WHY STAY IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD? Safety, No Crime! Arabi is in St. Bernard Parish (County). Arabi has a superior law enforcement that does not tolerate crime. When you stay in Arabi, you can go enjoy all of the fun things that New Orleans has to offer, but you return to sleep in Arabi without any worries of someone breaking into your house or car. Also, you can safely walk the streets at night in this neighborhood. Don't take a chance. Have a crime free vacation by staying at this house!
This is a beautifully restored four bedroom single home. It is 3 miles (10 minutes) from the French Quarter in the safest neighborhood in the city. The house has 12 foot ceilings. There are 3 full baths. This house has all of the character of an old New Orleans home. I have Wifi, a complete kitchen and a large yard that has newly built pergola with a patio set. From the house, it is nice to watch cruise ships, river boats and other vessels traveling on the Mississippi River. Also, there is off street parking. This is the safest area in the city! Unlike New Orleans, we have plenty of police in Arabi and they do not tolerate any riff-raft coming here to commit crimes. Arabi is in St.Bernard Parish(county). My wife and I love New Orleans. We have our favorite restaurants and places to go in New Orleans, but we love coming back to our house in St. Bernard Parish to safely sleep at night with peace of mind.

7 of us travelled for a conference and this home was perfect. Lots of space and a really cool little bar at the end of the street. Plenty of dishes to cook for our group and laundry machines are a great bonus feature. Only suggestion is the king master with the bathroom the bed is sloped to one side so made that couple sleep a bit tricky, not sure if it was the floor or bed that was the issue. Overall a great stay and we would recommend this house for both business or families.
We enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is comfortable and quiet. A number of close small community bars and places to eat. The owner was very attentive and great to deal with. When we arrived the A/C was not working. Messaged the owner and had a reply in less than 5 minutes. Repair man was there early the next morning and got it fixed. This is an old home in and old community. We loved the charm while enjoying the upgrades that made the stay very enjoyable. We'd definitely stay here again. Plenty of space for the 6 adults in our group.
Was very nice to stay here after the business of French Quarter. Rooms were big. Fun with family.
We were born and raised in this area. This property was everything we needed to feel right at home. It is walking distance to the river so you can go experience the view or go for a run along the levee. The house had everything we needed and was very spacious. The yard was great and our daughter could play and ride her scooter. We had a good time visiting for the holidays and would definitely stay again. Thanks again Mr. Larry for the quick response on our questions and for helping.
Lots of room to spread out and close to downtown. We enjoyed the stay even with some of the rainy weather.
Very nice place location is good.
The house worked well for our family. The neighborhood was safe. 25 minutes to Bourbon Street. However, there were numerous businesses much closer. As with most people, we ran out of time....so we may have to come back
Nice house. Easy Uber ride to French Quarters. Would recommend.
House was large enough for our family, 6 adults 2 children. Great location to French Quarter and other tourists attractions.
Some friends and I stayed in the home for a quick weekend getaway. The home was clean and in a quiet neighborhood. We loved the outside area with the table and chairs. Beds were very comfy. There location was great! We were less than 20 min away from everything! We enjoyed a parade and the entire French quarter! On the day of our departure it was forecasted to storm really bad. We reached out to Larry and he was very understanding and allowed us to stay a few hours after our original check out time to make sure it was safe. I would definitely recommend this home for your stay!
Larry was so easy to communicate with! We exchanged emails a few times and the day of our stay I text him and he called me within just a few minutes woth the info I needed. There were 7 ladies staying at this location and feeling safe while we were away was a priority and this location provided! The house is so charming with high ceilings and what appears to be original wood floors. Not to mention exposed brick walls in some areas of the home. So cute! The neighborhood was quiet and lovely. The neighbor who lives directly across the street saw us heading out one morning and called us over to let us know that there was a festival just a few blocks over. So precious! We had a couple of vehicles and Larry let us open the gates to park. It was nice to have our vehicles off the street and behind a gate. We used Uber or Lyft all weekend and on average it only cost us $13 or $14 to get anywhere. The rooms were all pretty spacious and comfy with nice bathrooms. The kitchen seemed nice and modern, although we didn't cook or eat at the house at all 😅. I read a couple of reviews that mentioned the locks being a concern. The lock on the side door was a bit strange and took a bit of getting used to. It's a key code lock that locks from inside automatically and theres no deadbolt. The first night we did have one girl stay outside a minute to make sure it locked, just because we couldn't trust it from the inside and being that there was no deadbolt it did leave us feeling uneasy. BUT we quickly realized how it worked and never had an issue. There is a nice size yard, a little covered sitting area, and a bbq grill. This would make such a nice location for any event! Especially a family getaway with kiddos. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who will be in the New Orleans area! Don't skip it!
The property was perfect for my large family. It was just far enough from the French Quarter to get some peace but close enough to drive with no issues. The property was very clean. The lock was a little strange on the front door but other than that, it was a perfect stay.
This was perfect for our small group of friends! We spent most of our time out and about. If you like older style houses with character this is great! I felt like I was in New Orleans. Had everything we needed for when we did spend time at the house.
Everything was just right about the house and neighborhood. Just 3-4 blocks from the River and you can walk on the levee to see the old Jackson Barracks north of the levee. Good neighborhood and close to Old Arabi Bar (worth a visit) and the Old Arabi Food Store and Cafe. Food at the Cafe is great and we ate breakfast there most days. Next street over to the west from the house is especially picturesque and a lovely walk. The house is well laid out and very comfortable with a very nice yard and gazebo with outdoor seating. We would definitely stay there again.
The stay was very nice. Beautiful house better than the photos. Nice spacious yard. We had everything we needed. 6 of us stayed in this house. The only thing that was a little uncomfortable for me and others would be the locks on the doors needs to be fixed.
Our group enjoyed our stay in this cute little house... we has plenty of room for all 7 of us and we were in a great location for our conference and all the sightseeing we wanted to do!
House was wonderful, check in process was easy and neighborhood was save. Even made friends down the street st the local bar! Definitely recommend!
We were a total of 8 couples and the house was beautiful and huge. It was very clean and well furnished. It gave us the feel of NOLA and we enjoyed every minute of it. Very close to French quarters approximately a 10 minute drive. Larry was always available and answers me promptly every time I had a question. Will definitely stay again when we visit NOLA.
The location was perfect. The house was big enough and accommodated all of our needs. Mr. Landry was very responsive with each contact. This Was my 2nd trip to New Orleans and I hope that my next stay is in a property managed by Mr. Landry. If you’re looking for a great location near nightlife, this is a great choice. Quiet neighborhood and Uber rides weren’t too bad!
The home was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Would use again in the future.
First this location is in the 9th ward. Although regendrication is underway it's not where it needs to be yet. I wouldn't recommend staying in this area. The house is unsafe. Upon entering the stoop us not attached to the house and is wobbly, we almost fell. Decor is a hodgepodge of want to be 1900s Victorian meets early 2000s which is all filthy. You can visibly see the dirt on the curtains and area rugs. Just an overall dingy, raggedy feel - the photographer worked wonders with what they had. All doors and windows need to be replaced. We put chairs under the door knobs at night as a averaged sized man could easily kick in the door with little effort. None of the doors had a bolt lock and you could literally see straight through cracks in both. The white towels were so stained that some of them looked like a grey/brown color. We ended up purchasing some from Walmart to use. The bed linens had 'suspect' stains and hair. They obviously hadn't been washed. We ended up washing and bleaching the sheets and bedspreads in hot water. Thank goodness the house had a washing machine and dryer. In the bedroom with the ensuite you could see through the slats and feel air coming through the hardwood floors by the bed. One of my friends also felt a nail. The window in one of the other bedrooms had a crack in it for some reason and we couldn't get it to close. The refrigerator started leaking ALOT, and flooded the kitchen floor. We couldn't use it as water was standing on all the shelves inside. The only nice part of the house are the bathrooms - they've been redone. I sent numerous email and text messages to the owner with no response. I finally found his phone number and called him. He was just basically rude and told me he'd never had a problem before, which was an irrelevant statement. He said he'd send someone out to wash the linens. The towels and sheets need to be burned, but we'd been traveling all day so we went ahead and did that ourselves since that's all he offered. When the refrigerator started leaking it was early evening and I sent a SOS message to him to send someone to fix it, I got no response until the next day late. So the ending to this story is VRBO came to save the day and moved us into three hotel rooms. There's no way we could have stayed there. We toughed it out the first night because we had too. Not sure about the other positive reviews, maybe they are old, IDK. You get what you pay for - stay in the French quarter.
Good location home accommodated me and all my friends we enjoyed ourselves
Home is located about 15 minutes to all the areas we wanted to visit during our stay. The home was clean and spacious. Can't wait to return again.
Gotta tell you, the property we picked while visiting NOLA was great. Large rooms, plenty of general space, comfortable bedding and 3 bath/showers (it was a home run for 5, 60+ men celebrating a special time in our lives, (a return from Vietnam). Additionally we attended the VETERANS DAY PARADE IN ST BERNARDS PARASH, and what a parade,we were captured in the local newspaper and on FOX TV. The property owner Larry permitted early arrival & extended late departure as needed (he even gave us aMuffalotto from the family restaurant. Hu-Rah Larry (ex Navy). Go ARMY beat NAVY in the annual classic..................Chas
The property had every amenity required! I would definitely recommend staying here!
House was beautiful and clean. Owner was very accommodating. Beds were hard, in two front bedrooms. I assume they were new but not very comfortable due to hardness. If you like hard bed these are the rooms for you. However the house was clean and had the amenities needed for a great stay.
We had a great stay at this home, we had a minor problem and management came and fixed the issue. Thanks for letting us use your home for our family vacation.
Had a great time at the house. Very quiet neighborhood and safe. The house has a lot to offer. The only negative was there no closest in the bedrooms and the grass needed to be cut which limited us from enjoying the outdoor air. would rent again
Myself along with 7 other friends, stayed in this home over the weekend for the Essence Festival. Everyone was pleased with this house. It's clean, cozy, spacious and is close to the French Quarter. We had a minor issue but the owner, Larry came out and fixed it immediately. He is friendly, professional, and easy to communicate with. We plan to book this place for next year.
I enjoyed my stay at this house. The house looks the same as the pictures. The house was clean and spacious for a family of 8. We were allowed to check in early and check out late. Larry will work with you if need be.
We enjoyed our stay at this house. It would have been even better if the lawn had been mowed. We wanted the kids to be able to play outside, but the yard was overgrown. The house is great place to get away and enjoy family.
Everyone in our job marveled st what a lucky find this house was. We were in NO for a graduation and wanted the family to stay all together. The high-ceiling rooms, old wood floors and walls, and huge doors made you feel like you were in olden times. But loved the modern kitchen and tiled bathrooms. Great location and very quiet neighborhood. Felt safe.
This home is fantastic, clean, and a wonderful location. We will stay here again next year! The owner is wonderful too! Loved it!
OK, let me start by saying Larry is an excellent owner with whom to work. His response to inquiry were always super fast and he was very friendly. He was delightful. The house itself is everything the photos show. Important things to know about the house that we must have missed in the description: Neither stand alone bedroom (2) have closets. The only thing we had to hang clothes on was a hook on the back of the door. It was highly inconvenient. Neither of those bedrooms had waste baskets in them so every time I needed to throw anything away, we had to either go to the restroom in the hall or go to the kitchen. Not super convenient when you're changing cloths or sharing thehouse with other couples. Also, there were no spare blankets in thehouse anywhere (that we could find) so if you got cold in the night, you're out of luck. You have to make sure with the thin sheet and thin bedspread that was on the beds. I would urge you not to let these minor things distract you from booking this property. The house was VERY clean when we got there. The rooms are big and quite comfortable. There is plenty of natural light due to the windows. The patio are is quite perfect for coffee and breakfast in the morning. The kitchen has plenty of dishes that allow for your cooking needs. While the neighborhood looks a bit sketchy getting TO the house, you find that the neighborhood is not a problem at all. The street is quiet and well-maintained at at no time did we not feel safe. Do not let the drive getting there leave you apprehensive. If you are looking for a house CLOSE to the French Quarter without the chaos of the French Quater, this is your house. There is everything you need in the area, gas stations, quicky marts, grocery stores, Dunkin Donuts (for real coffee), etc. Perhaps the best part is the list of To Dos as you take your leave is so short and quite simple to get done. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone traveling to the area.
Came in to town with some friends for the NOLA Marathon in early March....house was perfect for our group. Nice big comfy rooms for everyone and were able to have our little one sleeping while the adults still hung out in the living room/kitchen. Used the kitchen one night to make a big pasta dinner for everyone and it was more than up to the challenge. Neighborhood is solid and friendly and pretty chill....we spent a fair amount of time in the French Quarter too which was on average was a 20 minute drive (due to traffic) and very easy to navigate. At the top of the street was a brand new market (Canseco's) that had anything you could need for food, toiletries, etc (and local brews). Also, the patio is perfect! After the race all the adults hung out together on the patio soaking up the sun and sharing beers and stories and just relaxing...it was my favorite aspect of the property. If I find myself back in the big easy I will be looking to book again...great house!
We had a good experience in the house. It was a perfect house of imperfections that gave it the NOLA feel we were hoping for. Larry was very good at communicating and responding very quickly. We had no issues with anyone bothering us... well sort of (other worldly beings maybe?!?!). I stayed in the very back room which seemed like the master. It was very quiet and I slept pleasantly, but the bed was a little firm then I like so that's just a personal preference. My bestfriend slept in the room next to us the only one that has a queen bed and a very big bathroom. Then my brother and his wife slept in the room in the very front of the house. The middle room closest to the living room wasn't occupied because that friend ended up not coming. The first night we were there my brother and his wife kept hearing knocking on their door. They thought we were playing a trick on them, but they waited at the door for the knock and opened it immediately and nobody was there. Then they turned on the bathroom light to see if they could see someone by the door once they closed their door, but they saw nothing but kept hearing the knocking and someone lightly walking around down the hall. Then my bestfriend said she plugged her phone in and then her phone while on the charger got tossed off the nightstand. I got up the next day to see if my brother was awake. That is when I seen the non-occupied room had one side of the covers moved and then indentation of someone laid on the pillow except the sheets weren't messed up nor looked like anyone laid in the bed. Everyone said they never went into that room. My brother and his wife continued to hear the knocking and walking every night the 3 nights we stayed there. Very odd happenings while there that we can't explain. But me personally I felt nothing and heard nothing in my back room. Perfect distance from NOLA's French Quarters. Uber and Lyft to the French Quarters were 17 dollars. Take a Taxi on the way back because Uber and Lyft charge a surcharge while in the French Quarters so on the way back they charge 37-40 dollars, but a Taxi is only 22-25 dollars if you get stuck at the bridge might be less if you don't get stuck at the bridge. Even with the odd happenings we would stay there again we enjoyed our time and the house.
I loved the house. It was exactly what I was looking for. Quiet neighborhood, close to everything, clean, and very charming. Loved the floors and the furniture. Larry was awesome and even let us do early check in. I felt right at home. Will rent again! 3
We really enjoyed our stay at this house over the weekend. Great parking. Great access to a main road. Clean. Great!!!
I was nervous at first because it looked too good to be true from the pictures. Surprisingly it was just like the pictures! Would stay there again and I highly recommend!
We thought the house was spacious, clean, and nicely updated. The beds were very comfortable, and the open layout accommodated our family well. Plenty of clean linens and dishes for the seven of us. The owner provided soap, dish towels, laundry detergent, and paper towels. The off-street parking was very nice for our two vehicles. The keyless door entry was also convenient for different arrivals and departures, and we did not have to keep up with keys! The wifi worked great for all of our devices. Our party of seven had difficulty with the amount of hot water available for showers. Only two quick showers could be taken at a time, and anyone else either took a cold shower or had to wait until the evening or night. The back bedroom, which appeared to be a more recent addition to the house, had cracks in the flooring that allowed you to see the ground, and drafts came through the cracks. We did have issues getting the thermostat comfortable for a few bedrooms. We stayed when it was in the 30s at night, so we had the heat on - set around 68. The two side bedrooms would heat up to 85 degrees or higher if the doors were shut at night, causing us to sleep with the bedroom doors open. Overall, we were pleased with the house and would consider it for future stays with a party this size.
The property is well maintained and is located close to the French Quarter and most of the usual tourist attractions. You can feel like are in a safe suburban like community but close to the City. All of the seven family had a memorable experience.
Mr. Larry was very easy to work with. The house was a clean, very nice home In a nice area. Also a block away from the Mississippi - was neat to watch the Big boats come thru. Would stay here again.
Great house great location
Thank you for renting out your house to us we had a great time and we love your beautiful home
I've stayed with Larry twice. He's got a wonderful house in a quiet area with close proximity to the French Quarter. You can get Uber / Lyft pick-up here. Also the inside is beautiful with high ceilings and an open floor plan. Highly recommend and when I return to NOLA I will be staying here again.
This property is very nice. we stayed there for 5 nights. I would recommend to stay here when we have a chance to come back Houston
THE HOUSE WAS VERY NICE( NO CLOSETS IN BEDROOMS ) THIS WAS A BIT ODD TWO OF THE BEDROOM HAD CLOSETS IN THE BATHROOM OR DRAWERS TO PUT CLOTHS, BUT NO BIG DEAL,UPON ARRIVAL WE MET LARRY WHO WAS A VERY NICE PERSON, AND WAS HELPFUL IN SPITE OF THE LAST PERSONS TO VISIT HIS HOME LEFT WITH THE TV'S FROM TWO OF THE BEDROOMS AND THE POWER CORD FROM ANOTHER. THE TV IN THE LIVING ROOM WAS LARGE AND WE JUST MADE DO. AND THE TV IN THE MASTER WAS FINE, WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THE HOME DUE TO EXTREMELY BAD WEATHER. GOOD VALUE FOR OUR MONEY , WOULD CONSIDER RENTING AGAIN WHEN IN THE BIG EASY.THE PROPERTY WAS CLEAN AND MAINTAINED.
Our group was in New Orleans for the Ironman 70.3 race and this house was perfect! The house was beautiful, had plenty of room, and the off street parking was great.
I really liked that the house was easily accessible from start. The house was very clean at time of arrival. It is a 15 minute drive to the french quarter when you don't have to wait for the bridge, you can add another 10 minutes if the bridge is up. The neighborhood is nice however leaving the main street it starts getting a little rough but overall I felt safe. There was sand right in front of the house that was kind of annoying because there was not way of going around it but it seems like there is construction going on so it might not be there forever. I definitely would stay there again if visiting in a big group.
Property was very nice. Larry the Owner was easy to deal with and did try accommodate our requests. The only issues we had was on arrival, the bathrooms, rugs, towels, sheets were not clean. We washed everything and re made the beds, washed all the dishes, etc. not the way we wanted to start our vacation however, once all completed, we thoroughly enjoyed the property!
Beautiful home in the French Quarter of New Orleans! Rented the home for our wedding weekend and it was absolutely perfect! Plenty of room with three bathrooms and large rooms with large beds. Owner is personable and easy to talk to. Enjoyed our stay!
After this experience, I doubt I will stay in a hote again when visiting New Orleans. Booking with the owner was very easy. I never met him face to face. We communicated by phone and email. The house and accomodations are exactly as described an pictured. The beds are very comfortable. The shower in the queen bed room is huge. You are very close to the French Quarters. It took us less than 10 minutes to drive there. You will not be disappointed if you choose this house gor your lodging needs. We were a group of 5 and we all had enough room for privacy and togetherness. The yard is well maintained and there is plenty off street parking. This is a quiet neighborhood. While driving around the neighborhood, we noticed several police cars parked at homes so we felt safe staying in an area where police officers are living.
The house and grounds were amazing. The house provide an intelligent mix of modern flare and good ole' NOLA charm. It was conveniently located and easy to find. I would recommend to any one.
This house had great charm! It worked out perfectly for the purpose we rented for. We had vehicles to get us into downtown New Orleans but a quick and cheap Uber would work fine as well. I would recommend this place. Larry the owner was very friendly and overall fair and honest.
The house is very nice and has a ton of space. Not far from French Quarter. Larry was easy to work with as well. Would recommend for a big group.
