Sea's Calling - Soundside Home in Kinnakeet Shores - Walk to Beach and Pool

Avon, North Carolina

Great house located in the village of Avon, along the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. Avon is just south of one of the longest stretches of unspoiled National Seashore on the Outer Banks. Recently a new hot tub and raised spa deck joined multiple updates and improvements both inside and out. Our comfortable, clean home in family friendly Kinnakeet Shores is ready for your beach getaway!

Sea's Calling is just a quick, easy walk to the beach, and close to community amenities, shopping, and dining. We're just a short drive from the "Canadian Hole," an epic kite boarding and windsurfing spot. The famous Cape Hatteras lighthouse is minutes away. Renting from Saturday to Saturday weekly during June, July and August, and with a four night minimum during other months. Sea's Calling features dual zone AC and heat for your comfort. With beds for eight, three decks, lots of outdoor seating and two picnic tables for outdoor dining, this house is perfect for a relaxing family vacation.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the upper deck overlooking a view of Kinnakeet Shores and Hatteras Island. Spend your day at the large private community pool, playing tennis, surf fishing, or just "beaching it." Stroll for miles along uncrowded Atlantic Ocean beaches, collecting seashells and observing nature. Sit on the rear deck at sunset and enjoy the beautiful colors in the western sky. An outdoor shower will provide a refreshing way to wash off the sand and salt as you end your day outdoors. In the evening, sit on the upper deck and be amazed by the stars above.

When you arrive at Sea's Calling you will enter the lower level which contains a washer and dryer for your laundry needs. The second level has two tiled baths and three tastefully decorated bedrooms. Fresh linens are provided for all beds. In the first bedroom you will find a double bed and two bunks. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a memory foam mattress and ceiling fan. The third bedroom, the master, has a king bed with memory foam mattress, an en suite bathroom, a ceiling fan, and its own doorway to the lower deck. Here you can enjoy a shaded area and the porch swing to read, relax, or grab some quiet time. Each bedroom has a flat screen TV and DVD player with DirecTV satellite access.

The top level features an open concept with a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious deck. Off the kitchen is a large vaulted great room with living and dining space and a half bath. In addition to the breakfast bar seating for 3, a pub-height dining table seats 6 people. The living room features a 49 inch flat screen TV and Blu-Ray player for your entertainment. TV service includes 140 TV and music channels. In addition, there are movies, puzzles, cards, books, and family games for you to enjoy. Outdoors, there is a horseshoe pit, fish cleaning station, and a patio with grill, seating, and a picnic table. We offer free WiFi throughout the house.

For the kiddos, we have a Pack N Play, attachable booster seat with tray, high chair, and umbrella stroller. There is a safety gate at the upper deck steps and collapsible ones for indoor use. There is a deck box with beach toys, beach chairs, and cart. You'll find a cooler and tennis equipment for your use. And if you visit during cooler months, our electric fireplace will provide comfort and atmosphere.

Last but definitely not least, relax in the new hot tub, located for all-weather use, and refresh yourself from the day’s activities. Whatever the time of day you will love it! And our service company will clean upon your departure!

The home was better than what the listing appears. Beautifully decorated! More than enough for our family of 5. Beds were more than comfortable and we all slept well from our days at the beach. We loved the games! We are actually starting a new tradition of having Sorry tournaments! Definitely would stay again!

We felt right at home here and had plenty of room. Great kitchen, comfy beds. It's right across from the beach, and grocery store is in the next plaza. It is considered a 'dark area' at night and we got some terrific pictures of the Milky Way. I highly recommend it!

My husband and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary and stayed for almost a week at Seas Calling! The house is beautiful and includes the cutest beach themed touches throughout the home. Each deck offers views of the most gorgeous sunsets. We had easy access to the grocery store, restaurants & coffee shops just a few miles from the house! We will most definitely be returning! If you’re undecided as to whether or not you should stay here, think no more, just book!

We spent our family Thanksgiving at Sea's Calling in Avon, NC. This house was perfect for our vacation! The home had everything we could have possibly needed and was exactly as advertised. It was a very short walk to the beach. Our family was able to enjoy many of the local activities that we were hoping to take part in, such as fresh seafood from Sunrise Seafood Market, surfboard and wetsuit rentals from Hatteras Island Boardsports, and hours of great times on the beach. The neighborhood is beautiful and very quiet. The sunset and sunrise views from the home were amazing. This was a perfect location for our family vacation!

Seas calling was the perfect rental for our family vacation. The property was clean, well equipped, and close to shopping. We opted to drive out to one of the public access points to have more room on the beach and that worked perfect for us. The community pool was great and very convenient coming back from the beach. We would definitely stay at Seas calling again.

Great property with plenty of space for our family of 5- very clean, well stocked and convenient to Food Lion for groceries. Walk to the beach is short as described and ends at a very narrow and crowded stretch of sand. We had an ORV permit so we drove a few miles south on 12 to virtually empty beaches. Pool was awesome even with the Covid restrictions in place. Nice new hot tub was enjoyed by all. Fished in sound and surf - weather/winds did not cooperate but found a good hole a few miles south in the surf and had hours of fun pulling in croakers using sand fleas. A very enjoyable location, especially if you use it as a staging location to explore the multitude of beaches and sound access points just a few minutes away. BTW, from the top deck, we noted there are indeed four tiny slots between the surrounding house tops to see the ocean (but it is mostly views of sky and roof tops).

Otherwise place was well equipped with beach chairs, Beach buggy etc. Kitchen was also well equipped with maybe too many items. Hot tub appeared new and was nice to have. We would likely stay again if we were to visit Avon again.

The location was awesome. Avon is a nice town to vacation in. Secluded enough to have peace, but close enough to everything that you don't have to drive far to get groceries or grab a bite or cup of coffee. The walk to the beach was really short and we enjoyed watching the turtles every time we crossed the bridge. It was an easy trek because the whole path is paved and there is a beach cart to use that holds all of your beach gear. Once at the dunes, there is a hard walkway to get over, so it isn't bad at all. The beach is narrow, and the tide comes up pretty fast, so be sure to get onto the beach early or snag a spot on the upper part of the dune. The house was stocked with everything we needed and the gift basket awaiting us was cute. I actually used my new coffee mug this morning as I worked from home. There were tons of games and puzzles for us to use during the rainy days. The beds were very comfortable, and there were lots of extra pillows, and blankets to use. The owners were super helpful, responsive, and I enjoyed communicating with them over the planning period. Thank you for sharing your house with us. We had an awesome time. I hope to be back next year.

We met our son and his family in Avon for some beach and surf time, and Seas Calling was a perfect house for us all! We really enjoyed the layout, with the bedrooms on one floor, and the living area and kitchen on another. The house is bright and cheerful, and tastefully decorated in a fun beach decor. The multiple decks were a pleasure to sit on, whether we wanted sun or shade! The house is less than a 10 minute walk to the beach, and maybe a 5 minute car ride to the Avon Pier. Food Lion is just a 3 minute car ride! The home is in a fairly large, pleasant neighborhood, and offers good bike riding if you are so inclined. Finally, the owner, Gary, was SUPER responsive to all of our questions, and sent a LOT of helpful information when we booked the reservation. It was a great vacation!

Our trip was unfortunately planned to begin right after Dorian hit. The owners were excellent about communicating, especially after the storm and letting us know the condition of the property/area. They even offered to switch our rental to different dates if they were open so we wouldn't miss out on our vacation. We couldn't find other dates that would work for us but were able to extend our stay by a day so we didn't lose out on much time. We really appreciated that consideration, and how easy it was to communicate and check in. The property was fairly comfortable and easy to stay in with small kids. We appreciated all the games, baby gear and movies provided. Access to the beaches, grocery store, and other things in town was very convenient. The kitchen was pretty well stocked, only thing it lacked was storage containers with lids, plastic wrap, or tin foil which made putting leftovers away difficult till I picked up some bags at the grocery store. We did not request the towel package and brought our own bath/beach towels but overlooked the fact that there would be no linens in the bathroom whatsoever, only a couple towels in the kitchen. Had to run to the store for a few washcloths as well. The beds were not great, nor was the couch: my husband and I were left with sore backs after a few days. The couch was an old pullout with no mattress jimmy-rigged underneath with some boards to keep it from sinking to the floor. We had a little bit of an issue with the housekeeping company. We haven't stayed in many rentals but kind of assume that toilet paper and garbage bags would be in adequate supply. There was some of each on the counter when we arrived but it was made known by the company that was all that would be provided for our stay. We had registered with 4 adults/4 children although 2 adults stayed only a portion of the time; if they'd stayed we would have definitely run out of toilet paper. We did run out of trash bags since we have little ones in diapers and ate a lot of our meals in the place. Again, be prepared if you are staying more than a few nights you may run out of those things. We did enjoy our time very much despite these inconveniences. Avon is beautiful even after a storm and there is much to enjoy in all the surrounding areas as well.

Sea's Calling was just the right size for our family of 4 (two adults, two teen boys). Comfortable beds, full equipped kitchen, and lots of games and movies for down-time. We appreciated how clean we found the house! The decks are nice, especially the small private deck just off the stairway between the middle and top floors. The neighborhood has a safe feel, enjoyable community pool with parking spaces, and we liked that it was just a few minutes from both the grocery store and the lighthouse. Don't miss a quick early morning trip to the Orange Blossom Bakery in Buxton for Apple Uglies! The only thing we wished was different was more seating in the main family room, such as a larger couch and more easy chairs. Would also be nice to have a foot wash attachment on the outside shower. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

This was our first time in the Outer Banks. It is definitely far away from the and one of the most southern towns. At first we were concerned there wouldn't be enough to do.. but it was just what we needed. No traffic and tourist traps. Beach was literally a 3 minute drive and we spent most of our time there. Club pool was amazing. We went to Breakwater Inn (all the way at the end.. 28 minutes away) for a date night and it was amazing food and views. We did make an hour drive for a fishing expedition and it was well worth it. (Rock On Charters). We visited Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (15 minutes away) and was cool to climb to the top. Pangea Tavern was right by beach entrance and family friendly. We cooked most dinners at the house and grocery store is literally next door (and Duck Donuts too). We fell in love with the Outer Banks.

The house had everything that we needed and more. Compared to other houses that we have stayed at on OBX they had everything you could imagine for cookware and utensils, extra bedding if you needed it, games to play and lots of seating on the decks. I loved the décor of the house, it was very beachy. I loved getting up in the morning and getting my cup of coffee and just sitting on the front deck, there almost always seemed to be a breeze. It was just a short walk to the beach and the little bridge that you walked over had turtles that came swimming over looking for you to feed them. It was amazing how many of them there were! There is a community pool that is available for you to use also that is very nice. We had visitors almost every night at the neighbors house, a group of deer that came to eat. It was so neat to just sit on the deck and watch them, the group included 2 fawns. We really enjoyed our week at OBX and at Sea's Calling. Before our stay I had a question and Gary and Mary were very prompt about responding. They also let us know that on day of check-in that we could get in early because the house had been cleaned and was ready early. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Where to even start. First, we booked this house having never been to the Outer Banks before and we truly got lucky in our choice of rental properties. We were traveling with 3 adults and 3 children so were looking for 3-4 bedroom rental property. In the end, we chose Seas Calling, even with 3 versus the 4 bedroom, since it offered amenities to make travel with children easier and less expensive- booster seat, Pack and Play for our 2 year old to sleep in, beach cart and beach toys and games, plastic plates and cups for dinner. It was a smart move. Didn't even miss the 4th bedroom in our case. The property was clean and tidy when we arrived. We ate dinner outside on the porch every night and there was no shortage of kitchen supplies to cook your meals. The pool is a short bike ride away. With three kids, we drove the 3 minutes. Beach was a 5-10 minute walk (without or with kids). To not need to drive to the beach is a huge bonus for us so don't let the fact that the property is not directly on the beach scare you away. It truly is close enough to easily walk Plus you get to cross the bridge and see the turtles every day on the way there. Finally, communication with the hosts is what truly made a great and seamless booking and stay for our vacation this year. Never underestimate the value of a responsive host! Thank you for a great stay

The home was very clean, beautifully decorated, bright, and welcoming. I stopped at the grocery store before arriving so once I unpacked I was able to settle in for a relaxing weekend. The directions on how to use the remote controls for the TV’s were easy to understand, the beds were very comfortable, and I had plenty of hot water for showers. I had everything I needed to prepare the food that I picked up at the store before arriving. I spent much on my time on the deck enjoying the view, reading, and relaxing. I will definitely return!

We had a great time with sunny skies and lots of beach time - the house was just right for our family! Just about anything you could need was provided. The kids loved the DVDS available. One recommendation would be for a space to place pantry items. It was super comfortable for everyone in our group! Gary and Mary were quick to respond to questions / needs! We were able to receive several photographer recommendations too and have family portraits done at Cape Hatteras! Thanks for helping with making our family time together so memorable! We Love the OBX!

It was a 2 day trip for us so we had no idea to pack until morning we arrived. If that could be stated when booking I feel that would be better. But all and all it was very nice. We very much enjoyed our stay!!!!

For example like having beach chairs, all the pots pans and utinsels in the kitchen. The decks were nice for relaxing and socializing. And a dip in the hot tub in the evening was a good way to cap off the night. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking. My family and I will definatley be back.

We will enjoy the coffee mugs for many mornings to come! The kitchen is extremely well stocked. They have many board games, puzzles, and movies. We didn’t need to leave to have a fun. I appreciated the cleanliness of this home and all it had to offer us. Hope to visit again in the future and I definitely recommend it to anyone searching for a way to relax!

Our family group of 9 sisters, cousins, and toddler nieces spent several days at this charming home and had a wonderful time. It has a super easy walk to the beach and is really close to shopping and several restaurants. Weather in October was both spring-like and comfortable. The home was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and has really comfy beds. The well-equipped kitchen was perfect for any meal you’d want to prepare. We ate meals at home the entire time, and never needed a thing. The home is located in Kinnakeet Shores; we found it to be a very safe, quiet, and well-kept neighborhood. Also, perfect for the children. We ended our days relaxing in the hot tub. All in all, we had a wonderful time and will definitely stay at Sea’s Calling again!

We managed to plan our vacation for days in between two major hurricanes. However, that didn't deter us from having a wonderful experience. The home is very family friendly, beautifully decorated and adequately equipped. There were games galore, some movies, a porch swing, pots, pans, dishes, a portable high chair, baby gates and a pack n play. There were also beach chairs, a cart, some beach toys and some other items at our disposal. This home is conveniently located in a neighborhood within walking distance to the beach, a grocery store and a few dining establishments. There is also a community pool available for use. We couldn't want for anything more, as we were traveling with a toddler, an infant and a teenager. The Joyners helped make our experience as pleasant and inviting as possible. They were quick to respond and even messaged us during our stay to keep us up to date about potential issues that could possibly arise while Hurricane Jose was churning off the Atlantic coast. If you are looking for a quiet vacation in a family friendly, hospitable environment, search no further. We look forward to vacationing at Sea's Calling in the future.

Fell in love with the area more than the house

Typically we stay in the Nags Head area but we fell in love with the southern banks this trip! Avon is beautiful and quiet, a perfect destination. The house was really clean when we arrived and well decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable, all of them, which was a huge plus. The kitchen had anything you would need to prepare a meal & there were a lot of games and beach supplies available which was great. The walk to the beach was as advertised & the community has well kept paths which were great. Overall the house was OK, but the reasons we decided on a 3 star review are below. -The hot tub was not in functioning order, a huge disappointment! We called the property management company and were told they had to order a part and they had no idea when it would be fixed, needless to say we never got to use it. It appeared to be a rather old hot tub so hopefully a replacement is in the plans. -The mosquitos are BAD. I mean really bad. You could not walk to the car without getting a bite. Understand this is not the owners fault, but there was no bug spray provided at the home or even a note to bring some would have been nice! -The horse shoe setup was not conducive to actually playing, the overgrowth in the back area was bad. Also, a new house was being built next door and the construction tape went accross one of the pitts. -Multiple deck slats are loose/missing nails, safety issue when the house is advertised to be kid friendly. We just kept our toddler off of the decks. -This last issue is more with the property management company, but we had fishing gear and a pair of sneakers disappear from the carport within the same hour time frame they had someone come take our trash out. The next day the gentleman came back to bring the trash can in and was looking around the carport before we asked him if he needed anything and then he left. Just a really thing to have happen in such a nice neighborhood. Overall we enjoyed our 4 night trip, and are thankful for good weather that kept us at the beach 😎

We had a great week at Sea's Calling! The home has more than enough ammenedies to make you feel comfortable and at home. We travelled with our two year old son and like other have said the house has several things to help a toddler stay easier:booster seat, baby gate, pack and play, and even children's books in the bedroom! The home is situated in a great quiet neighborhood. The location allows for a short walk to the beach and a quick drive to the pool. The house also has carts for hauling all the beach nessecities which was a huge bonus! The location allows for quick trips to several area restaurants. The grocery store is VERY close for any needed shopping. In addition, there is a fresh seafood market as well! We are looking forward to another visit to Seas Calling. *one thing to keep in mind the home does have several sets of steps so if someone you are traveling with struggles with steps this is not the home to choose.*

Sea's Calling turned out to be just right for the getaway we were looking for in the Spring. Gary & Mary were wonderful hosts, responding promptly to any communication. They were very accommodating to the dates we requested, which allowed for a few of our (adult) children to visit us for the weekend while we were at Sea's Calling. They also allowed us to be flexible with our stay when the weather was so nice and we requested to stay an extra day! The home is beautifully decorated, yet very comfortable with so many nice deck areas to sit - or swing - outside. The home is very well-stocked with any cooking supplies we could possibly have needed which was great, because we brought all of our own food. There is a Food Lion within walking distance (or a few minutes by car!) for anything we forgot. We usually go to the OBX in the summer, and stay north further and beachfront, so we weren't sure how we would like this location. It turned out to be just fine - a short walk to get to the beach (with turtles & fish to look at on the way), and a nice walk to the pier. However, we mostly used the 4WD access (#38) about a mile down the road since my husband likes to fish. It allowed for us to haul our supplies in the vehicle and drive right out onto the beach and set up for fishing, reading, walking, or napping on the beach right next to our car. We also appreciate staying here in Avon, where it's not so built up, commercialized, or crowded (yet?). There is a lot of natural beauty, Pea Island, and also easy access to Hatteras. We would definitely recommend Sea's Calling!

    Everything and more!

We traveled with a 1 year old, and I was very appreciative with all the amenities for a baby. From the playpen and stroller to the small plates, cups and bowls. The decks were amazing, the neighborhood lovely, and the walk to the beach was easy. Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful home.

We truly enjoyed our one-week stay at Sea's Calling. Gary & Mary were a joy to work with, and always responded to us almost immediately before and during our stay. We noticed a problem with the hot tub when we first tried to use it, and once I contacted them, they had someone out within an hour to fix the problem so that we could enjoy it for the remainder of our stay :) The house is beautifully decorated with plenty of room for our family. The beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to stay in and cook dinners. The neighborhood is very quiet, and it is only a short walk to the beach (which we thoroughly enjoyed). The grocery store is just a short distance (you could actually walk there if you needed to) so it was very convenient for stocking up on groceries for our stay. We loved the town of Avon because it is not in the middle of the hustle and bustle (like Nag's Head or Kitty Hawk), but yet we had everything we needed right there and didn't have to drive long distances. We highly recommend these owners and this beautiful home for your next vacation!

We spent a week at Sea's calling and enjoyed our stay at this pleasant home away from home. Our family of 4 had a fun and relaxing time. Walk to the beach was doable with a 2 and 6 year old and we liked seeing the turtle on our walk across the little bridge/walkway on the way. Other beaches are within a short driving distance. Kids liked the Haulover or Canadian Beach that's a few miles up the road as there were hardly any waves. The food lion, dollar store and other shops and restaurants were very close by which was a nice perk. Kitchen was well stocked. Our kids shared a room as they loved the bunk bed and their own TV. The bros sandwich shack was a nice place for lunch or dinner. Some of the seafood restaurants were overpriced and not that great. We took the ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke which is a 30 minute drive to the ferry and about an hour on the ferry boat to Ocracoke which we all enjoyed. Great seafood right at the harbor and fun little shoppes. The lighthouse is close by and there is anothe beach there as well witht the lighthouse as backdrop. We also visited pea island wildlife refuge. All in all Avon and Hatteras Island had a lot to offer. There are no chain restaurants besides subway and Dairy Queen which was fine with me but my hubby would have liked to have Walmart or other big box stores nearby so our shopping wouldn't have been limited to mainly the food lion. The pool was very close and nice but without a slide or diving board. Anyway the house was as advertised with lots of room and pleasantly decorated and well kept. It was fun to stay here. Thanks for a great family friendly home 😊.

Sea's Calling was the perfect home for my four grown children (ages 16, 19, 21 and 22) and me. We have all been working incredibly hard in different ways and needed to rest up and reconnect with each other. The house is wonderfully cozy and a welcome retreat from the beach and hot sun. The ac worked great, even on the hottest days. The open kitchen/dining/living area allowed us all to do our own thing yet still chat with each other. The three decks and comfy bedrooms let us disappear for quiet time when necessary. We all raved about the memory foam beds and slept fantastic! We are great cooks and prefer not to eat out, so we were exceptionally pleased with the kitchen set up and supplies. We often had three people at a time in the kitchen cooking, chopping, etc. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking to relax and rest. I also think it would be great for small children because it is in a quiet neighborhood with minimal traffic and a nightly ice cream truck! The beach is a short walk away, although we preferred to drive out of town just a few minutes south where there were hardly any people, it was like our own private beach! The grocery store is in walking distance, is open 24 hours in the summer, and had everything we needed. Absolutely fantastic all the way around! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay at Sea's Calling.

We decided to go down to OBX for spring break week. After looking at hotels, we realized it made more sense to rent a house in Avon for the week. Great choice! Sea's Calling was a beautiful house to stay in for the week. Looks even nicer in person and is situated in a cute community with easy access to everything. The beach is a quick walk across the street. The grocery store and several good dining options are all within a mile. We could not have been happier with our choice. The home has three large bedrooms with plenty of room. The kids room has two bunks and a full size bed. Kitchen was exceptionally well stocked with everything we needed to cook and dine in. And we appreciated that the house was stocked with a ton of board games, WII, and an excellent television package. Since we were visiting in the off season, we had plenty of entertainment options in the home. Lastly just wanted to add that the owners were completely awesome. Our family of seven travelers had room to spare in this very clean and well-equipped home. We loved eating breakfast on the front deck in the mornings and watching the sun set over the Sound from the back deck in the evenings. And the shaded second story deck was great for an afternoon read or rest. We used the relaxing ground floor hot tub (also shaded) nearly every day of our stay, and also loved having the outdoor shower, which made it like having three full bathrooms. The walk through the neighborhood to the beach was actually kind of fun; we saw lots of turtles and even an otter as we crossed the bridge over the stream to get to the highway, which is only a single lane in each direction. The beach was beautiful and never crowded, even though we were there in high vacation season. We made a beach bonfire (don't forget to download and print your permit!) one evening and went crab hunting with flashlights on the beach another night. Crabs everywhere! The house was so convenient to grocery shopping and restaurants (totally walkable) and the community pool (also walkable) is really nice. This was our first trip to the Outer Banks and Sea's Calling was a great introduction! Thanks for an awesome stay!
