. Wifi was available. Loved the loft! So quiet!

    Relaxing Cabin in the Woods

The cabin was just outside of Asheville. Close but not too close. We spent the majority of our evenings on the deck. There was a gas grill and a great teak table and chairs with an umbrella lined with lights. We enjoyed the hummingbird feeder hung in front of the window. There were 3 very active hummingbirds that were always there competing for the food. The kitchen was well stocked with all the basics, as well as a washer and dryer. The living area had games, puzzles and plenty of dvd's! The bathroom was nice and updated with plenty of hot water :^) The only thing we thought the cabin really needed was new furniture (sofa's) in the living room. It was a great relaxing week!

We loved staying in this well stocked, super cute cabin in the woods! Quiet atmosphere, with plenty of small playful critters to entertain us and several brave hummingbirds flitting around the deck feeder. It was a perfect getaway..not too far from restaurants and grocery stores. Recommend driving up the Pisgah mountain to a delighful restaurant at the Pisgah Inn..what a awe inspiring view, not to mention delicious food!! We would love another stay! Thank you John!!!

We came to Asheville to see Chihuly at Biltmore and zip line for the first time. The Creekstone Cabin was the perfect place to end each busy day. Everything was in working order, beds are very comfortable, every accommodation was made to make our stay perfect. There had been a good amount of on and off rain showers, so it was disappointing we weren't able to enjoy the nice outdoor porch area. However, you can hear the birds chirping and the babbling stream when you leave a window open. What a way to wake up each day. The owners are great and the location is easy to access and close enough to surrounding areas. I highly recommend this cabin

    The mountains were calling

My husband and I stayed at John’s cabin for a week in October. Wandering around in the backyard (a national forest) fulfilled my need for some mountain time. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the cabin. The furnishings were quality, including all of the kitchen utensils. It was an honor to have such a nice cabin shared with us. The loft bed was very very comfortable, but I have a hint for you: it’s easier to go down the spiral staircase backwards— also, don’t drink too much before bedtime. I’ve always wanted a cabin in the North Carolina mountains, but now that I have found Creekstone cabin I will probably just keep renting.
