The house was very clean and in a great condition. Despite not having an A/C, the house stayed cool, it was mostly in the mid 70s outside during our stay in June. We enjoyed the patio and the ability to grill outside (great seafood market: John's Fish Market in Tisbury). Another plus, 2.5 bathrooms, so no wait for a bathroom or shower! And did I mention the outdoor shower?!?! Amazing addition! Bud was excellent with communication and responded very quickly to all my questions. The only thing I would add - we were visiting with a baby, the house does not have a crib, although we managed ok with bringing a pack n'play - in case that is a deal breaker for someone traveling with a baby. Another recommendation - the door to the first floor bedroom does not lock, so nosy family members just keep coming in. Overall, we had a great stay and would stay here in the future.
The home was as described, clean, updated . The area is quiet yet close to town. The reservations were easy to make and communication was top notch. Thank you for sharing your home!
Our family has been visiting MV for close to 50 years two to three times a year. We were very pleased with the location - quiet and peaceful. I am a walker so the location was great for that. Great care was taken by the owners for the pleasing interior. Loved the name of the road - Mud Puddle! Didn’t want to leave!
The cottage was fine, and the location was great. The place was clean when we got there, and we enjoyed the deck area. The light above the dining table does not work even though we tried changing the light bulbs. The two bedrooms upstairs also have faulty lighting. It wasn't a big deal because each room had at least one little lamp that worked, but it might be something for the owner to check out eventually. We were aware that the house might smell because of another review, and they were right. I think it might be from the mold on the roof or the siding. We just opened the windows to air out the place whenever we were indoors. All in all, it was a pleasant stay.
Bud, the property owner is a sweetheart! We contacted him a couple of times while on the island and he responded very quickly. The house was super clean when we arrived and so cozy. We had a great week!!!
Cute place in a good location. Love Mud Puddle House!
The home and location was completely perfect for our desired biking all around the vineyard.
Our family of four stayed at Mud Puddle cottage for two weeks and loved it. It was close enough to town to walk but far enough out that we had a spacious yard for our toddler to run around! The cottage itself was great - had everything we needed, was spacious and very well maintained. It also let in a great amount of natural light with the skylights and sliding doors. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend it!
This charming property was perfect for our short term stay; we would love to come back for a longer term stay. The cottage is well equipped with all kinds of kitchen necessities. It is quiet and secluded. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice.
We enjoyed a weekend at the cottage with 6 adults. We arrived to a perfectly clean home, and found it easy to maintain. The 3 bathrooms and showers made it easy for us all to get ready for the event we were attending. It’s a bit hard to see the cottage from the road, especially in the pitch dark. But it had everything we needed for our stay.
This house was the perfect size for the three of us. It had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you!
The house offers a lot - the decor/updates were very nice and there is everything that you need for a stay away from home. We didn't realize there wasnt AC in the house so it was a little warm but thankfully, cooled off at night. Guessing this is the reason it had a mildew smell from the humid air. The street is appropriately named as the potholes were huge and full of water when we arrived - so glad we had our truck. I tried to contact the property manager to ask a question before our stay but was not able to do so through the site.
This cottage in Vineyard Haven was lovely. Very spacious and very clean. This cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Very close to the ferry and the great little shopping area.
The house was very well equipped and comfortable. Had a musty odor much of the time. Dirt road was a bit off-putting. As older people we would have liked a bar on the bathtubs and perhaps a small rail to go up the stone steps and better lighting in the living room and upstairs bedroom. Good house for a family with kids.
The place was very nice and accurately described in the listing. Our group of 3-adults and 3-kids fit nicely. The accommodations were just what we needed for our vacation. The location is perfect for getting out and around the island. Easy walk into Vineyard Haven if you don’t always need a vehicle with you. My only constructive feedback is the direct road the cottage is located on is a dirt road and has some serious divots, but can be mitigated by driving slowly or if you are in an SUV. We would definitely go back to vacation on the island and stay here again.
The house was great Mud Puddle Road was a Challenge . I would stay there again.👍🏾
We had a great stay! The house was clean with appropriate amenities. Great location!
The cottage was very pleasant and clean. It does not have AC if that is a dealbreaker. I would definitely stay there again.
The property is a nice cottage in a very convenient location. It is a very clean property, only two minor complaints: a musty smell, but not grossly so and no instructions on how to leave the property (garbage etc) as we were leaving. Bud was very responsive to a minor issue and seemed like a very nice man. Aside from these minor issues we had a great stay and would stay again.
We loved our accomodations at the Vineyard Haven. While we could have done more research on our part - i.e. transportation and availability of A/C - we loved our stay in the vineyard! Thank you for the lovely accomodations that was the perfect size for 2 adults and 3 teenage children.
We loved the house and location . we were dissapointed about the air conditioning , although it wasn't terri ly humid so the fans were ok. Perhaps the owner will consider ceiling fans if he can't do AC ? Also, the road leading to the house was a mess. Very big mogels or ruts. If you had a low vehicle you couldn't drive on it. I just think people need a warning about that. We used our own linens. A few more chairs on the deck would be nice . I make these comments only to help the owner improve not to criticize. It is a lovely house. We thank you .
Prompt reply to our concerns. Quiet neighborhood. Comfortable beds. Maybe replace upstairs room fans. Overall a pleasant stay.
Everything was great-clean, great location to walk into town, owner was very helpful and responsive. Very happy with our experience.
Beautiful home off a dirt road therefore the name mud cottage. Appreciated that the home was spacious. Initially didn't have enough towels then discovered days later that they were in the dryer. Also the internet did not work so the property manager provided suggestions to address the problem. But I took this glitch as a blessing that precluded me from working while on vacation. So I didn't try to fix the problem.
This is a beautiful house in a great location in Vineyard Haven. It’s set away from the main road offer peace and quiet, but also in walking distance to all the shops in the downtown area. We were all very comfortable staying here. The home is clean and beautifully decorated and the beds are comfortable!
Comfortable house and great location.
The Mud Puddle Cottage was perfect for our group of 4's long weekend on Martha's Vineyard. All parts of the house were well-kept and thoughtfully appointed, from the kitchen to the bedrooms to the laundry room. It was also very accessible to almost all points on the island - would definitely stay again!
The house is in a great location and very comfortable. It was clean, spacious and well equipped. We would definitely stay here again. The only negative is the musty smell.
Was an amazing time.
House was clean and had everything needed for a very enjoyable stay. We had 5 guest and had plenty of room.
The big plus about this home is its proximity to the ferry landing. Without traffic on the main road, it was five minutes to the ferry. One could walk 15 min. to several cafes near the ferry landing. The house was clean. The beds were comfortable. The host, upon request, provided us with towels and linens at no extra charge. We were very grateful for that since my friends and I were coming from different parts of the world.
The house is in a decent location if you're looking to stay in Vineyard Haven (walk-able distance to downtown VH, but navigation of a highly trafficked intersection is required). It is set back off the road and secluded, with a nice yard. The house itself was fine; it could use some freshening up here and there, but has all the necessary amenities for a week's stay and was clean. Property manager was pleasant and checking-in and out was a breeze. The outdoor shower was a fun treat! We knew going into our stay that the house does not have A/C - but our stay also ended up being during a major heat wave. Without the usual island evening cool down, the house was pretty hot at all times - we brought along some extra fans (the house does have a few) which ended up coming in very handy.
Nice quiet, roomy home. Enjoyed our stay.
As advertise, this home is well located near Vinyard Haven and has three spacious bedrooms,an open floor plan that makes for ato relaxing vacation. I will return
Very clean and classic New England style home perfect for a small family or pair of couples. Love the multiple bathrooms and outdoor shower. Do not drive a small car down their private road but thankfully we had a large SUV. Conveniently located home within minutes to everything Only constructive criticism not just for this property but most cape area rentals is factor in linens/sheets into cleaning fee since it is inconvenient to pack and travel with bedding for multiple beds. Really can't find anything else to.improve since pretty much everything was on the money. The owner was very friendly and responsive. FYI the gaggles of huge turkeys are a riot trekking though all the yards like Bosses. It ks Shoe free home so the provided slippers are a very nice touch. Only wished every property owner is this meticulous and thoughtful )
Everything was as described - will stay again
This home is just as advertised. No surprises! Airy and comfortable, close to steamship authority landing at Vineyard Haven and shopping. About 15 minutes from Edgartown by car, this home is very well maintained by a conscientious owner. Off the beaten path, but surprisingly close to the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road. What a find! Very clean!
Our stay this August in Vineyard Haven was enhanced by our choice of this clean, comfortable, and well decorated home. The layout of the house was great with access to the deck from both the dining area and the master bedroom. The outdoor shower was another terrific feature. An added plus was its great location. Although the house was less than 100 yards from Edgartown Road and its bus service, it provided the wooded seclusion we sought. My wife and I give this home our highest recommendation.
This 3 bedroom cape home tucked just off the Edgartown Road in Vineyard Haven was clean, bright, updated, well maintained, and very comfortable for our family get-a-way. The owner, Bud, was helpful and a pleasure to work with. The new outdoor shower was great!
Nice secluded spot just off the main street. Fresh and airy with sparkling new appliances and hardwood floors. Bus route at the end of the lane for transportation to any part of the Vineyard. Relaxing and well located.
Very comfortable and clean. The kitchen, baths, bedrooms made me feel at home. Blueberry and raspberries growing outside when in season. User friendly . Very convenient to the other towns on the island such as Edgertown or Oak Bluffs. The bus service was frequent or you can take the many taxis waiting for you at the ferry. I highly recommend this home. It was worth the trip from NYC! Theresa Chung RN Northshore LIJ/Lenox Hill Hospital
