For the 2021 season, new owners, Frank and Sue, have updated Red Meadow Lodge with many improvements that guests will love!
Bring the friends and family! Load up your raft and fishing poles! Red Meadow Lodge offers space for larger family groups to enjoy a wilderness experience on the edge of Glacier Park. To schedule an event or for groups with RVs, please send a message to Karina, our property manager, detailing your group situation for a custom price quote.
Located 5 miles north of the small community of Polebridge, the Lodge offers a unique glimpse of a life most of us have forgotten. It sleeps 6 adults comfortably in beds and there is a hid-a-bed sofa in the master suite. The over-sized sleeping porch provides the opportunity to bring your sleeping bag and sleep under the stars.
Rustic and spacious, the lodge was hand built over 40 years ago with local materials much of which came from the property. The Sue family felled trees and hand-milled them into lumber, they collected stone and developed the spring which provides gravity fed water to the property.
Improvements for 2021 include solar power! A combination of solar and propane powers the property, providing for your lighting, hot water, refrigeration and cooking needs. Battery powered lights, flashlights and battery powered fans are also available.
Located on 15 acres bordering the North Fork River, Red Meadow Lodge sits close to the edge of the river's high bank, affording spectacular views of the NW corner of Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies. Bear, moose, wolf and deer frequent the area. Watch bald eagles fish the river and delicate hummingbirds flit around the Lodge enjoying all the flowers. Take a book and enjoy the hammock and the kids will love the wood swing. You may even hear one of our local wolf packs in the late evening as you snuggle in a sleeping bag out on the porch.
The property offers private road access to the North Fork River allowing you to float and fish right out the door. Put in at one of the launch locations to the north and pull out at the Lodge or put in just below the Lodge and float to Polebridge for dinner at the Saloon or a fresh-baked huckleberry bear claw at the Mercantile.
Enjoy dinner by candlelight at the antique dining table or take in the views from the picnic table and fire ring just steps from the Lodge. The large fire ring, is well stocked with chairs, firewood and hot dog roasting sticks. It easily accommodates a crowd for a fish fry or BBQ at the end of a day on the river. Or just relax and let the kids roast marshmallows while twilight paints the mountains shades of blue and purple.
For cooks, in addition to the fire ring, wood pellet and charcoal grills are provided and the kitchen features a wood cook stove and a four burner propane stove with oven centered in a wrap around bar which invites you to pull up a stool and visit while dinner is cooking. There are two propane refrigerators/freezers to store your groceries and drinks and the cabinets are well stocked with dishes.
The living area is cozy and its shelves lined with fascinating books and games from the owner's personal collection. If you're a book lover, accept the invitation to quiet afternoon with old-fashioned entertainment stacked at your elbow or play a game of charades! We've especially stocked the bunk room with a toy chest, games and books just for the kids.
The large master suite features a king bed and a hide-a-bed couch with views of Glacier Park. It has it's own wood stove for cool mornings or evenings and a 1/2 bath. The west bedroom opens on to the sleeping porch, you may bring sleeping bags and hold a slumber party! If you're lucky, you'll see the Northern Lights or hear the wolf pack before the sound of the river lulls you to sleep.
A clean and safe environment for our guests / staff is of utmost importance. If you are sick, please stay home and notify us immediately. We will rebook your stay. Additional cleaning procedures remain for our 2021 season. High touch surfaces are sanitized and the property thoroughly ventilated and cleaned before you arrive. In the kitchen, we provide ONLY paper goods (plates, bowls, cups and plastic utensils) for your use. Cooking utensils are sanitized in accordance with health department regulations between each guest.
Use of this remote property is a choice you make and you assume all health risks associated with the use of the property.
Bookings over 7 days require owner approval.
I absolutely loved Red Meadow Lodge. It was a slice of heaven on our trip to Montana/Glacier. On our last day, we decided to just hang at the house instead of trekking into the park again. I’m so glad we did, because we saw a wolf in the morning slowly walking along the banks of the river. I couldn’t believe it. We had a wonderful time fishing at the river, star gazing on the deck, sitting by the fire, and snoozing in the hammock. Book your reservation and Don’t think twice.
I stayed at the cabin with my husband while we were visiting Glacier NP, and we both agreed that of all our travels, this is our absolute FAVORITE cabin we have ever stayed at! It is so unique and well constructed and decorated - there was always something to look at, without being cluttered. My favorite spot was the sleeping porch - we spent a night under the stars, with owls calling and bats flying overhead. Just perfect! My husband's favorite spot was the adirondack chairs overlooking the river, where we were lucky enough to watch a small grizzly come by and then swim across! We loved the privacy of the cabin, and it was close enough to Polebridge that we drove there a few times for coffee and pastries. I can't say enough good things about this place - it is truly exceptional and absolutely worth staying here!
Absolutely perfect. Clean, stocked, and cozy. Beautiful location!
The cabin came with everything we needed to stay off the grid. The views were amazing. Everything was so clean. This cabin gave us the full mountain experience !!!!! Will definitely come back.
We arrived with easy check in and found an abundant amount of items to enjoy on our vacation ( spices, foil, saran wrap, paper plates, plastic cups, napkins, paper towels, and a great amount of cooking utensils, pots, and pans) The view of the river and mountains was spectacular. The upstairs cabanna was a real outside treat. Thanks for a memorable vacation.
We enjoyed our brief trip back in time to this lovely, well equipped but still rustic property.
Communication was exceptional with property manager and owner stopped by as well to make sure we had everything we needed. We are a family of 6, 3 teens and a 10 year old. Life with screens rob so much of our time and staying here was a blessing as we enjoyed life together how I remembered it during my childhood 30+ years ago. We truly reconnected as a family, full attention and quality time. Our kids played Montanopoly that lasted 3 straight evenings while my husband and I enjoyed the propane fire on the upper deck stargazing. The guys FULLY enjoyed every moment they could fly fishing on the river just steps behind the cabin. They caught over 20 (and released) rainbow trout while the girls swam and mama enjoyed soaking her feet riverside. We visited during temps over 90, the water was so refreshing, clean, and clear. There were wildfires in the area but we felt perfectly safe thanks to communication with management keeping us in the loop if need for evacuation ever came. We ventured out to GNP 3 out of the 5 days we stayed, took 1 hour to West Glacier, 1.5 hours to Logan's Pass, and 2 hours to St. Mary's. The curvy gravel roads slow travel time down but honestly, we could've stayed at this perfect cabin the whole time and been beyond happy. Clean, comfortable, and with everything you need!
Everything went smooth. The property had everything we needed from cooking supplies to personal products. Plenty of room for privacy and close to several attractions.
Amazing, sweeping views of Glacier and the North Fork! Really cool home. We will be back!
We absolutely loved it here!!! The Cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed, the views from the home were stunning ( we even took a little swim in the river),enjoyed a meal over the fire pit, and loved being disconnected for a few days. We will treasure the time we spent here surrounded by so much beauty!!
This was hands down the best vacation decision I’ve ever made! This cabin is magical. The view is priceless and the manager is excellent! Karina was quick to respond and helpful in every way!!! Book this cabin- you won’t regret it-
Visited Red Meadow Lodge in early June as a group of 5 and I don't think we have EVER stayed in such an ideal place. There were a couple rainy days during our stay but it didn't impact our visit negatively at all--we just spent time cozying up by the fire and watching the gorgeous mountain views from the house. The house itself is the perfect combination of rustic and off the grid but also with all the amenities and comforts of home. The kitchen is stocked with spices, coffees, oils and everything you need for cooking, and there are plenty of games so you'd never have to leave the house! We spent one evening fishing on the river only steps away from the house. If you are visiting Glacier Park it's a very short drive to the North entrance which is less heavily trafficked than the W. Glacier entrance which made for easy access to beautiful hikes. This trip was unforgettable and we will absolutely be returning!!
Pictures don’t do this place justice! It was fabulous, especially if you want to unplug from everyday life. Host came and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Couldn’t be happier with our stay.
Totally enjoyed our brief stay. Due to traveling clear across the country, we had to drop a day from our time in the area but Lord willing, we will get to come back for an extended stay. River is amazing, view from the main bedroom and deck is exceptional. Karina was extremely helpful with advice and suggestions for our group of 2 couples. If you are looking for a place off the beaten path to disconnect, Red Meadow Lodge is the place for you!
We had a wonderful time at the Red Meadow Lodge, it was the perfect spot for our trip to Glacier National Park. Truly an ideal off grid vacation experience and the views from the house are just breathtaking!
This is an adorable cabin and the pictures do not do it justice. It has a well stocked kitchen with comfortable furnishings and loads of charm. The view is incredible. Access to Flathead River is such a special treat. A perfect get away in the unparalleled beauty of Montana.
Karina was very helpful! When we got there, the owner, Sue, stopped by to welcome us and gave us all kinds of tips about where to hike and explore. Fishing at the river everyday was so relaxing! Prepare for mosquitoes, a rough half hour drive into the nearest town and there aren’t any restaurants at all close. But this is all part of the fantastic off-grid experience! Highly recommend!
This is a recently renovated home that overlooks the North Fork Flathead River, Glacier National Park, and the Continental Divide. The excellent views from the living area and upstairs bedrooms are provided by large windows and a walk-out balcony with chairs and hammock. Solar power provides electricity for lighting. The home was spotless and well-stocked with cooking supplies, books, games, and local information. The wood beams were hand cut, adding to the rustic nature of the home. Wood-burning stoves function as both heating and cooking, if desired. Both the owner and property manager were very helpful and understanding. The location is somewhat remote, but within 5 miles of Polebridge, MT, and an entrance to Glacier Park. The Polebridge Mercantile is a popular bakery and general store for.the area, and the nearby Northern Lights Saloon is also a favorite for the locals for food. Well worth the trip and a good spot to enjoy the remote northwestern section of Glacier. We would like to return and enjoy more time in the home. Thanks, Red Meadow Lodge
New owners making wonderful updates and improvements - and cant beat the view! Very accommodating, wonderful getaway! The property manager does require an extensive contract which was inconvenient - felt like applying for a mortgage and invasive questions - the only negative part of the stay. All else was wonderful!
One of a kind property on the high bank of the North Fork. Our first visit and hopefully not our last!! Our family of five visited last week in July and thoroughly enjoyed every day. Karina, the property Mgr, was very welcoming and extremely helpful with area and property Info. We truly appreciate you coming by when you received an emergency call from my wife’s family and helping us get to a phone. Thank you again for making that effort late at night. Red Meadow Lodge has a recent remodel with limited power now available which provided some conveniences that we didn’t expect- which was nice, but we were very glad to see no TV media/ internet available- just the sounds of the river, and the wildlife. The king bed in the master is really comfortable and the view of the morning sunrise over the range is absolutely spectacular. Everything you could need is provided in the kitchen, both cast iron and non stick, toasting irons, grinders, a good ole’ coffee pot. Even a fully stocked industrial-sized first-aid cabinet, in case you run into trouble. River access is easy, and the fish were biting. The fire ring is super solid with Adirondacks around, stacked wood dry and ready to split. After the fire dies down, there are more stars in that dark sky than you could count in a hundred lifetimes. It’s a short drive to Bowman Lake and Karina provided us a ton of info on other good local hikes. We did Cyclone Lookout, had lunch at the top- then did GTS Rd in the mid afternoon, evening. Great days at Red Meadow Lodge and North Fork!! Thanks again for you sharing your property and your hospitality!
Great times and great views. We may make this a family tradition. Kids didn’t even miss their electronics. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you!
This property is an excellent choice for someone seeking beautiful scenery and solitude. The fishing opportunity directly from the property was wonderful along with the amazing backyard! The lodge has so much charm and character while still offering many modern comforts. We loved our stay!!
We had great communication with the property manager from the beginning. Easy place to fall in love with. The master bedroom is amazing and bed is comfortable. Lil mosquito repellant is the only thing to keep in mind. You can't have better views and when the Polebridge entrance to the park is open you are in the best spot. Cruise to Kintla and Bowan lakes from the west entrance and also go south towards Quartz and Logging lakes. Thank you for a great stay.
It was everything we hoped it would be based on the listing. Wonderful property, scenery, and atmosphere.
The house exceeded expectations.
I’ve stayed at red meadow a dozen times over the last 15 years. It’s a beautiful peaceful respite from reality. I’ll be back over and over.
The agent did a great job answering my questions Beautiful view of the river and the mountains in Glacier National Park
Love the upper deck and the fire pit area down by the river. Electricity is not a problem
Our family spent 6 nights in this beautiful rustic cabin away from the hustle of the Glacier crowds but still close enough to enjoy a few days in the park. We loved the access to the river and the lack of phone reception made our stay peaceful! Bring all the supplies you need and never leave, the view is breathtaking. The owners were next door all week and gave us tips and pointers about visiting. This property is a little slice of heaven.
We were very impressed with house and the beautiful surroundings. We greatly enjoyed the owner who were very nice
Great property. Off the grid. No electricity, WiFi, cell. What a great place to be awa
Imagine you won't be able to see the glaciers due to the fires in Glacier National Park and some smaller fires in the area outside of the park. We stayed at Red Meadows lodge for three nights, and it didn't even matter. The home was constructed by hand by the owner. The property is stunning. We fished the river out back every morning and afternoon. The home is rustic, but has everything you need. We especially enjoyed reading from the large selection of well used books throughout the home in the evening under the glow of the propane lighting. I can't imagine how stunning this property would be if there were no fires and you could see the glaciers. We have stayed on the North Fork several times before and this trip did not disappoint. The caretaker (Karina) was great to work with!
I was looking forward to this stay and a chance to truly disconnect. I had high hopes and the property exceeded them in every way. The property is so well equipped that the lack of power was barely noticeable; certainly didn’t feel like we were having to compromise basic amenities for an opportunity to stay at this truly special location. Could spend the whole summer there given a chance. Can’t wait to return!!
We have stayed at the Red Meadow Chalet before and it did not disappoint! It was mosquito season and they were worse than usual. Other than that we can't wait to return. Thank you for such a nice clean place to stay. The view is out of this world and the North Fork River is beautiful! If you want to unplug and rejuvenate, this is your place!
We had a wonderful week in Polebridge/Glacier. This is one of our favorite places to be. The house setting is amazing. Gorgeous views! We took advantage of the river access and floated from Ford to the property, beached the boat for the night and the next day we leisurely floated to Polebridge and had dinner at the Northern Lights Saloon. We lost count of the fish we caught. It was amazing. The house was comfortable. It certainly was rustic which we expected but it might not be for everyone. The caretakers were responsive and kind.
This cabin provides all the beauty and seclusion nature has to offer. We enjoyed fishing at the river, sitting and watching the sunset in the evenings and the wild life in the mornings. We stayed with teenage boys. They were never bored. We will come again and recommend this place to our friends.
My family and I just got back from our stay in this amazing location. The cabin has enough amenities you can enjoy the comforts of home yet still feel a part of the nature you are immersed in. I haven't slept in a more comfortable bed away from home - ever. The views of the Flathead river and Glacier National Park on the far side were amazing from both the bedroom and the living area and provided a backdrop that is indescribable in its beauty. The quaint Polebridge just down the road was a great getaway for a meal and the bakery was phenomenal. Glacier National Park is very accessible just 12 miles down the road but I personally never wanted to leave the cabin and the river you can walk to for fishing and wading. It would be a great spot for rafting and kayaking from basically your front door. We had dirt bikes and four wheelers and loved exploring the area on the roads and trails. The large fire pit was so enjoyable in the evenings and was a big favorite. Owners were great to work with and the property was clean and well maintained. Definitely will return and recommend to all.
My husband and I enjoyed this very comfortable and spacious cabin on the scenic North Fork River. The views of the river and GNP mountains are truly some of the most beautiful we have ever seen! Cabin had everything we wanted and needed, owners were very accomodating and informative of the Polebridge area. Flyfishing from the bank of the river, rafting, and stargazing were just a few of the activities we enjoyed during our stay. We look forward to our next stay!
