This home with waterfront is perfect for family reunions, extended families, or just large groups of friends! The east side location provides plenty of sunshine and awesome sunsets. There is a large two acre grassy lawn for kids to play and no neighbors on either side near the house. Since the yard is very spacious, you do have to walk approximately 100 yards (length of a football field) down the gently sloping property to the beach. The property gets more narrow towards the beach area where cottages get closer together. A stone driveway to drive to the water for people who can't walk this distance is located on the side of the property and cuts across the lawn near the waterfront. It is also used as a driveway/lane for cottages directly on the water. Kids can run and play, fly a kite, adults can have a volleyball game, play hoops, roast marsh-mellows, have a picnic, and take part in all kinds of water activities.
Inside, there is plenty of space to hang out together in the living room or family room. The dining room table seats 10 and table in the adjacent kitchen seats 6. Just outside the dining room is the deck which can seat 5 more or so. Many folks enjoy the piano room where they have singalongs with the family. There are also lots of nooks and crannies in the home where you could enjoy some quiet time away from the group. Of course, you could also do a little sunning at the beach while listening to the lapping waves, or relax in the lawn under one of the large shade trees.
The beach is all small flat rocks(shale) and has a deck and 45 foot dock. There are some stairs (approx. 20) from the lawn to the beach area. The water is very clean and there are no weeds in this area. It's crystal clear and you can easily see the bottom. It's a nice gradual walk out into the water and is about three feet deep at the end of the dock, which is great for kids- no drop offs. There are two kayaks with life-jackets for your use. For extremely large groups, we also own another home a short walk away with three bedrooms and sleeps 10 that you can inquire about. Auburn is only a quick drive (a few miles)away, so it is very convenient for shopping, restaurants, parks, etc. There are many things to do in the area depending on your interests.

This is a large, very clean house that worked well for our extended family. Great kitchen. Our young grandkids enjoyed the shallow clear water, caught fish, and we kayaked. Owasco playground in nearby Auburn was lots of fun with Splash Pad, sandbox, cork play area and nice bathrooms. Thank you Christine for some great memories.
My family, my sister's family, and my parents wanted to get away for a few days and introduce the kids to skiing over winter break. This house was perfect because each family could have their own bedroom and bathroom. The kids loved exploring all the rooms and playing hide and seek (there were plenty of nooks and crannies in which to hide.) The owner was very accommodating. She kept in contact with us throughout our stay. And when a big snow storm was predicted to hit, made sure the driveway was plowed and cleared in time for us to get out and keep our schedule.
We stayed for New Years and it was a very cozy place, had a good time overall!
Christine was very generous and very responsive to and questions I had. The house was exactly as listed and the location is perfect. It is a 15 minute ride to any grocery stores, wineries and is right next to skaneatles center of down which is quaint but fun. I would highly recommend staying at this property.
Amazing stay! Beautiful property with tons of space! House had everything we could need and more. Christine was helpful and got back to me within minutes whenever I had a question. Couldn't recommend enough.
Christine was a great host and the property itself was immaculate. Although the trees take some of the view, the lake is in good sight and a short walk downhill. We made good use of the cute little beach during our time and the water couldn't have been more perfect. There is more than enough space for two families at this property. The only real downsides were the beds might need some updating (I personally was fine, but my parents are a little picky haha) and the walk up the hill is pretty steep, but we suggest stopping halfway up and enjoying the volleyball net! Once again, highly highly recommend. Also make sure to go to Prison City Brewing, you won't regret it!
The perfect getaway on a beautiful lake!
Great view and a great yard. However, many things need attention. The door knob on a basement bedroom didn't work and I got locked in the room when I shut the door. The oven only worked on broil. One of the large burners on the top of the stove didn't work. The diffuser on the kitchen sink was missing and the water tended to splash when you turned on the faucet.
We so enjoyed our stay. Lovely property. Very accessible owner. We biked and hiked and wine tasted. Could not have asked for a better location for all of that! We will definitely come back.
Beautiful large house with access to the lake that is close enough to. be convenient but not too close that you have to worry about the kids wandering into the water. Huge back yard for games of any sort. Air conditioning works great (it was REALLY hot when we were there!). Large kitchen for easily preparing meals for big groups and a perfect long table in the dinning room with plenty of chairs. Our entire family had a great time.
Our friends and family had a great 4th of July vacation!! Christine was VERY responsive to all of my e-mails. The house had everything we needed. We LOVED the huge yard and the beach! Looking forward to coming back!
We were a group of 9 ranging from 16 to 77. WE all had a wonderful time at the property. It is on a huge lot which helps the kids to play outside. You can walk down to the water to enjoy water activities or see the beautiful sunset in the evening. A neat and clean property. I would just suggest some upgrading of the bathrooms. Christine is wonderful to talk to and get answer to any of your question. Highly recommend.
This property is great for large or extended families. We came with our two daughters and their children. They spent their days at the lake, swimming, kayaking and fishing. We rented a fishing boat from a place 10 minutes away, and spent five hours cruising the lake. We had a campfire in the fire pit at night, and watched home movies on the DVD player/ large screen TV. The kitchen is large and the rooms were perfect. There is a Piano, which my grandchildren enjoyed. We older folks especially enjoyed the deck with plenty of chairs, and below was another table and chairs near the barbecue. The owner is a pleasure to deal with, always answering my questions with a quick reply. A great place to stay.
Our group had a wonderful time. Christine was easy to reach for any questions. Nice property, close to Harriet Tubman home and skiing at Sing Mountain.
The house was amazing and clean!!
Great communication, very accommodating. Beautiful property with lots to do around the area and easy access to city of auburn.
As always we enjoy our stay here!
This property is quite old. It is in need of repair. One of the burners on the stove did not work. The mattress on one of the beds downstairs was horrible. The shower on the top floor does not work properly. I could only turn it a fraction to the right and had no water pressure in order to not get scalded. The stairs leading down to the dock are severely slanted. The 2 bedrooms on the bottom floor are the size of a closet. I have rented many houses over the years and have never had to wash sheets and towels. This took a tremendous amount of time and was not mentioned in the description of the house. I would not rent this house again.
The place was perfect for our family. The lake is beautiful.
We really enjoyed our stay at your property! There was plenty of room for our group of 10 adults , 6 children. The kitchen is well stocked with large pans and baking pans as well as plenty of plates, bowls coffee mugs and silverware. Having 2 coffee pots was absolutely wonderful ( and a necessity for our group!) . The huge yard was a bonus for the kids to play in and the fire pit got plenty of use. Although we had neighbors the way the yard is situated, it felt like we were all by ourselves! The house is so close to the village that trips to Wegmans., the farmers market , parks (and the ice cream stand) were quick and easy. It was a hike to the lake but no one seemed to mind as we went swimming a couple times each day ! Christine was very responsive to our needs and questions and was very easy to work with.. She responded to emails very quickly. All in all it was a fun family vacation and we enjoyed staying here!
Big thank you to Christine for offering her kayaks! Kayaking into the sunsets and making s’mores over the bonfire were very fun activities for everyone.
I bring my family up each year from NC to visit NY family. This property had plenty of comfortable lodging, and it is very nice to have access to the lake and a dock. The owner was very easy to work with and we had a great week.
We enjoyed our stay.
Our group of 10 spent the weekend here for a wedding in the area, and we had a great stay! The house comfortably fit everyone, and Christine was extremely responsive for any questions that came up. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. Would recommend!
We traveled to the area for a friend’s wedding and decided to come up a few days early. The house was perfect for our big group! Wonderful common areas and super clean, great access to the lake and such an easy check-in/check-out. We will definitely be back if we ever travel this way again!
We had plenty of sleeping space and plenty of space for hanging out. My small children LOVED all the toys and the piano. The back deck has a lovely view. The walk to and from the lake dock is a little ways as the description says, but totally worth it. Such a beautiful and fun place to stay for our big family vacation!
The property is extremely roomy. This property is comfortable for a large group. There were ten of us and we had plenty of space to spread out or gather as a group. There was a bathroom on each floor which provided real convenience. Also a dishwasher and a washer and dryer. All linens are provided. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were nice size and there was plenty of space to really get unpacked (closets and dresser drawers). The house itself was in nice shape and offered plenty of amenities. Before coming while chatting with Christine about the property I asked if she had a crockpot. She didn't which I didn't find unusual because no where else I've been ever had one either but she was so kind as to go out and buy one so I didn't have to pack mine. She was very, very helpful (went above and beyond) in meeting our needs. She arranged with a neighbor to provide power at the dock to charge our on-board boat batteries and other small things which she didn't need to do. She was a delight to work with. A very nice stay because of all the property offered and because of Christine's wonderful hospitality. Thank you Christine for such a comfortable and relaxing stay,
We use this house for a large group of riders who frequently travel to horse shows in the area. We love it! Team dinner and meetings in the dinning room and family room. Always plenty of room. The owner has been more than accommodating! Thank you!
We were looking for a place for our group to stay while we were attending a horse show. We wanted a place to relax at night without being on top of each other. We had exactly that.
We were a group of 16 (11 adults, 4 teenagers and an infant). Rabbit Run was perfect for us, with room for more. The place was very well stocked. We did not have to take linens, dishes, cutlery or cooking utensils. Almost felt like being at home, with the added advantage of being surrounded by nature and serenity. Christine was very courteous and responsive to our queries and clarified every little doubt that we had. We had a blast!!
There were eleven of us at the house, and so much of the vacation was perfect. We chose to plan nothing...just to be together (four generations) and to relax. We played in the water everyday. The beach is stony but watershoes do the trick. We could take a wheelchair to the stairs to the beach which was perfect for great-grandma. The kayaks were such fun. There are shells which intrigue the little ones. The kitchen is super well stocked and the towels and linens very, very adequate. The house is three levels of good! The lawn allowed us to play long base kickball or throw a football. We had a fire in the fire pit, but we brought our own wood which would be necessary. Two things I would say: bring kitchen shears if you use them often. There are no shears in the kitchen, but two coffee makers and two toasters! Christine plans for a big crowd, for sure. And, the cooking utensils in the kitchen are plastic. We wished over and over for a metal turner for pans that weren't teflon etc. We took a side trip to Fillmore Glen...a great place to hike, but quite a long hike. Prepare for that should you decide to go. We also played mini-golf at Tom Thumb...not too far up the road. Very nice and yummy ice cream. We rented a pontoon boat from Owasco Marina. That was a hoot! Even though we got caught in a storm...still such a fun thing. Christine came on the double when the dishwasher quit. She came twice with parts to fix it, but, sadly, not successful. She apologized uphill and down, but I reminded her how much bonding occurs over the dishwater! Our vacation was a gift. The house was great! Pretty near perfect!!!!
We enjoyed our stay at this house. Our group ranged from 5 to 11 guests depending on the day of the week. There was a bed and room for everyone. The linens were new and beds comfortable. We used both refrigerators. We had a hot week so the air-conditioning was well appreciated. Especially for sleeping! It's a little bit of a walk to the lake but that way you get some exercise! A few of us even took out the kayaks. We are not new to Owasco lake having vacationed there for 15 yrs. We enjoyed this location. It was very convenient to stores, gas and boat launch. One guest had a boat. We were able to fish (caught 3 lg lake trout!) and enjoy the sandy shallow waters at the north end by Emerson park. The hostess was very helpful from start to finish we quick responses to any questions.
We rented this property for a weekend vacation by the lake. There were 14 of us, 7 couples, and the house was more than accommodating. If you're looking to get away from your norm and be outside, this house has it all. A spacious yard, fire pit, deck right off the back of the house, a volleyball net, and access to the lake. It was great. We spent every minute outside. If we take another getaway up into Northern New York, this is a spot we'll definitely look to rent again. Wonderful place that kept us all comfortable.
The cottage is roomy and comfortable. The owner was very helpful and responded quickly to my questions. I'm not sure about 22 people, but for the 11 of us it was perfect. It was very convenient to Auburn and Skaneateles.
The property was beautiful with lake access, fire pit, nice grill, and huge lawn. The house comfortably slept 11 of us and had a nice sized kitchen and living room that we could all hang out in at the same time. The host was very responsive and accommodating and even mailed a pair of jeans back to one of our group who had accidentally left them behind. Overall we really enjoyed our stay! The one thing that was a bit unusual to us (we're a group that frequently rents houses for weekends away) was that for this rental we were notified by mail a few weeks before our arrival date that we were required to bring most of our own basic supplies including toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towels, soap, dishwasher detergent etc... We were also asked to bring our own laundry detergent to wash , dry and fold sheets and towels prior to leaving on our departure day, which took a few hours as it was several loads. All in all it ended up not being a big deal and did not detract from our overall great time at this house, but it is a bit atypical of rentals in our experience to ask all this of guests and therefore might be helpful if mentioned up front in the listing rather than mailed out as additional instructions a few weeks before the arrival date. All in all we had a great time and very much enjoyed our stay!
This house was good for the price and having lake access. We had a group of 12 friends get together for a long weekend and everyone fit comfortablly in the house. We spent the majority of the time hanging out on the dock and in the water. The kitchen was spacious and there was one large table that everyone could sit comfortably at. The house had access to use kayaks and a fire pit, which was a lot of fun. Overall we had a great time. The house was very clean, however just remember to shut doors right away because there were some bugs that got in the house because there is wooded area on one side of the property. The only downside was one bedroom did not have any windows (the trundle bedroom in the basement) and the stairs leading down to the lake could use some maintenance.
We booked this for a vacation for our extended family, and were looking specifically for somewhere near a lake but not necessarily right on the water. it worked out brilliantly. Christine the owner was kind, helpful, polite and very responsive. We had eight adults, in four couples, and a baby with us and there was plenty of space and beds for everyone. The house officially takes 20+ people and it was very comfortable for 9, with two sitting rooms, a dining room, plenty of outdoor furniture, and four large double bedrooms, a smaller double, and a single. There was a cot for the baby, enormous amounts of bedding and towels available, and plenty of comfortable places to sit. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans and knives, the oven was easy to use, and it was well-kept and clean. Because the house can be used for large groups, there were two fridge-freezers which was great as well as a barbecue on the patio. It was easy to cook for large groups in the spacious kitchen and there was a dishwasher, meaning that the cleaning up was pretty easy. As had a 14 month old child with us, we wanted to make sure he'd be safe outside and that we would all be able to enjoy the water. The garden is huge - a long rolling lawn with a basketball hoop, benches and firepit. There's a short walk through a neighboring garden to get to the private dock and that proved ideal. The house has a pair of canoes and paddles, which we took out on the lake several times. Owasco Lake itself has quite a stony shore, but it was still possible to swim off the dock provided you wore waterproof shoes (recommended!). There's a number of very good restaurants in Auburn - we particularly liked Moro's Table (fancy & French), Lasca's (family friendly, excellent Italian trattoria), and Green Shutters (diner-style restaurant with outdoor seating and lots of ice cream choices). The Long Point State Park near the picturesque town of Aurora on Cayuga Lake and the pretty town of Skaneateles both offered good days out. We would highly recommend this place for any family or large group looking for a comfortable, clean, pleasant place to stay in the Finger Lakes. It was lovely.
This house offers plenty of sleeping options including extra rollaway beds. The house has beautiful decor. There's plenty of dishes, pots & pants, and cooking utensils available. The nice piano was a big hit for us as well. Having plenty of dining space was great for us as well. Overall, we like the clean house, it was not luxurious house, but it definitely had everything we needed. There's plenty of parking spaces. The yard is huge in which we all enjoyed playing with our kids. We played bad mitten, volleyball, did s'mores at the nice fire pit, and used the picnic tables. We also loved that we have access to the lake and utilized the 2 kayaks included with the property. We did some swimming as well. The dock was nice to sit and watch beautiful sunsets. Yes, beautiful sunsets! Christine was very quick in responding to all of our questions. We all left this property feeling very happy and looking forward to another reunion here in the future. Thanks, Christine!
I had to book this house for a retreat for 24 hours for 30-ish college students. It turned out to be perfect for what we needed! Christine left out instructions for how to maintain the house when we left, and was kind enough to keep pamphlets about the surrounding area in the kitchen. It is a very quaint house with excellent space for group discussions, and has beautiful art on the walls too! Backyard is also perfect for outdoor activities, and the house is only 3 miles from a picturesque park for photos. It was a great weekend!
We rented this house for an annual fall reunion and there was plenty of space and beds for all of us. Christine was always great with all communications before and after the visit and we particularly enjoyed the large fire ring in the back yard.
We vacationed with a large group- 4 families- with children ranging in age from 3-13. The house is a short walk from the lake, but not a problem even with small children. Despite some rainy weather, we had a wonderful time and the home accomodated us well. Christine was quick to respond to any questions or concerns that we had prior to and during our visit. We would definitely consider staying at this home again.
Our family of 18 stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. It is a very roomy, clean, well decorated, well stocked house with lots of outside space We really enjoyed coffee and conversation on the deck overlooking the small view of the lake. The kids loved the fire pit, volleyball, and sitting on the dock at the lake. Some steep steps to get down to the water - but worth the view of the lake! Christine and her husband were very responsive to questions and our needs. The weather was perfect - even a little warmer than usual. Nice area to walk or ride bikes. Walmart and Wegmans are close by. There is also a very nice park for kids on the lake in Auburn. Our family had nothing but good things to say about our choice of this home for our weekend.
For my sister's recent doctoral celebration, I rented this spacious family home for a long weekend. Christine was on top of email responses and made the whole process quite easy. The house more than accommodated the 12 family members we had (originally thought we would have as many as 17-19 and we would have had room for them all)! The house was impeccably clean. Although an older home, everything was in great works order. The yard is expansive - our only downside is that due to ll the graduation events, we didn't get a chanc to use the Firepit! Location was convenient with groceries in nearby Auburn- we went to the Wegmanns. Would highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay in this house. It was spacious and had everything we needed. The yard was huge, with lots of space to run around, play basketball and volleyball. The weather was beautiful and we sunbathed on the grass and had our meals outside on two picnic tables. The fishing was amazing! Those of us who didn’t fish just enjoyed their time on the deck, having snacks and dipping their feet in the water. Unfortunately it was too cold to swim, as it was just the beginning of the summer. We also located a Wal-Mart a short drive away, where we could re-stock our snacks.
