And suddenly (or not!), summer 2020, the COVID summer, is over - and we are excited for the rest of '20 and on to 2021!! Yes, we are sad that the pool is closed for the season (it will reopen on May 15, 2021 - it's unheated, so trust us, now wouldn't be a great time for it - but May will be!) - but we are excited for an amazing autumn in the Berkshires, then all that winter offers, and beyond.
After a fully booked summer, and bookings through November 2020, we are booking for the rest of autumn, winter and on to 2021. We are excited to see returning guests as well as new ones.
Our five bedroom, three bath, two fireplaces, and two large 'family' rooms are ready for you and your guests. The house is set up to accommodate 12 people, including children. There are plenty of games for the little ones. The swimming pool and the pool accessories makes the house a fun visit. Most importantly, Barry and Ruth are as helpful as any hosts might be. This is our second time at the property and we hope to return. Lovely.
Our group of 12 enjoyed our stay despite the rain and cold weather. The location is great, the setting is lovely, and the house accommodated all of us. It’s very comfortable and well equipped. It’s not fancy but it’s very welcoming. We curled up in front of the wood stove while the kids braved the pool despite the 40 degree weather. Our hosts were exceptionally helpful and made the whole process very easy. Thanks so much.
The highlights of this well-located property are its three beautiful acres, lovely in-ground pool with super-safe wrought-iron fence and chaises, Little Tykes playground (Cozy Couple, Turtle baby pool, slide), and all kinds of toys (croquet) and games (Trivial Pursuit) for adults.
We were looking for a large space to gather as a family and Ruth's home was more than we could have expected. Not only was the listing exactly as described, the warmth and love you feel when you enter made us feel like we had been coming here for years. We made so many great memories, and are looking forward to staying again. The proximity to Butternut was perfect, and easy to get to other amenities for anything you'd need. We had some young ones with us, and the outside space was perfect for them as well! Very very happy!
This house has bedrooms and bathrooms for a multi-family or multi-generational gathering as well as being stocked with so much of the fun family activities that don't need planning: the rec room is packed with board games, puzzles and activities; there are outside play toys for tots and young children and a pool (when the season is appropriate) for all. The property is large enough to let young ones roam a little and the location is great for access to hiking and skiing within a few minutes' drive and even found we were close enough to take a trail run from the house. Communication by the hosts was excellent. Thank you!
Awesome house with so many accommodations. Plenty of bedrooms and gear in the kitchen. Loved the wood stoves too! We stayed in the winter because the house was less than 10 minutes away from Butternut (ski) so couldn’t take advantage of the pool in the backyard but probably need to book again in a warmer month so we can. Great house. You won’t be sorry if you book this gem.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It's a few minutes outside of Great Barrington, making it convenient to get into town for shopping and dining, but it feels nice and secluded so you truly feel like you're getting away. Our kids enjoyed the space and having 2 family rooms was nice so the night owls and the early birds both had a space to use without bothering the others. Communication with the owners was great and they provide a very thorough book about the house and local attractions/dining options. They were very easy to work with. Our only complaint about the house was that the couches in the living room and the bed in the master suite are well past their prime and could use updating. We also found a few things not as clean as we had hoped for.
Wonderful home for a family ski weekend — and very close to Butternut! The great room with the wood stove is a wonderful place to relax after a day outside. We will definitely stay here again.
Rating as 5 stars because only because it doesn't go up to 10. We loved it. Our party was a multi generational family and there was space to fit everyone comfortably. This place has a lot of character and we appreciated that. We all skied butternut which is 6 minutes away, plenty close to come back for a hot lunch. The home is two units attached by a hallway so it was easy to put the kids to bed and continue having fun in the game room. The place has everything you need for cooking and dining, we were happily surprised that the owners offered so many great kids items - we had to pack in very little. Outside it was very cold and snowy during our stay so we enjoyed cuddling up around the wood burning stove. The owners were great to work with, incredibly responsive and thoughtful. The owners have laid out everything you need to know about the house and the surrounding area in great detail which made it so much easier for us traveling in. We'll be back!
We stayed here for a long weekend to ski at Butternut. We had a great time. The house is very close to the mountain (about 7-8 minute drive). The house is very clean, charming, and well-stocked. The great room is wonderful — nice big table for family meals and a wood stove that makes the whole room feel cozy. The hosts are *GREAT* helpful and communicative. We will definitely book here again!
We had a wonderful 3 nights here with family between Christmas and New Years. Our group ranged from 80 to 11 and the house suited us all. The pictures do NOT do this house justice! The house is way bigger and nicer than it appears. The house is very well equipped from the recently renovated kitchen with plates, pans, mugs, crock pot, and plenty of silverware, to the 3 full bathrooms all with soap and shampoo. There are two main floor bathroom (one perfect for my 80 year old father-in-law) and the other with two twins (both sharing a bathroom but the double room is connected). The upstairs two bedrooms both with double beds share a Jack and Jill bath. The bathrooms are very retro but very clean and functional - I loved them! The rear master is very private from the other rooms (separate stairs) and has a larger bathroom. We used both the living room and family/Rec room a lot - both are on the main floor which was great for my father-in-law with only one small step down into the family room. The boys all loved the PlayStation and everyone played pool a lot. The house is on a quiet street about 6 minutes from the main shopping area in Great Barrington. We also did the amazing Monument Mountain hike about 15 min away. Barry and Ruth could not have been nicer hosts. We had a slight issue with the WiFi but they were very responsive and to get it fixed very quickly. I can see why people all want to come back here!! We hope to come back again some day.
The house was just perfect for 3 generations. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and to be together as a family in two separate spaces (living room and rec room) as well as outside! Kids loved the pool table and the wood burning fire place. The 2,5 yr old loved the toddler play area and the girls had fun doing treasure hunts in the spacious land all around he house. The house was well-equipped and the owners even left us a couple of bottles of wine along with good directions for accessing anything we would need. A great getaway for a few days and I just booked it for the only days left in the summer during Tanglewood season.
It was the perfect Halloween home away from home for our group of five friends! In covid we just wanted a safe and cozy place to stay in the Berkshires for some hiking and hanging out by the fire, and this was the perfect spot. The home is very large and had a retro 80s decor vibe which was fun! It's very clean and the hosts were very responsive and gracious. We cooked almost every night and the kitchen is well-stocked. The home is on a well-marked road and very close to Stockbridge, Monument Mountain, the Hancock Shaker Village -- all the Berkshire destinations. We were sad to leave and actually said we wish we had thought to book for a whole week or two and had stayed out there to work remote (there was more than enough space). If you're looking for a clean, cozy, large, and well-located home in the Berkshires, this is your spot. If you're looking for more of a luxurious, instagrammable decor chic home, this might not be your spot.
Spacious grounds & accommodations. Two separate houses connected by a hallway. I forgot the correct room names but first house has family room with fireplace, pool table, sitting area, library, etc. Upstairs in master suite with jacuzzi bath. Hallway has full size washer & dryer for your use. Second house has 2 bedrooms down & 2 more up; bathrooms up & down stairs. Also spacious dining & living areas. Fireplace & walk through kitchen. Clean every where (dining room chandelier had some cob webs). Will be returning next summer to try out the pool.
I am so happy I went with Ruth & Barry's home. The home had EVERYTHING we needed including a pool table and lawn games. My guests and I enjoyed being able to go off into separate areas in the house if we needed space from the group or to just participate in a different activity. The house is about five minutes away from Great Barrington Center and very close to major routines to the other towns of the Berkshires. All of the guests keep talking about wanting to come back for the summer. The home included a very detailed guide and labels for how amenities function in the home. The only compliant I received was that there is was some dust and spiderwebs present in the home. Otherwise, the home was spotless with plenty of hand sanitizer, toiletries, and literally anything you can think of. SO much parking....I can't say enough. It was a glorious weekend and the home definitely was a huge part of that! Thank Ruth and Barry for contributing to an epic birthday weekend during this dreadful pandemic!
The house has everything we wanted in an autumn getaway. Beautiful property and close to close Great Barrington. Fully equipped with games, books, a pool table, (pool was closed - already too cold), enough space for everyone to be together and apart.
We have stayed in so many properties before but this one just took away our minds. We cannot thank much to the owners Ruth and Berry for sharing their house with us and responding promptly. Everything starting from toys, pool, kitchen, Dining room and bedrooms was worth a stay. The property has much more to offer than what we see in the photos. Thank you once again and we will visit again soon.
The home is lovely, just as pictured! And the hosts are accommodating and avail themselves when needed.
Ruth & Barry are extremely sweet and accommodating hosts with a beautiful property! The photos on this house do not fully do this property justice. It’s gorgeous with beautiful natural light and the views, cozy, spacious and was everything we could have asked for. The house had everything we could need and that made are trip completely stress free. The house is huge and the rooms have plenty of privacy. The yard, pool and fire pit were just what we needed! Six of us (late 20s-30s) stayed here with plenty of space and all of us fell in love with this charming home. We can not recommend this house enough! The location is perfect for hiking, shopping, eating and relaxing. We didn’t want to leave and want to come back!
Ruth and Barry's home is the perfect venue for a family vacation. Good family spaces. Lots of bedrooms. Beautiful yard, amazing swimming pool and very child friendly. Two wood stoves. Grill. And outdoor campfire.
This property made for a terrific multi-generational vacation. The property and the pool were very well-maintained and the house was spotless. It was incredibly well-equipped for children--including a portacrib, high chair, a toddler playground, riding toys, games, and books. And, given COVID limitations, it was a pleasure to find a well-equipped kitchen which made it so easy to prepare meals when we didn't want to do takeout. Another plus was generous supply of towels (and pool towels). We all had such a good time that we hope to stay at the house again next summer!
We had a wonderful time and Ruth and Barry’s well-appointed home. Our kids loved the pool and the fire pit and we appreciated all the small little details that made the house feel like a home. From beach towels, to raftWe are already planning or next trip back.
This home is perfect for families with young children - lots of space indoors and outdoors, a refreshing swimming pool, a toddler playground. The owners are easy to work with, very responsive, and have the house well-organized for their guests.
We had 7 of us in total for a cousins’ annual get together. The house was as described/shown to the details. We enjoyed the screened in porch, relaxing at the pool, and making s’mores at the fire pit. Owners were friendly, respectful, and went above and beyond to make sure they knew that they were approachable. Likely to book again.
We love it here! What could be bad, it’s the berkshires, there’s a pool and things to do for the whole family. Will be coming again next summer!
We had a wonderful stay - kids enjoyed the pool , outdoor space and screened in porch especially but entire place was great. Secluded but conveniently close to stores etc.(although we barely left the property because enjoyed the space so much) Owners very easy to communicate with - prompt and flexible.
House was clean and well set up for lots of people to hang out and to have plenty of space. Grounds were lovely and green and pool was great. It is very near to downtown Great Barrington and a bunch of restaurants as well as essentials like grocery store, drug store and book store.
We had a great time here. Kids loved the pool and the fire pit. Lots of room for all of us in the house and very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
This was my third stay. Two families, 4 adults and 5 children. This is a wonderful home folks, very spacious, clean and everything is well kept. Large private yard and an enormous pool. The home owners are quick to respond to any questions or concerns. I highly suggest this home for your next vacation. We will be back. Jon Black
We had a fantastic week in the Berkshires. After so many months stuck at home, there was plenty of room for us all to have our own space in this spacious home. We especially enjoyed all the hiking and nature walks and afternoons in the pool. If the house wasn’t already fully booked for the summer, we would have asked to extend our stay! Thank you!
Ruth and Barry have thought of everything anyone might need to have a totally fabulous time and there gorgeous home. The pool is fabulous. We practically lived between deck, lawn, and that perfect screened porch — even though the inside was great too. Town, with excellent coffee, bread, ice cream, Farmers’ market, is a short bike ride away. Thank you for everything (including forgiving us for what we lost)
It's been a hard time for all recently - we'd been isolating and needed to get out of NYC for some much needed rest and to finally let the kids run free. We found that peace at Ruth and Barry's - it just feels like home! The communication with R & B was beyond great - they were so helpful before & during our stay. The home was prepared exactly as we discussed and the property was well cared for and even more beautiful then in the pictures. We had everything we needed and then some!! We had a wonderful time - our boys even cried when we had to leave! Basically, if you read what the description says, you won't be disappointed - this is a well loved family home and a wonderful place to stay. R & B thank you again for helping us to make this important trip happen - we'll be forever appreciative. We'll be back soon!
Truly an amazing home, in a great area for hiking and fun. Ruth is an incredible home owner as well. Thank you!
We could not have been more pleased. A completely delightful experience.
Really enjoyed our time. The property is charming, inviting and it feels comfortable for relaxing. The proximity to amenities is great and at the same time you feel privacy. Ruth was a great communicator, sharing relevant updates and info. Recommended with two thumbs up
We enjoyed skiing at Butternut and staying in this contemporary home. The bedrooms were convenient for our variety of needs (two couples, three children and a grandmother) and the house was well-stocked and very pleasant . The kitchen is small, but very well-equipped and well laid out. The directions and instructions were detailed and very helpful. the hosts were super-nice and responsive. The first floor did tend to be cold at night. The woodstove helped, but by the middle of the night the downstairs bedrooms did get chilly. It was toasty warm upstairs!
Accessible to all great restaurants and most important it was near butternut
Ruth and Barry have a lovely and comfortable home with all the amenities for a relaxing family vacation. Clean and plentiful towels and linens. Comfortable beds. Working wood stoves and wood aplenty, Tons of games and a pool table. And close to local restaurants, shops and ski areas. We would certainly recommend and intend to rent this house again.
Hosts were easy to communicate with; house is comfortable and well-equipped!
A group of friends and I booked this home for a wedding at Ski Butternut. The home was clean and the owners had fabulous communication with us without intruding on the stay. There were 9 of us in the 5 bedroom 3 bath home and it was perfect. It had 2 living areas inside and plenty of entertainment items. It was very close to the center of town.
From beginning to end, our experience renting Ruth & Barry’s home was seamless and an exceptionally positive experience. There was something at the house for everyone in the family who ranged in age from 2 to 74: well-maintained swimming pool, outdoor playground having climbing structures & soft bedding underfoot, abundant lawn space, expansive outside deck, spacious living room & a separate family room with a pool table, games, & books. Ruth answered all our questions promptly before and during our stay. The location was convenient for hiking, shopping, and visiting a farmer’s market that included the freshest of produce, superbly delicious “fast” food made to order, crafts, and live music. Everyone agreed that we would be happy to return to their home again. We are tempted to make this an annual retreat.
Comfortable, spacious house that was perfect for a summer get-away. Kids (ages 8 and 11) loved the pool, the shelves stocked with puzzles/games, and the pool table. Kitchen and bedrooms were clean and well-appointed. We could lounge around the pool, cook dinner on the grill, and eat on the screened-in porch. Other evenings, it was a quick drive into the center of Great Barrington where there are a number of good restaurants and great ice cream at SoCo Creamery. The hosts communicate well and work hard to ensure that guests enjoy their stay. The property is also a good jumping off point for activities in the Berkshires, such as Bash Bish falls hiking, Tanglewood, Hancock Shaker Village, and more!
Three brothers who grew up in Amherst going to Tanglewood are now, well, kind of old, and they wanted to gather for something other than weddings/funerals, with spouses & a few grown kids (not all of them). This house with its 5 bedrooms and fantastic common areas, pool, screened porch and huge grill AND not far (thru back roads) to Tanglewood, was ideal. We didn't use any of the 30 or 40 games or puzzles or children's toys/playground but loved the up to date kitchen, living room and everything we needed to make meals for many. A very short drive to a fantastic farm stand (Taft) and an excellent looseleaf notebook with all kinds of information made it even better. Thank you so much for giving us this great time together.
My family ages 7-55 loved. Your home renting was easy Hope to return next year Will book as soon as we clear Calendars
The home was wonderful! Beautiful, yet comfortable. The pool, yard, pool table, games, firepit, were all fantastic for our large family. Everything you could need was readily available. Great location to access area attractions.
Fabulous weekend getaway for our group of three families! The house has all the necessary amenities plus pool toys and toys for the toddlers. We plan on visiting again next summer!
We had a great stay here. The owners are friendly and helpful. The house is very nice and well equipped. Met all of our need quite nicely. It is tucked away and private, but very close to town. Definitely would stay there again!
This property is so comfortable and picturesque. The house embraced our family and provided a relaxing spot to enjoy each other’s company. The pool was great and the house is stocked w/ anything you could possibly need and a detailed folder w/all the info about the property and area. In addition, communication w/Ruth and Barry was a pleasure. They reflect the warm, inviting essence of the home. We can’t speak to all that Great Barrington has to offer because we didn’t do too much exploring.
The hosts were very communicative and accommodating. They made the process very easy. The home had plenty of space for two families. The pool was a great bonus on those hot summer days.
Ruth and Barry were very attentive and have a wonderful home. Our group of 10 fit comfortably and enjoyed a lot of time poolside. The town also has a few nice restaurants to enjoy. Thank you again!
My Wife and I spent President’s weekend at the house with our grown children and grandchildren. The home was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The homeowners house guide made it easy to understand how all the home mechanics worked and also gave recommendations to local eateries and attractions. It’s proximity to town and Butternut Mountain ( it was a ski weekend) was a real plus. We happily recommend a stay at this comfy and clean home. Rob S.
This home worked out perfectly for 3 families with 6 adults and 5 kids. Plenty of room and 2 separate family rooms/living rooms to separate kids and adults. Pool table got plenty of use. Nothing fancy but had everything we needed. Nice location nearby to Great Barrington and Stockbridge and close enough to Pittsfield for movies and tennis. Ruth was great to work with.
The house is super cool and full of interesting posters and books. The bedrooms have a cozy cabin vibe and the main room is spacious and full of natural light. Everything was clean and the hosts were extremely accommodating, just as they were last year. I hope to return yet again! Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Great Barrington area both in the summer or winter.
Our group of 11 had a wonderful summer stay- a great jumping off point to explore the area. The house was clean and really well-stocked, they thought of everything from picnic supplies to beach towels. The house set-up, almost like it has 2 wings, allowed the kids to hang out at one end in the play room while the adults could relax at the other. The pool was a treat, despite the rain- the owners had plenty of floaties on hand, too. The screened in porch was clutch, as the damp weather meant the mosquitos were out in full force! Ruth was very responsive and patient with questions, and they welcomed us with a lovely basket with some guides to the area and WINE! Would highly recommend this home away from home if you are in the Berkshires area, no matter the season.
We wanted to spend some time in the Berkshires with our adult children to celebrate my husband's birthday and this place was the perfect spot! The house provided a comfortable, spacious, well stocked place for us to enjoy our family in the Berkshires. It was exactly as described so no surprises which is always good. The house is well located near the town and not far from all the places you want to go to when in the Berkshires. The best recommendation I can provide is that we would go back!
The home was clean, roomy, and provided an intimate get a way for our annual group gathering.
Owners are extremely organized. They thought of everything. House was perfect. We had 4 couples and we all had a great time! Highly recommended in every way! Thanks again!
Absolutely perfect house for a group to get together. Owners communicate extremely well with tenants throughout the stay. Slept ten adults very comfortably. Will definitely return!
Ruth and Barry's place was clean, bright open and very well appointed. We stayed between Christmas and New Years with five teenagers and there was lots of room for everyone to relax and play. Close to town and skiing. Only drawback was the electric stove and lack of counter space in the kitchen which made it a little challenging to prepare large meals but not enough to keep us from coming back! Can't wait to stay in the warm weather and enjoy the deck, BBQ and pool!
We had a wonderful family vacation in this warm, cozy and beautifully artistic 5 bedroom home located right outside of Great Barrington center. We stayed during the Thanksgiving weekend and completely enjoyed the comforts of this unique and inviting house with our family of 8. Our hostess Ruth was as welcoming as could be and completely accommodating to our extra needs for Thanksgiving meal preparations. The house was as lovely and filled with special touches as described and promised by the owners. We all agree that it was one of our most favorite Berkshire vacation rentals of all, and that we would surely love to return again!
This house was better than we could have asked for. It was quirky and tasteful, with some cabin-like touches and a beautiful open living room with lots of natural light. We had a truly wonderful time cooking big meals with close friends and everything we wanted access to (climbing, hiking, shopping) was close by. Ruth was a pleasure to communicate with and always responded promptly. She and her husband even left a kind welcome gift for us. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking in the Great Barrington area!
Well maintained, spacious, close to everything. Owner's were wonderful to work with. Highly suggest this property
Recently stayed for a long holiday weekend with one other family. The house was comfortable for 10 people. Nice big yard for the kids. They loved the pool table. It was too cold for the pool but the space is awesome. Everything was well stocked. Excellent hosts. Nice location.
The hosts have thought of absolutely everything. We were 7 (extended family) and 9 on the weekend and there was space and enough privacy for everyone. Conveniently located 1.5 miles from town, it is quiet and secluded. Fabulous porch. Everything works, everything is comfortable. Kids got out of the pool only to play pool.
We enjoyed a wonderful family 'reunion' weekend with our 4 adult children in their 20's and 30's. Ruth and Barry's home was spacious and comfy, inside and out. Plenty of bedrooms for everyone and nice common space, too. We enjoyed hiking every morning on nearby hiking trails, went to a summer stock performance at a local theater, enjoyed the fabulous Norman Rockwell museum (and free concert), as well as relaxing at the pool. We enjoyed using the barbecue grill and eating together on the deck. The house is located close to many restaurants and a myriad of places to discover and revisit in the Berkshires! The owners were very attentive and accommodating, and provided detailed information about the house and the area. In sum, it was a wonderful weekend that our family will remember for many years to come!
I choose 3 Squaw Peak Road as a place where my teenage grandchildren could enjoy themselves while my daughter from England was able to visit with family and friends. The pool was enjoyed by the grandchildren while the adults enjoyed the spacious living room and deck. Everything we needed to prepare our own meals was available and everyone had their bedroom. All which made for a fantastic time together.
The house was great with plenty of room for our family reunion. The location was convenient to many attractions and very easy to get too. The house was so well organized and had everything we needed for cooking, grilling, games, swimming and relaxing. The outdoor deck and screened in porch with large table were favorite spots. I hope we can return next year!
We visited this property for our first family getaway since my kids have all graduated college and we truly enjoyed our stay there. The home is spacious and accommodated my four adult children, their significant others and myself and my boyfriend with 5 real bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The pool table in one of the family rooms provided hours of fun on the one rainy day we had. And the in-ground pool was great o the sunny days! We had a wonderful family dinner out on the screened in porch after grilling on their state of the art grill ... and a relaxing brunch on the deck in the shade one morning. The property is beautiful and well maintained and is just 2 miles north of the town of Great Barrington. I highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a getaway in the Berkshires with a large group!
This is a house that is obviously cherished by the family who owns it and holds many wonderful memories for them. I am happy they gave our family the opportunity for a fun and relaxing time making our own good time memories. The house is spacious and has plenty of places for family activities. We had dinner on the peaceful deck under the trees, lunch on the screened-in porch, puzzled and played games on the dining room table, and swam in the pool every day. We played a few games of pool and watched television and movies together in the family room. The yard is private and beautifully landscaped. Grocery stores, farm stands, and restaurants all close by. We had everything we needed for a truly enjoyable vacation. We are hoping to return to the Berkshire home again next year! The Giza Family
