Whispering Willows is a one-of-a-kind, a PRIVATE mini-resort, vacation rental located in the valley between Mt. Princeton and Mt. Antero. The views are spectacular! Ideally situated on Chalk Creek, this lodging features a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom sprawling house with a well-equipped galley kitchen, a large living room, and an oversized rec room with a regulation-sized pool table. Dine inside at one of the two dining tables, or move everyone outside to the deck, or even creekside to the gazebo. For those who love to cook outside, a gas grill is available. The Mt. Princeton Grocery Store is within walking distance and has a limited supply of groceries. If you don't wish to cook, the Mary Murphy Steak House is also within walking distance and serves 3 spectacular meals a day. There are many spa options available.
Guests love the amenities inside the house, but the outside of this property is what makes it so unique. Enjoy swimming year-round in the full-size geothermal swimming pool, which is surrounded by a pool deck and zero gravity deck chairs. The swimming pool is maintained at a warm temperature that is not too hot for swimming. A relaxing place to soak up the sun while relaxing in a private and peaceful environment. The natural rock soaking pool, also heated geothermally and creekside, will bring peace and balance to your life as you unhook and unwind. Temperatures in the soaking pool can be adjusted to the guests' desired preference.
As an added bonus, this private property has two freshwater ponds with Rainbow Trout (no fishing allowed from the pond), and large willow trees, which lend their name to the property. With approximately 300 feet of creekside frontage, guests can fish from the banks of Chalk Creek, however, Wrights Lake and Chalk Lake are both local favorites, and just up the road from the property. Our well-manicured lawn is somewhat of a rarity in the high Rockies.
We do provide regular pool maintenance, however, there is no lifeguard on duty. While children are welcome, guests assume all liability for themselves and those in their party. A rental agreement and waiver-release agreement are required when making a reservation. Guests are encouraged to bring their own water toys, beach towels, and any other accessories they wish to use in the pool as we do to provide those items.
Don't miss your chance to relax and recharge at a one-of-a-king, geothermal property, located in the valley between two world-famous 14, 0000-foot mountains in Colorado, USA. Contact the property manager today and we will make the process easy and seamless for you.
Please be advised that VRBO's presentation of the nightly rate is not always accurate. The "Avg Rate" takes into consideration that this property has a high season rate and a low season rate and averages out over a period of 364-365 nights a year. It also takes into consideration that there is a base rate as well as additional guest fees over the base rate.
Our base rate is dependent upon 1-2 guests. Each additional guest is charged $30.00 per person/per night. In the quote from VRBO, they call it an "Additional Guest Fee", whereas the host includes it in the rent. The host has no control over how VRBO presents these or any other fees such as the pool fee.
All guests must sign a rental agreement waiver before reservation can be confirmed and access information will be provided.
Our trip was perfect 💜
This house and property was AMAZING. The pool was huge and warm, perfect to wake up and warm up. We visited Bishop's castle and Royal Gorge while here. Total privacy in backyard :) The whole backside of the house has windows you can open and hear the creek. Very quiet and peaceful. We came in June and the weather was perfect, lows in the 40's-50's and highs in the 70's-80's. The house does not have ac, but when you open all the windows and use fans, the house was comfortable in June. The creek is cold and has small waterfalls. The soaking pool has hot and cold water running constantly, stir it to get the perfect temperature. We stayed at 3 private houses during this trip, and this house was our grand finale, and it was the best by far. All expectations exceeded!!! Highly recommend!!!
We had a wonderful time at Whispering Willows. The pool is awesome!
We were 5 ER nurses who needed a well deserved break from the chaos of thE ER and all of the Covid stress. The moment you walk in the door everything melts away! You are transported back in time with all the rich history of the house! We settled in nicely at the pool with cocktails! The views and sounds were refreshing! This was my most magical vacation ever! I will book this place multiple times a year now! Thanks for giving me such a beautiful retreat! We are grateful’
This was our second year here with our grandchildren during their spring break. Still a great house and swimming pool for our family. We would like to come back again next year.
We went to get away from the normal routine and to recharge. It was a great place to stay and unwind. Thank you.
A wonderful property! It’s our second year coming and we would highly recommend it!
Very easy to use. Received all information needed for our trip.
We booked this home with 2 other couples for a getaway. Easy check in process. We arrived to a very clean older home. There are so many trinkets and antiques in this home and not a spiderweb on them! Very well kept. Our arrival day was extremely windy and within 20 minutes of us checking in, we lost power due to trees on the power lines (no fault of owner) . They had some emergency lights for us, bonus! The wind caused leaves to plug the pool and pool was way too cold the first night but the owner was prompt in getting us up and running for the rest of our stay. Pool stayed about 101 or 102! Tap water doesn't really get cold, plan on bringing drinking water to keep in fridge. Beautiful property. Well stocked. Thanks for letting us stay in your home!
House is nice, location is great. I rented for the inground pool. Description says heated pool. What they dont tell you is, the pool will always be extremely hot. It was miserable. Was told it was a geo thermal pool and it can go from 100 degrees to 150. I waaaay overpaid...can use the pool at optimal times. Doesnt say that in your description. Very dissapointed....but hey, you got my money....
The home is as advertised, well kept and with spacious shared spaces. Our favorite part was the outdoors! The pool, ponds, grounds and deck were lovely. A great family getaway location!
The house and property exceeded my expectations. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with cooking equipment and utensils. Only downside was that there was a wedding reception at the event center next door on one night of our stay. The music was so loud that the windows were rattling and we could hear every word of every song, even with the windows closed, until 11 pm.
Views were great.
We made so many wonderful memories and will make it an annual tradition. Property owners were phenomenal hosts. Everything was perfect and clean. Thank you!!!!
Great location for hot springs, hiking yet close enough to town. The outdoor space was magical. Helpful tidbits for planning purposes; bring your own pool towels, and kitchen only had salt and pepper.
What a lovely place for all to enjoy. I didn’t even want to leave the property! Thank y’all for the perfect Colorado vacation. I’m booking again right now.
Amazing river side property with natural hot springs feed pool. Spacious house, lots of kitchen supplies, and very quiet (except for the roaring river!). I would only say not good for toddlers and small kids - lots of amazing collections and breakablesx I would have been nervous with my kids there.
Excellent property! The pictures are accurate and this place is beautiful. Its one of the cleanest properties we've stayed at, especially for a older cabin/house. The hot spring pool is private and ranged between 98 - 102 degrees and was amazing no matter what the weather is. Our family can't wait to visit again!
We had a wonderful stay at this property! The house was cozy and clean, and we absolutely loved the pool and trout ponds. This property has so much to offer, we will definitely be back again.
Fantastic property. The photos on the listing do not do it justice. Pool and hot tub were a big hit with everyone.
We had a very nice stay at this house. The pool was a full size, heated pool. We swam several times a day even though the weather outside was cool - it snowed and was below freezing in the morning two days. But, it was warm and pleasant in the pool. The area is beautiful and not far from St. Elmo Ghost Town. We also enjoyed the herd of deer and rabbits in the yard while we had our morning coffee.
This is quite a beautiful and unique house in a great setting. The descriptions and pictures are accurate and our spring break with the grand daughters could not have been better. I have a feeling that we will be back again.
Super relaxing and nice
We had a very good experience
The property was very clean with lots of room to spread out. We loved the rustic deco very interesting. The billiards table was fun as we love to play pool. The outside pool was amazing and no sulpher smell as with most hot springs. Beautiful property with nice deck and creek!!. Need window covering in 2nd bathroom.
We had a wonderful time! Definitely coming back! Already referred a friend who is booking a stay!
We had a wonderful time at this property. The property was well kept and very clean. It has all the amenities needed for a great trip. We enjoyed the area very much . The owner is super nice and we will be back. Its away from all the non-sense of big cities but still close enough to go see things. Theres a creek running through the back that adds a very peaceful back-noise when outdoors. The hotspring is worth every penny. Plenty of things to do in the area and there is even small store down the street in case you need anything. This place is truly a gem and we will be back sooner than later! We enjoyed ourselves very much and the outdoor area was beautiful when it snowed.
The house is surrounded by magnificent beauty. Fantastic hikes, fishing, sightseeing, night skies, swimming/ soaking and more! A great time was had by everyone in our party, from young to old.
We rented this property specifically for the private pool, and it was great. It's a large pool with a shallow end my 5 yo could stand in and a deep end, big enough to swim little laps. The pool temp was in the 95-98 range, great for kids not getting cold but could be too hot for some. The house had nice common areas with good cooking gear in the kitchen. There were tons of very eclectic decorations, some of which I could have done without (eg dead animals in the walls.). The bedrooms were small but serviceable. Despite a pretty exorbitant per person charge, the owners were very stingy with any extras. Make sure you bring everything you need yourselves, including toilet paper, garbage bags, towels, shampoo, soap, salt and pepper etc. Very little was provided. Overall we enjoyed our stay but with a little extra effort it could have been excellent.
My family of 5 had wonderful stay. Jeff and Joe were very responsive and know the area well and gave us some good recommendations to eat. The home is huge and with great amenities. The natural hot spring, huge pool hot spring, and even the creek in the back yard were amazing. The pictures don’t do the views on the home justice, great views in the front and back yard. It’s close to BV, Salida and lots of trails. And after a day of rafting or hiking it was great to come back to place that you could relax but still had fun things to do for the kids.
Its hard to image a better location or set up. The house is huge and comfortable. The hot pool is amazing. He hope to go back someday.
