This thoughtfully furnished, cozy 1 bedroom house is an ideal love nest or quiet retreat for writers, artists, nature lovers, cyclists, a single person or those who love to be surrounded by quiet beauty. Located eleven miles from town in the Neck District, 1 mile from a firehouse and country store. This brand new old house has been completely renovated but retains its historic house charm. Sleeps 1 couple comfortably and also has a pull out love seat. No Pets, No smoking,
The base of 906 Hudson Road allowed us to indulge in some non-stop delights on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The house was a haven for us, comfortable, well equipped and in a quiet rural area close to Cambridge, with the benefit of a perfect breakfast spot just down the road. We visited Oxford, St Michaels, Tilghman Island and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, often concluding our day at a waterside seafood restaurant with delicious crab. Definitely a memorable stay that we hope to repeat in the future. Glad we found it!
I love this place. So cute and comfortable. Enjoyed it and would happily return!
We enjoyed a lovely stay at the cottage. The art, prints and overall design of this clean and cozy get-a-way are marvelous. The kitchen is well equipped. The bedroom has a comfy king size bed and linens. The water closet is a challenge because of its small size, yet the bathroom is well appointed with a huge tub and shower. Danny's Seafood on Ragged Point Road had the best soft shell crabs. Soft & Salty take out had the most decadent and delicious white chocolate, carmel and pretzel ice cream. We toured and hiked a bit in the Black Water National Wildlife Refuge spotting osprey, blue herons and white egrets. We plan to return in order to spot a bald eagle, and to tour the Harriet Tubman historical sights. Perhaps we will be back at the cottage in the winter. Such a terrific stay!
Great stay overall, the property was clean, the bed very comfortable, and relaxing place to stay. My only negative comment is that the bathroom, which is right next to the bedroom does not have a door. There are hinges, but no door. Bathrooms are meant to have doors. If you stay here a visit to Danny's Soft Crabs on Ragged Point Rd is a must.
We loved our stay here ... I hadn't researched the area and just fell in love with the house .... Advice ... Get into town before dark because we had to loop the road once to find the place but once we found it, we were good to go! The driveway is narrow so either back in or be prepared to do a few maneuvers to get out .... We took a jaunt up to St Michael's on our full day in MD and it was GORGEOUS! We walked and shopped and had amazing crab legs. We took a few detours on the way back and took the Oxford Bellevue Ferry just for kicks .... We came home, relaxed and went back out to downtown Cambridge for a few drinks. It was nice! We were back in by 11ish and I took a delightful bath and relaxed with some wine while my hubby watched some tv .... The only drawbacks were the sun comes in BRIGHTLY and EARLY in the upstairs bedroom. I think we were up by 7am both days and without my eye mask, I was not falling back to sleep so if you are in need of blackout darkness, bring an eye mask. The location was about a half hour from any sort of restaurant/night life and that was fine but you can not UberEats, DoorDash or anything else to the location either! One final thing that was weird was that there was NO door on the bathroom. I thought maybe the whole bathroom had a pocket door or something to designate it as a room but it didnt. The toilet was also in this room - although in its cute little alcove, and so if you enjoy privacy for going to the bathroom, you would be hard pressed. I am not prude about this at all but it was weird just being all open about things. All in all, we did enjoy this location and would definitely come back to spend another weekend of relaxing and enjoying each other :)
This was a very nice house in a great area.
Thought it was fine but would suggest that the owner reveal that there is a steep climb to the bedroom and to only bathroom. Also no space in kitchen cabinets to store our food and supplies for a five day stay. Way too much China and glassware and other kitchen stuff for just two people. Hot water continues to be a problem. We saw that mentioned in earlier review and we experienced it on our last two days . On a positive note, the bed linens were luxurious and the bed very comfortable.
The house is well furnished with interesting antiques and oriental rugs. It was also immaculately clean and well stocked which was greatly appreciated. The person in charge is Jackie who was wonderful to deal with when we had an issue with the WiFi. The neighborhood surrounding the house is not particularly charming but it didn't seem to detract from the overall experience.
Very nice and snug house - not exactly secluded but very quiet neighbors. The wood stove was great. Kitchen was really nice. The minor supplements (salt, pepper, oil, coffee and other staples were thankfully present. The hot water heater wasn't enough to fill the tub - This was the only drawback to the entire weekend.
Everything you need for a weekend getaway. All as described.
The house was lovely and quite cozy. The décor was exceptional. We very much enjoyed our stay. However, there was a terrible sewage smell in the kitchen which detracted from our stay. We reported it to the owner.
Cute renovated farmhouse is nicely furnished, well-stocked and comfortable. A great spot for a COVID-19 getaway! Explored downtown Cambridge, visited St. Michaels, hiked and biked Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, enjoyed crabs and clams! Plenty to do within driving distance and nice to come back to the house at the end of a busy day. Barbara was a great host. Accessible and responsive. We had a great stay!
Cute, clean, cozy, and comfortable! Well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our own meals, had clean towels and linens, comfortable couch for watching TV when we wanted to chill, and the bed was comfortable. Nice dead end street to walk along across from the house, and good location for exploring the area—wildlife refuge, Cambridge, Oxford, and St. Michael’s. Friendly neighbors, too. We’d stay here again!
The cottage was peaceful and a great place to escape to the beautiful Chesapeake shore. We enjoyed the place and would enjoy a return visit.
This was just a long weekend, close to home (thanks COVID). The house was a nice last minute find. Quiet street, friendly neighbors! Not much of a water view, because house is set back from the road. But it’s a great remodel of a very old farmhouse. Really enjoyed our stay!
The house was clean, quiet and spacious for my wife and I, exactly what we needed. One downside, there is not direct access to water. Barbara the host did arrange to visit her neighbors pier which was a nice added benefit. Overall, I would absolutely recommend.
