Beach fires, autumn leaves and glowing sunsets are yours in this very unique and private log home for gatherings of family and friends. Pet friendly. This is one-of-a-kind!
Washer and dryer are provided but should not be overloaded. Please leave quilts and comforters for the owner to wash.
We had a wonderful stay in Auburn. The Owasco Lake is beautiful and our location was just about a 20-30 minute to everything!! We will definitely be back.
Very easy, glad that was pet friendly during these close family times, great space to spread out full basement level and main entertainment level, make sure you bring everything to lake as you don’t want to walk uphill/down again each time you need something, overall very good
Three generations stayed in this house for a long weekend with hiking and wineries. The house is beautiful, clean, and well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, with some available spices, condiments, and plenty of utensils. The beds were all comfortable. The linens were excellent, thick towels and soft sheets. It was a little cooler than expected on our weekend stay so we used the baseboard heat a few nights without issue. We also felt the house was exceptionally clean. My children enjoyed playing with the toys and wide open space in the basement. We thought it was really great that the house had so many toys for kids and adults (my father enjoyed the pool table!). We cooked dinner one night on the nice gas grill out on the porch. The porch was beautiful as well. We really appreciated the piece of lattice that we could hang across the stairs so that we didn't have to worry about the kids getting off the porch, genius! The outdoors space was great too, a side yard and fire pit, plenty of parking, and a beautiful lakefront area. A surprise bonus was the closet off the master bathroom which was more than large enough for our son in his pack and play. He's used to sleeping in his own room now so we were nervous about having him sleep in our room. When we saw the large, clean master closet thought it was perfect for a bonus space for the baby. There was a pack and play and baby seat at the house already, though we used our own since we brought them. We would stay here again and also recommend this house to friends or family! A great property.
We wish we could have spent more time at the lake and on the property. We had graduation events to attend. The lack of decent wi go was frustrating because 3 of the family were still working and unable to connect. Owner Sharon was so kind and accommodating it could not have been better
the owner was very friendly and helpful. Walking into the house, it was so beautiful and clean. The pool table was nice to have and we had more than enough room to move around and not be on top of each other. The house is stocked with things I did not expect. Cleaning supplies. Hand soap. Towels. The house is about 100 feet from the lake and the views are so beautiful!!! I would definitely stay here again.
A little cold, but we enjoyed it
My friends and I had an unbelievable time. We had perfect weather to go along with a perfect relaxing stay. It was exactly the get away we needed and hope for. Sharon is a hip, hip, hip lady and her property was fantastic. Our dogs loved the space and walking on the shore line. Sitting by the lake with a fire was special. Could have stayed longer and hope to be back.
We had stayed at this property twice before. Had not been there in 10 years. The furnishings were still the same from 11 years ago. We got OLDER though, and if you have back problems or any arthritis, etc. The beds and living room sofa are horrible. We love the owner Sharon and she is wonderful to help you out and work with. Just wish the mattresses and sofa were more comfortable. Other then that, a wonderful vacation.
The House: Sharron did a wonderful job providing a beautiful, clean, well stocked home to stay at. The grounds around the house were well cared for, outdoor chairs etc were immaculate and clean from bugs and the gas grill had plenty of propane and worked great. Basically, the house was everything we had hoped for. The Lake front: This is where we had our issues. On the face of it the lakefront is large and wonderful. I did have a good time kayaking and having my lab swim around. There were 3 kayaks and 2 paddleboards available and a shed of equipment/paddles/life jackets. All that was great. When we rented this place I knew the lakefront was a shared space with the owners house near the shore. You have to walk within10 yards of their front deck to get to the shore. Based on reviews I wasn't expecting much competition with the lake though. It seemed based on reviews Sharron minded her own business and that was true - after check in I never saw her again until checkout. However, what I didn't expect was that Sharron would host 2 guests of her own at the main home with 2 very barky and fairly large Collies. Those two guests appeared to have 2-4 guests of their own for the next 5 of 6 days. I would say these people were friendly and didn't bother us directly. However, we found ourselves constantly looking to see if the lake front was occupied. As we wouldn't be able to have our dog with us at the lakefront if they were there because their dogs would be nonstop barking. Also, there was only one section with umbrellas which - if the weather would have been warmer - would have been an issue as we vied for who got umbrellas. The guests and their friends would frequently hang out on the front deck which is fine but it just felt odd to always walk past someone else's party/bbq and always have a sense of someone passively watching you. On a couple occasions when I was at the water more friends came by with a pontoon boat waving to the people directly behind me, which just made me feel like an imposter on my own vacation. Like I was on someone else's. My wife rarely came down due to the lack of privacy but one of the times she came down one of the collies escaped the house and made her feel frightened - that was the end of her being at the lakefront. So to conclude: Sharron provided a wonderful home - but I didn't expect Sharron to have guests. No reviews mentioned guests. Had I known there would be guests while we were there we wouldn't have rented.
Beautiful lakeside property for a late summer vacation. Nice swimming, paddling and walks in the adjacent nature preserve. Well equipped kitchen for feeding a big group. Dog-friendly.
Everything was great. Home, accommodations, supplies, lake toys, etc. enjoyed by all.
The house is a lovely space with high airy ceilings, wrap around porch with views of the beach/lake and a side that provides shaded option for mid to late afternoon comfort. Well stocked with books/games/toys for all ages and Sharon was most helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. Internet connection can be limiting.
Our group, a mix of six adults and one infant, had a great time at Sharon's house for the week. She was incredibly helpful and responsive with all of our questions, and check in and check out were very simple. She helped us navigate renting a pontoon boat, giving advice on places to rent and we were able to dock right at the house. She even helped to keep our belongings safe from the wind when we were out on the boat, tethering them down so they didn't fly away. We felt safe and the place was clean, which is important nowadays! Location is awesome too, the town of Auburn had some cute restaurants and bars, and people were very respectful of the COVID situation in the local community. If you have anyone in your group who has difficulty walking, just a note that to get down to the lake, the hill is relatively steep and you need to be very careful on the way up and down. None of us had any issues but do want to mention it for those in that situation. Also, the downstairs room with the sleeper sofas would be fine for kids, but we were glad we didn't have another adult couple with us to sleep down there. It has a basement feel and the trash needs to be stored down there which can build up over a few days. Overall we loved our stay and hope to visit Owasco Lake again in the future! Thanks Sharon!
Our group of 8 had a wonderful week! Loved Owasco Lake and use of Sharon’s kayaks and paddle boards. The home was clean and had a nice amount of supplies to use throughout the week. If bringing a boat, would recommend launching before bringing to the house, as it’s a long narrow road down. Super quiet end of street...great for kids! Great fishing too!
My family throughly enjoyed our stay on Lake Owasco The cabin was very clean and quiet, with nice fresh linens and everything you need. We loved spending the day kayaking and a lake side fire pit at night. Our Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog was in heaven swimming all day too, and it was such a treat to be able to have her with us. Great place!
We generally enjoyed ourselves. Sharon was easy to work with and really helpful as we inquired about any restrictions or things we should know in regards to COVID-19 since we originally booked long before that was a consideration. We traveled with 2 dogs, an infant, a young child, and 6 adults and the house was perfect - it gave us enough space and had something for everyone. Sharon was around and available when we had a question - but also respectful of our space. The downsides are that the hill down to the lake is a bit treacherous and the TV's sound quality isn't great. It was mid-July, but the window A/C units were struggling to keep up and they were loud enough that we couldn't hear each other across the room. All in all, we would consider returning!
beautiful property on lake, plenty of room ,had a great 4th with the family
Beautiful house, very clean, modern and spacious. Reminded me of a ski loge. The owner lives next door and you’re sharing the waterfront. Not a big deal for us but some might find that uncomfortable. Spent the first night killing a lot of bugs In one of the rooms before we slept. Not sure what could be done about that though, there’s a lot of woods around. Very scenic lake. The lake is fairly clear but does churns up a lot of underwater weeds that build up on the shore. The owner raked it away every morning though and the weeds were a good 50 ft or more out so it doesn’t effect swimming. Overall, it was a great long weekend. Hope to go agian next year.
My family of 5 and our dog loved our stay at Sharon's home. The view and surroundings made for a beautiful and peaceful week. Our children loved the space on the lower level to play and hang out, along with the waterfront and use of paddle boards and kayaks. The home is well cared for and stocked with most items you would need while away. Looking forward to our stay next year. In regards, to the location, Owasco is a beautiful lake and close to many day options of town and hiking.
Wonderful house and location.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful upstate house in Auburn. We enjoyed the kayaks and the corn hole Game. Just sitting down by the lake was relaxing and we also enjoyed making s’mores over the fire pit. The owner Helen lives right next store and was readily available with any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this vacation home.
Great place for a quiet lakeside getaway in the Fingerlakes w/ all the amenities you want to have fun in the water. Comfortably housed the 6 of us (+ a dog) with room to spare!
home was just lovely, plenty of towels, we had everything that we needed, the bed that I used in the upstairs bedroom was very comfortable, we really enjoyed a beautiful cat that came to visit us every day
We stayed at the Claire Vue for a girls weekend and had a great time. About a 20 minute drive to Skaneatles and Wegmans (in two different little towns). The house was great! Clean and within eye shot of the lake. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the lake and capitalized on a well stocked kitchen and grill enjoying our evenings in relaxing and catching up. We definitely would stay here again!
Lovely property. No complaints
Very nice home in a good location for a quiet vacation. Be careful if you are traveling with a larger boat. The driveway is not friendly for large pull behinds.
Sharon was a great hostess. We loved the property and the use of the water equipment - kayaks, paddle boards and row boat.
This property has thought of everything needed & provides it. A lovely property and location.
Our family had a great week! The house was perfect for us. We really enjoyed our time at the lake and the use of all the water equipment! We had everything we needed, thanks Sharon!
Lake house was roomy and we’ll equipped. Lots to do for families of all ages!
Through no fault of the owner, the quality of the Lake Owasco water was disappointing. It’s apparent that the lake is suffering the ill effects of agricultural run off.
Wonderful place for family vacation. Well appointed cottage, comfortable, spotless with a very nice waterfront with activities for every age. Hostess was very helpful and made our entire family feel right at home. Thank you for sharing your amazing location with us.
If we come up to the area we will definitely coming back to this Lovely & extremely clean home, A+ place!!!! It has all the cleanliness of a 5-star hotel (that actually cleans their rooms, lol!) and all the amenities of a B&B -- shampoo, conditioner, soap, bath towels, extra bed linens, extra blankets, and kitchen supplies. Cleanest house we have been to so far (rented 7-8 homes). Now about the house's location -- great with few homes on a 0.6 mile road with a nature preserve and across the street from the lake. Even though you are on the opposite side of the lake you have a great view. The home sits on a wooded lot with an open area that is great for dogs or playing outside games. Nice touch of chairs around a pit fire and you can do a fire near the lake too!! The wrap around deck is perfect for dogs and kids -- gate. It was cold during our stay so we didn't have the chance to use the beautiful lake. Sharon is very nice! You will not regret renting this house.
The house was nicely decorated and very well equipped and clean. Had everything we needed! Good location close to town of Auburn and Skaneateles with some really nice restaurants. Breweries, distilleries and wineries all close by driving through beautiful countryside. We met some friends there for the weekend but would be great for families has lots of room. Did not have the opportunity to meet our host Sharon but was very easy to communicate with her through email responded very quickly. Would definitely recommend. :)
We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our stay. The home was well-appointed, clean and had so many extras - right down to a bowlful of candy bars and healthy snacks. Sharon, the hostess, was very welcoming without being in the slight bit intrusive. Recommend this property very highly!
Three sisters and their spouses spent a few days at this home. It was quite nice, spacious and comfortable.
We had a wonderful stay! The house had everything anyone would ever need to be comfortable. The house and location was beautiful. Would have liked to stay longer. The location is very convenient to many state parks and attractions in the area. Wished we had gotten a chance to meet Sharon, the owner, but she was wonderful to deal with as far as reservations and anything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here!
Great place for family get together and bonding time. Sharon does a great job ensuring that you are comfortable.
We stayed for four nights. Sharon (owner) was wonderful to work with! The place has everything you need and more. It was great to stay with my mom and our grown children and provided enough space for everyone to have group conversations and also escape to more quiet corners (balconies, game room, lake, etc.). Highly recommeded, in fact our family wants to go back for 2 weeks next time.
Sharon’s property is perfectly situated at the end of the (dead end) road and directly across from the water. Sharon welcomed us to the property and invited us to make use of her boats and water toys! She was quick to respond to any questions we had. We had our dogs with us so it was important for us to have a place where they were welcome. The house had all the accommodations we could want or need.and then some! We definitely hope to come back
Wonderful property tucked away off the beaten path, but still easy to get to the surrounding areas, lakes, and wineries. Very quiet lakeside lane. Owner Sharon is wonderful... very responsive...keeps house stocked with many little necessities, a well stocked kitchen, games, videos, books...and everything you need for fun or lazy days on the lake. Chairs, fire pits, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Home is truly lake front, steps away from water. We had 5-6 people throughout our week's stay, and we were very comfortable. Thank you Sharon for a wonderful week!
There is so much to do without leaving the property! Plenty of games for those rainy days and plenty of kayaking, boating, paddle boarding, and fishing for the nicer days.
Overall, our stay was great! The property is beautiful, it's about 100 yards from the lake, there are many things to do in the log home, and there are many activities close by with lakes and towns such as Auburn. The owners live within view and about 50 yards away which may be uncomfortable for some, but they respect your privacy and are very polite and accommodating. The ping pong table may need to be updated and a few new pool sticks would be nice. The fireplace didn't work at the time...but it's June. And the oven may take a little longer to bake larger items compared to newer models. This is a great place to stay for anyone may it be a couple or an event. Enjoy!
Sharon let us know we could arrive early and we instantly jumped at the chance. The house was perfect in every way. Sharon met us and let us know if we needed anything to just ask. We lived at the water and on the kayaks. We enjoyed wonderful family fires at the beach while absorbing every beautiful star in the sky. It was a wonderful Fathers Day weekend with the family. Absolutely awesome! Thank you Sharon
My family and I loved our stay. Our host provides everything and more. When we were running low on propane for the grill a new tank was ready to go, along with fresh spring water. Loved all the amenities free to use. Beautiful cabin and beautiful view of the lake and forest. There was a happy place for all of our guests young and old, from the wrap around porch with swing to the fire pit and games room. The master bathroom was gorgeous and everything was clean. Mostly anything you can think of was provided. Just bring food and enjoy the quiet, private property. Our family loved it. Hopefully it becomes an annual getaway. Thank you Sharon
We really enjoyed our stay and having use of the kayaks, boat and fishing rods were greatly appreciated. A lovely part of the world and a great retreat.
This property is a 1 minute walk from the water. It is located across the street from the water. Sharon has thought of everything! You virtually need to bring nothing with you. My family enjoyed the water activities. There is 2 fire pits; one near the house and another down by the water. The teenagers enjoyed hanging out in the basement. I recommend this house for a great getaway! The house is located near mini-golf, ice cream stands, marina, & state park. Book you won't regret it.
House was amazing. Had everything that we needed and more. When I stay in VRBO's I usually email the owner with any small issues or inconveniences that I would not put in a review- not this time-it was perfect, Sharon was great by being there when we arrived, answered emails right away and had it set up for us when we walked in. House is better than photos. Super clean everywhere. Pool table was great fun and basement was set up so kids had a great hang out. We hosted many people for dinner and there was nothing that Sharon did not have. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Lake is crystal clear (but was cold in early May). Would love to come back in the summer to use all the watercraft's and toys provided. Wish we would have stayed longer.
We rented the cabin for a few nights in mid April for my birthday. A few friends joined us and we had a fabulous stay. We enjoyed the lake views and sunshine on the front porch. We enjoyed a few rounds of pool and played games for hours! We have talked about making this an annual event because we had such a wonderful time. Sharon stopped over upon arrival to ensure we had everything we needed. There wasn’t a single thing she hadn’t thought of. I highly recommend it! We will definitely be back.
We loved this house on the lake so much. We walked in to be pleasantly surprised with some snacks and a super clean home. This house had so many amenities and was fully stocked with anything you may need. The owner was very quick to respond and a lovely person. We would love to return in the future.
We had 7 people in our party and the house was a perfect size. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, 2 bathrooms were great. Nicely decorated. Beautiful view of lake and leaves. Hope to come back next year !
This is the 3rd time I have rented this lakeside home for a girls weekend away. The accommodations as well as location are perfect. We look forward to renting again in the future. Thanks for the memories.
Rented this house for a low-key bachelorette party with seven girls. The house and location were perfect! We loved having access to the kayaks and paddle boards, and the bonfire area was awesome. The house itself was great for a big group. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax. Would definitely rent this place again!
Very clean. Well stocked. Local information provided. Had absolutely everything we could possibly need to make our girls get away truly relaxing. The lakefront and water toys were an added bonus. Sharon, our hostess, was kind, welcoming and full of information with local sightseeing adventures we could do( and we did) . Loved our vacation. Thanks Sharon!
The place we stayed was called Claire Vue on Owasko Lake. I'm not sure why it is referred to here as Ashland. We found the cottage to be very comfortable and the proximity to hiking trials at Fillmore Glen State Park and shopping at Auburn NY to be quite convenient. We enjoyed having access to waterfront activities very near the cottage.
We could not have asked for a more perfect vacation. The house was perfect and the location was beautiful. Sharon was a pleasure to deal with. We plan on returning for sure.
We stayed at this beautiful place between 06/29/2017 -06/30/2017 and just loved the place for being private, your own private lake in front of you. the cottage is very well kept and perfect for 2-3 families. we and our kids had great time and it was perfect long weekend stay. we will love to come back./
Sharron was available and very helpful for our stay. The house is truly a gem in the heart of the fingerlakes. Even though we are local, our group was all so very impressed with the views and the experience this home provided. We will definitely be booking again next year!!!
House/cabin was in Perfect condition with everything & more you could want! So many extra amenities even a dish full of treats! Our family throughly enjoyed our time there inside & out! Plenty of room for two little girls & 6 year old boy to play....plus two pugs! We hope to continue the family get away tradition here again next year! Thank you, Sharon for a lovely & memorial stay!
Sharon is very accommodating. The house is very well equipped. Will go back again.
We rented Sharon's home for two nights as a place for our family to stay during the Ithaca College graduation weekend. It worked out beautifully. The main floor of the house has an open concept, making it a wonderful great room for people to gather. Everything was neat and clean. There is easy access to the lake, though we did not have much time to enjoy that facet of the house. Sharon was a pleasure to deal with throughout the process and kindly accommodated our early arrival. Thanks Sharon!
The home is spacious and clean. Easy access to restaurants and sightseeing. Great Lake for water sports and family activities. A real gem.
Property is well kept and perfect for a small gathering. We arranged our Mothers Day celebration there and had a great time.
Beautiful home , would stay here again !
Highly recommend. Great for a weekend getaway with friends!
The house was exactly as advertised and offered more than enough to do. My friends and I had a fantastic time and would absolutely go back.
A good getaway. Nice house.
My family and I had a great experience here (no thanks to the weather!). We were in need of a getaway, and found it here. Sharon is very hospitable, just like the house we stayed in. TONS of provided activities, which helped us get through 4 days of straight rain and colder fall weather as it arrived. On the 2 nice days we had while there, we made a fire, walked to the water on the large water front area, and hiked a bit in the woods. We also hung out on the uncovered portion of the wrap around porch as the sun set over the lake. When it was not as nice out, we for the most part hung out by the beautiful fireplace and even braved it on the covered portion of the porch for some games outside. The greedy side of me wants to keep this place a secret so I won't have issues booking next time, but I can't keep others from enjoying. Highly recommended for those who enjoy nature and family time!
Great house and great location!
Great to hang out at the beach and use all of the watercraft (kayaks, paddle boards, flotations, rowboat, sailboat). The children had a great time whether on the beach and in the water, or at the house with the games and game room. A relaxing vacation.
We had a great relaxing week at the lake. Sharon has everything you need in the house and at the lake. Our girls loved using the kayaks, pattleboards and row boat. The fishing was good even off the dock. The house is very dog friendly even with a gate on the giant porch.
This property is so comfortable, relaxing, and top notch in it's amenities. It was so nice to walk into such a clean and nicely done lake house cabin. We were concerned about the high temperatures our week (90's) but were so relieved to see air conditioners in 2 of the bedrooms and one in the great room area, as well as ceiling fans. The property has so many nice touches that you discover as the days go by. The hills in front of the property down to the water were a little steep but as the week went on, became easier to climb and got us in better shape, even for my 75 year old mom and 12 year old small dog. Beside the kayaks, paddle boards, row boat, etc... available to enjoy, we rented a pontoon boat from South Shore Marina that we docked at the property, This gave us full use of the lake. Sharon, the owner, is nearby, readily available but not intrusive. Definitely recommend this property!
A group of friends and I spent a week at this beautiful and spacious home. Sharon is a wonderful hostess, providing all necessary information and welcoming us for our stay. The home is very clean, well equipped and we had everything we needed for a fun-filled week. The kayaks and paddle boards were a real plus for us. I would highly recommend staying here.
Nice week on the lake . Owner was very friendly . House was clean and lovely . Missing internet access is only negative noted . Would recommend to all . Skaneateles close by . Walk to lake was not far down the hill.
Claire Vue offers something for all age groups and interests. Sharon graciously allowed me to organize a small celebration on the property during the off season. She was extremely accommodating and provided direction through every step of the planning process. Sharon, thank you for helping us create a fond memory that we will cherish the rest of our lives!
My family of 6 adults and 2 young children have just returned from a wonderful weeks vacation at Claire Vue. There are many positives to talk about and a couple of minor detractors that prospective renters might need to be aware of before booking. The owner - Sharon is a lovely accommodating lady that lives in the lakeside cottage situated between Clarie Vue and the lake. Although a reasonably close neighbour she leaves you well alone and is there only if you need her. The building - comfortably sleeps 6 adults in the 3 bedrooms, 2 have in-window air conditioners. A beautiful building. A large family eating/relaxing area. Immaculately clean. Has a fantastic wrap-around deck with several seating and eating areas. A gas BBQ we used everyday. Kids toys. High chair. Games. A good selection of kitchen utensils. The basement has a pool table and a couple of couches (a damp odour prevented our prolonged use of this area but not a huge problem as we didn't need to be in there). Location: Situated on a very quiet private lane and about 70 yards back from lake and behind the lakefront cottages. Up a bit of a small steep hill with plenty of parking. Initially we we quite disappointed as we expected to be right on the lake. You can see glimpses of the lake through the trees. Bugs: Coming from Canada we expected many but were pleasantly surprised there were next to none. This was a big plus. The lake: Walking access down the hill and beside the owners cottage. A pebble beach with clear water leading into a weedy lake. Lots of water toys for our use including a row boat and kayaks. Chairs, tables and umbrellas. A dock. Probably the best place for young ones to swim is at the 2 sandy beaches in the lovely Emerson Park in Auburn - well worth a visit. Shops and restaurants: best place to stock up on groceries at the great Wegmans Store in Auburn. A few eating spots there if you need a break from home cooking. A 70's style burger/ice cream joint called Tom Thumbs is close by.
Every year, seven of my college roommates meet for a few days at a variety of places we have found on the Finger Lakes. We had never rented on Owasco, so I focused on finding something suitable on that lake. After viewing the pictures on the VRBO website, I was certain that this would be a great place to rent. That is an understatement. This is a beautiful log home that is beautifully decorated (and clean) and in a wonderful setting . The owner quickly responded to any questions I had before our arrival. Thanks Sharon...I am sure we will be back.
We had a wonderful time and stayed in a wonderful house.
Great Cornell graduation weekend easy commute (about 45 minutes) with no traffic beautiful setting on the lake. great accommodations. Sharon was super nice and everything was as good or better than it looked on the web site. water was chilly but that didn't stop us from enjoying the row boat, kayaks, and paddle boards. thanks sharon
We really enjoyed our stay at Claire Vue! It is a perfect spot and Sharon was very warm and accommodating. Although she is onsite and available she was never intrusive, really just perfect. We were able to bring our dogs and this was so important to us and very much appreciated. The bedrooms are huge, and the living room is expansive with plenty of seating. Sharon also provided us with a gate for the wrap around deck so that the pups could be safe and comfortable enjoying the fresh air and beautiful view. Highly recommended!
We could not have asked for a more wonderful home to enjoy a family vacation and celebration for our youngest sons wedding at a venue nearby. The beautiful spacious living room that opened to a deck that overlooked the lake was perfect and welcoming. The home is well maintained and the owner who lives close by is a delight to work with. We cannot wait to go back!
Girlfriends and I stayed at Claire Vue for a weekend. Friday evening was wonderful weather and we were able to get gorgeous photos of the sunset. Unfortunately, the rest of the weekend was constant rain but the house has all you need to relax (beautiful views and a lot of seating and space) and keep occupied (games and movies) indoors. The large porch has a covered portion so several of us were able to still listen to the soothing sound of the small creek bed and falling rain while enjoying coffee outside.
My family and I had a wonderful time staying at the lake house. We enjoyed walking down to the lake front and using the boats and kayaks. The house was spacious and comfortable for 5 adults and 3 kids. Would highly recommend for an enjoyable vacation.
We stayed at this lake house for a few days while attending my nephew's graduation in Syracuse. The house and lication are superb! The house was, beautiful, incredibly clean, and had a wonderful wrap around porch. The owner was very helpful. I highly recommend this rental!
Lovely immaculate home. Better than pictures show. The master BR has beautiful wide plank pine floors and is large and cozy at the same time. We were there Thanksgiving week and were very busy with family in the area. This did not allow me enough time at the house which was so peaceful and quiet when we were there. (I did cook Thanksgiving for four and it was our best day there, enjoying dinner, the fire, scrabble, a beautiful sunset on the lake and a movie on the DVD player.) The kitchen is adequate and wish we could have used the beautiful porches, though we did manage to grill. Supplies provided by the owner were helpful and a nice touch. Beds and bedding were fresh and clean with plenty of good quality towels. All in all we had a great week and the house more than met our needs and expectations. I would recommend this rental to a friend or relative without hestation.
We have been to this particular home before. We went two years in a row then took two years to go elsewhere and came back as we just love this location, the owner is so easy going and best of all, for us, we can take our dogs with us and they deserve a vacation also being what we do for a living. !!! Yes the house if further from the lake then it appears in the pictures, but it is one of only a few spots where the beach area is flat and you don't have to climb down a cliff to reach the beach. The home is gorgeous inside and out, huge basement for kids or dogs to play and we had alot of rain this past vacation to deal with, so we used it quite a bit to play with our dogs. Lots to go and see in the area !!! Being this was our third time back, we were disappointed that the gas fireplace was NOT working and this wasn't disclosed at the time of booking, this is one of our favorite things about the home. Also we got shorted a day from our week as the owner had crossed up her booking dates, but she did give us a substantial discount for the unfortunate mistake. WE LOVE IT HERE and there are not too many places that will allow four dogs in this country at vacation homes, sure our dogs are show dogs and therapy dogs, well behaved, but here and a few other places around the country is the only place we have found that will allow us the luxuary of bringing them along. In response to some of the other comments left before mine, we go up in the early fall, so we are not exposed to the hot sun of the summertime. However I did see window ac units in the closets, perhaps a look around would bode well if you stay in the summertime. We prefer the quiet of the fall, the leaves changing color and the crackling fireplace at night, or sitting on the beach at night with a roaring fire under the stars. !!
House is well equipped with ample space and a large basement for recreation and storage. The major drawback is the afternoon sun on the deck which heats up living and takes a while to cool down. An awning or extra fan would be nice. Nice owner and neighbors. The lake is clean and refreshing and easy to get in and out. However, the walk to the lake is steep so be warned if you have elderly parents with you. The owner was kind enough to let us drive a vehicle there. Nice restaurants in the area and plenty of activities from hiking, biking, wine tasting and music.
This truly is a beautiful log home with all the comforts of home (with the exception of AC, but it was fine)! There are three good size bedrooms with two nice size bathrooms, and a full basement! It was nice to have all the room in the basement for the kids to hang out and play, and it was especially nice and cool. The master bath shower was a little tight but overall the log home was very clean with lots of room for adults and kids. It is well maintained and very clean! The lake access was a little longer a walk than pictured, but worth the walk as the lake front is a large flat spot with plenty of room to spread out! While you share the lake access with the owner you still feel like you have plenty of privacy and are very comfortable. The owner was especially nice and the neighbors were very friendly and helpful!! The kayaks provided were great to be able to cruise around on the lake. We had our nephew come out with his boat to go tubing and the lake was refreshing and clean! The dock was a little short and didn’t feel secure enough to tie the boat overnight, but the kids had a grand time jumping off of it! I would most definitely recommend this property to others as we'd love to go back again! We live in NC but have lots of family and friends from the Syracuse area. It was a wonderful place to have family and friends come out for the day to go swimming and boating while catching up and visiting! We live in NC but our hearts will always be in NY… Owasco Lake and all of the Finger Lakes are such a gem!!
