    Serene and Peaceful

A very private seven acre property with a gorgeous ocean view. The only sound is the surf and Steller's Jays who visited daily. The minute we entered the charming house, it felt like we were home. The design of the home takes full advantage of the beauty of the setting. The area has many beautiful ocean beaches, rivers and lakes, with all the attendant activities. We drove down to Prairie Creek Redwood Park in Northern California for a day old haunt for us. While we enjoyed the whole area, we loved the serenity of home and the setting, We'll be back.

If you’re looking for a very private stay with a million dollar view, this is your house. We had sunny days and wet windy days and both were perfect for different reasons. We cooked most our meals at the house, simply because we wouldn’t have found a restaurant with a better table. The kitchen had what we needed. We brought our own spices so that wasn’t a problem. We had a fire in the fireplace each evening. The bed was comfortable enough for it not being our own. There is no trail to the beach from the house. They said “minimally maintained”. I would say, don’t even try. The trail down the road, a few minutes walk, is much easier to navigate. We would definitely stay here again.

If you are looking for total seclusion, this is the right place. The house is situated at the end of a very long driveway that looks like something out of a Jeep commercial and the house itself is surrounded by dense forest. There is *nobody,* not a single neighbor, near the house. It's also true that getting to the beach is a hike, but it's a private hike, like your own personal trail. I've never actually been anywhere this remote, and I'll be honest: it was terrific. Plus, the fireplace was great, the kitchen was great, and the beds were great. I'd say I want to go back but I have a funny habit of finding VRBO houses that suddenly get so popular their prices double and we can no longer afford them! This place is so special and rare, I can't imagine the prices will stay reasonable for long.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Gold Beach house. The views from the house are even better than the pictures. Just amazing! We loved the remote location. Wildlife abounds here. The path to the beach directly in front of the house is not user friendly but there's an easy, well-maintained path very close by. The house is perfect for a small family or very close friends since the second bedroom is an open loft and there's just one bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. We really liked the warmth and casualness of the home. We didn't bring our dog but it's a perfect place for four legged family members.

The house was nice but overpriced for only sleeping 4 and 1 bathroom. There were also hidden fees such as guest fee, cleaning fee and damage fees. I vacuumed when I got there and filled the canister with dog hair. There were no spices, as advertised, and the barbeque was unusable and falling apart. There were no instructions on heater so used the fireplace the whole week. Also no instructions for TV and very minimal channel selection. Many light bulbs were out and the TV in the bedroom did not work. The walk to the beach was much further than 5 minutes as stated. Again, the house was nice but definitely not worth the price.

Pictures truly do not do this place justice. The views over the ocean with the sea stacks are incredible! We could hear the waves inside as we were falling asleep every night. The property is far from others, and it was so nice to have such a remote space to relax. All of the living room furniture and beds were very comfortable. We loved the massive table to play games on half of it and still have room to eat on the other half. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed for cooking all of our meals. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing place to stay! Beautiful home, beautiful location. This property truly made the trip for us. So many places we visit it's go, go, go but, we so enjoyed this property that we had one day we canceled most of our plans and just hung out at the house. We had the beach to ourselves every time we ventured down --- we enjoyed sunsets, tide pools, waves, and sand. The beach access was a bit of an adventure but for us that just added to the fun. We found the house to be quite comfortable for our family of four. My youngest teen loved the window seat and would sit and read for hours if she could. The kitchen was well appointed. We cooked multiple meals there and had everything we needed. If you're looking for serenity this is the place to be. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely home with us.

This house is amazing. Really big, high ceilings and super clean, superb view, remote location and the fact that dogs are welcome made it almost perfect. The house is well maintained and quite charming. It was a pleasure staying there. The landscape is fantastic, the beach is very close, in fact many beaches are super close and hardly a soul out there. Just a couple of notes: There is no 2nd bedroom, it is just a loft like area upstairs which made it hard to get privacy for the person sleeping up there. And there is lots of poison oak on the trail down the beach, but I understand that that is not the owners fault. Many beaches are close by to drive though if you are sensitive. Overall we would definitely stay here again. 4 stars due to the bedroom misinformation.

The house-- and more importantly, its location--was phenomenal. The house is designed so that you have an ever-present view of the stunning coast; even when you're not on the beach below, you feel as if you're in the great outdoors. The house was perfect in many ways-- very nicely appointed and maintained, but also dog friendly, so I didn't have to worry unnecessarily about our pup. Check-in was easy, as was check out. The kitchen was fairly well stocked. We had lots of towels and linens, and caring for the house was easy. We loved all the built in seating, and the huge dining table was our favorite eating, playing , viewing spot. The beach is breathtaking. There are stacks, arches, and rock formations that make for great tidal pooling. We did not encounter another person on the beach until the fourth day we were there! After checking the advisories, we gathered mussels on the beach and had a marvelous meal of fresh shellfish that night. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll definitely be back.

Very nice views and a well stocked rental. Saw some elk next to the cabin ( yes elk, not deer ) and harvested some Mussels from the beach below and added them to our pasta. The stroll to the water is not for older folks but Arizona State Beach is less than a mile drive away and a great place to have a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. This is probably the only VRBO property we would consider going back to.

We truly loved our stay at this little house with the huge view. It felt completely private as the property feels remote but really isn't. Once you turn off the highway, the road to the house is unpaved and curves through wild grass and trees where elk sometimes roam. It was fantastic to see the herd on our last day make their way through the yard. The house sits close but not too close to another one, and the bells on the neighbor's goats can be heard tinkling as you make your way down to the essentially private beach. Our dog loved everything about this place and even got little treats from the neighbor. The gently sloping path to the ocean took about ten minutes, but we loved getting a little exercise twice a day on our way down to an amazing stretch of beach at which we never saw another soul, save the seagulls. The only reason why we didn't give it five stars is that the place, while cozy and comfortable, is well loved and lived in, and if you're a TV junkie, bring some books for the bedroom. The bathroom, however, was very beautifully updated. And really, what more do you need? I'd also recommend stopping at a larger grocery store before arriving in Gold Beach or Port Orford. The smaller market is more like a convenience store. Every day we were there, we felt truly lucky to have found such a hidden gem and were sad when we had to take the road back to the real world again. We will always cherish our time there. It was truly special. Thank you for letting us stay at your magical hideaway!

Just stayed 4 nights here for my wife's and I honeymoon and it was worth it. The view was amazing and totally secluded. Aside from a few quick fixes (outdated tv, no DVD player in the living room, missing lightbulb and a few dirty dishes l) this place was perfect. Very well kept and clean. You can tell the place is older but looks like new! We had no issues while staying there and only ran into the neighbor once but it was very short and pleasant. We only ran into one person on the beach and other than that it was completely private and amazing! There is short walk to the beach where you have to walk by the neighbors house but the path was easy and well maintained. The neighbors had a few free range goats on their property that we ran into a few time but caused no problems. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!! There was only two of us but it could easily sleep 6, or more if you bring pads. Loved it!

The beach is widely varied with some black sandy area, small to huge rock stacks along the shore and out further with some natural arches, and the rocky point to the north has some interesting tide pools. My husband and I stayed for just over a week in August and enjoyed every minute of it. The view from the deck is perfect and is blocked by the wind, so it will get nice and warm. The house is decorated beautifully and is very comfortable. The bathroom was especially nice with the steam shower and towel warmer. The kitchen had everything we needed, but we did not do much cooking in the house. We enjoyed the small restaurants in the area. If you're up for a drive, breakfast at the Agness General Store is a must! I loved the flowers around the property. It isn't a long walk down to the beach, but you can't get their from the back yard, it's a short walk down the drive way. The neighbors are very kind and we enjoyed their goats as we drove by. Elk are in the area as well and we saw them often. If you're looking for a secluded spot with great views, this is the place for you! Just note, that there is no washer and dryer.

Looks like there used to be a path on property to the beach but appears it washed away, it is a cliff now, do not try it. Still not a big deal as the path via road then trail is nice, not too steep and only a few minutes walk. Beach is nice, only saw 2 other people whole week, great tidepools. Blackberries were great, saw elk, osprey, pelicans, lizards and no T-shirt shops.

Quiet, Stunning View. I gave only 4 stars because there was no washer or dryer and the kitchen was lacking. No washer or dryer in a house was a surprise to us. We rent in the area often for work and have never rented a home that didn't come with this basic necessity. Now I know to look for this possibility in the future. This area of Oregon has a lot of poison oak and we are avid hikers, so had to go to the laundromat in Gold Beach (15 minute drive) by day 3 of our trip. The kitchen has a lot of utensils and useful things in it, but is lacking in some of the basic necessities (like a tea kettle, functional wine key or pans not coated in torn Teflon). We boiled water in the one small stainless steel pan in the house for tea and coffee and cooked in the one large cast iron skillet for most of our meals. The rest of the house was great and I highly recommend this location for a quiet retreat.

My husband and I and our two daughters stayed for 7 nights in this beautiful home. We loved this secluded, quite house and the relaxation it provided. The view is breathtaking! In fact I set my alarm every morning so that I could wake up in time to see the sun begin to rise on the large rocks that are part of the ocean view. Magnificent! The house was beautiful and very comfortable. Our girls loved sharing the loft, and we enjoyed the space the master bedroom provided. Everything we needed for a full week in the house was provided with exception to the spices we would need to cook. The only spice in the house that we could find was salt. We purchased a couple of basics and left them for other renters to enjoy. I noticed on a previous review that the house did not have cable or satellite, but they must have added that recently because we did. The trail down to the beach is a little more than 5 minutes with kids, but easy enough to find and follow. There is one recommendation I will give to future renters; make sure you have good clearance on the vehicle you drive in with. We have a very low clearance car and scraped bottom in at least 3 spots on the dirt road every time we traveled it. That being said, we would rent this house again in a heartbeat. We had an amazing vacation and thank the owners for allowing us the privilege of staying in their home!

We learned that we were the first couple to rent this house. The positives: This rental property is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway. The house sits on 6 acres located about halfway between Gold Beach and Port Orford on a dirt road in a gated community (I use the word loosely, as there are only a handful of homes in the community, each separate by acres and acres of forest). The location of the home is absolutely stunning. From inside the living room of the house, the back balcony, or the yard, there is a magnificent view of the ocean, including nearby rock formations. The yard itself is a mix of lawn, garden and trees from which there is complete privacy. The nearest neighbor is about a 5-minute walk down the gravel road (from where one is able to access a trail to the beach). We enjoyed hanging out inside of the house as much as we did outside. Indeed, I personally spent many hours each day merely sitting in the yard reading, meditating, or napping! (Bring your own hammock, as we did; one is not included on the property.) The house itself consists of one bedroom with king-sized bed, one large bathroom with steam shower and claw-footed tub, kitchen, large living and dining room, and a loft (for children and extra guests). The house also has a double fireplace: one side in the living room; one side in the bedroom. The house is well appointed and cozy. As I mentioned, there is a trail down to the beach, which you can access adjacent to the nearest neighbor’s property (about a 5-minute walk). The trail cuts through tall grass and winds its way down to the rocky coastline. This is not a beach for sunning yourself; but for walking, playing with the dogs (yes, the rental is dog friendly), and beachcombing. You will need to learn the tides. At high tide, the access to portions of the beach, about ¼ mile in either direction gets cut off. At low tide, however, you can walk to Sisters State Park in one direction or to the mouth of a small river that winds its way to the ocean. Also, keep an eye out, while on the trail, for a small herd of elk! We saw them almost every evening. We also saw a sea otter each a fairly large fish on one of the rocks in the ocean. (Don’t pick the mussels that are available at low tide; not only is a permit required; but apparently there is a toxin warning all along the Oregon coast.) One final positive: as I mentioned the house is dog friendly. It also includes a dog bed, dog blankets, and dog toys.
