Great time. We met my brother in law and his two boys there for a weekend get away at Christmas time. I took my son and nephews trout fishing while my wife , mother in law and brother in law hung out at house. The kitchen was equipped with all essential for cooking and baking. The home was also decorated with a Christmas tree and outside light. We will definitely stay there again.
Peaceful location, comfortable house with great hiking nearby
Nice stay in the country. Great property management!
We enjoyed the quietness & relaxation. Bonita met us upon arrival & was easy to contact when needed. She had brownies on the table when we walked in. Yummy! Nice place to stay when wanting to get away for quiet time.
The Granny Branch Inn is a quiet and peaceful respite from the world. The only noises are cows, horses, and an occasional car. We brought our dogs and they enjoyed the fenced back yard while we sat on the back porch. Brownies were waiting for us on arrival.
This property was a very nice place to stay in the country. It is remote and access is windy country roads but it has good access to surrounding areas. The owner is very accommodating and welcoming. The home is clean and provides all necessary amenities. I would stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house situated in beautiful countryside and is perfect for an escape away from it all.
weather less so for our guys motorcycle outing. House is in a great location to get to lots of riding spots.
We enjoyed staying at the Granny Branch Inn and being centrally located to Grayson Highlands State Park and the Natural Bridge in Virginia as well as Boone, Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. Everything About this place is wonderful from Bonita and Gary welcoming us when we arrived to the hummingbirds visiting us on the porch. The place was spotless and the brownies were delicious. I look forward to coming back with my friends and family.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the lovely sunsets.
The property is quiet and relaxing with excellent beds, comfy chairs, a well equipped kitchen, and stunning views. It is conveniently located to attractions in the area. My only critique is that the internet, while present, is very weak.
Bonita's place was perfect for a peaceful retreat. I spent the weekend hiking in Grayson Highlands and this quite home was the perfect plact to return to each evening with great outside seating areas to watch the cows and horses at night.
The house was very clean and we had a great time. Brownies were awesome!!!!
Staying at The Granny Branch Inn was such a delight! Bonita and Gary were receptive and responsive from the beginning until the end. The home is off the beaten path and is very peaceful which is perfect for a nice weekend getaway. A short drive away is Rural Retreat which has all your basic needs and if you need more sights and sounds there is plenty to do a little further up the road. Don't forget to say hello to Cooter the friendly neighborhood dog!
Comfortable and cozy. Was great having the fenced in area for our dog Levi as house is fairly close to the road.
Bonita and her husband were very friendly and accommodating. The house was clean with several amenities and a perfect place to stay if you have a family. We loved the front porch and the little dog Cooter that would visit. Everything was there that we needed. The only thing we found to be difficult was the drive to get to town. Road very curvy and best not be traveled at night. But we enjoyed our stay and the tranquility that this place offered.
What a great place to stay, the attention to detail that Bonita gives is unbelievable. Brownies were waiting on the table for us upon our arrival. She supplies many of the things that you need to bring yourself. I have stayed at many VBRO places that are very nice, but Bonita does take it another level higher. The neighbors are just a treasure to talk to and very informative about the area. I look forward to staying again in the future!!!
Very hospitable,well equipped, friendly
Granny Branch Inn is a very relaxing comfortable place to stay. Close to hiking, fishing and hunting. Grayson Highland StatePark and Mount Rogers 50 minutes. Surrounded by a beautiful valley.
Hosts were very responsive and welcoming! Home met our needs well. Peaceful quiet retreat with friendly neighbors. True southern hospitality. Lack of cell service our only concern.
We loved the host and the property. Sometimes we would sit on the front porch with our homemade brownies that were waiting on us when we arrived. People passing by would throw up a hand to wave and some would toot their horn to say hi. Very pleasant.
We spent 4 nights in this beautiful setting. We loved everything about it. If you just want a place to kick back and take it easy, look no further. We hope to come back soon.
Granny Branch was just what we were looking for! Wonderful stay!
Great amenities with a lot of country and lightening bugs included. Quiet and relaxing and felt like a home away from home. My kids and dog enjoyed the space. The family games as a winding down entertainment option was a really nice touch. Our family is excited to return to to Granny's Branch next visit!
My friends and I were looking for a place close to Damascus for Trail Days and to Ride the Virginia Creeper trail. What a wonderful place to stay! 4 beds, 2 bathrooms, fenced in yard (we didn't bring pets) with awesome views on the ride in. I don't have the vocabulary to say how great this place is! I didn't get a chance to meet the owner (wished I could have) but there was a tray of brownies on the table when we arrived
Nice clean home close to trout fishing streams. The house was roomy and clean and comfortable. It worked well for 3 adults, however, the bathroom on the second floor can only be accessed by going thru two bedrooms which worked ok for us but might be an inconvenience for some. There is also a bathroom on the first floor. The owner met us at check-in and showed us the house which was nice. She also provided a tray of fresh brownies which were delicious and an unexpected treat.
We had a great stay! The house is cozy and was very clean. Kitchen stocked with everything we needed for family meals. Only downside was the WiFi which was inconsistent for us. Weak to no signal all week. We also didn’t have cell service in the valley, so were forced to be unplugged most of the week. The owners brought us a land line for emergencies but be aware that Verizon (our cell carrier) didn’t work for us at the house. We loved the horses next door and the scenic drive into Marion. Easy to get to Hungry Mother for trail hikes.
We enjoyed our stay at the Granny Branch Inn. Nice furnishings, comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen with 2 coffee makers which was really nice as we elected to use the Keurig. What was also nice was laundry detergent being available as well as paper towels and toilet paper. There was a view of horses from the laundry room window as well as the sun room. My husband enjoyed sitting in the sun room to read. Plenty of TV channels to watch and internet, although slow was better than not having it, as we used it to look up places to go after we were kind of rained in and couldn't ride the trike in the mountains. Interesting trip for my husband as he rode his trike to the mountains and encountered calves in the road and then Saturday night, we went to Marian to have dinner and encountered what had to be someone's pet pig who took his sweet time getting out of the road. We enjoyed our trips to Wytheville and Galax and visited just about every antique shop we came across in Marian, Wytheville & Galax. Highly recommend the Log House in Wytheville for lunch. We got to the Wolf BBQ restaurant in Marian too late in the evening to get ribs, but what we had was good. I would not recommend the hot dog restaurant on Main Street in Wytheville. We also ate lunch at Shatley Springs and it was really good with good service. We ordered from the menu instead of getting the family style as that was way too much food. Again, everyone we came across there was very friendly and helpful. The little shops there were interesting. The scenery was gorgeous everywhere we went with lots of different kinds of livestock and Christmas trees. People were friendly and I even met someone from where we live and we were at least 4 hours from home. We even made friends with a sweet little Corgi looking dog that I kept threatening to bring home. Don't know who he belonged to, but he was very well behaved and loved having his ears and belly rubbed. Peaceful and quiet place with plenty of room to spread out. Oh and the brownies were delicious.
the house was very comfortable and neighbors very friendly quiet neighbor enjoyed our stay
We all loved The home. It was clean, and had everything we needed for a long weekend. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evenings, and on the back porch for morning coffee. The scenery to and from our event at hungry mother state park was Beautiful and very much worth the drive.if we are ever in the area In the future and need a place to stay we would much rather stay in your quaint little farmhouse as opposed to a stuffy hotel room. P.S. We all loved the brownies. Thanks for the experience.
We enjoyed our stay and the peacefulness of the area. Everyone was so friendly. The brownies were delicious. We did feel the house could have been cleaner but our overall experience was a good one.
Had everything we needed. Certainly would return if we were in the area. Great Host.
I had known about this VRBO destination for quite some time, as I lease a trout stream in the area, one valley over. I finally got to experience it and found it to be delightful. The little community of Camp has a good deal of historic significance in the southwest Virginia area and although much of the house dates back to the early 1900's, there is evidence of a structure on the site all the way back to 1818. The house is very quaint and comfortable, nicely furnished, and quiet! The drive to get to Camp goes through some of the prettiest farmland one could ever imagine, with rolling hills on every side, and nary a car goes by, except for the occasional local resident. The owner, Bonita Jones, is a delightful lady. I couldn't have been more pleased.
My wife and I adored the Granny Branch Inn. It had everything we were looking for when we booked. Quiet, spacious outdoors. Close to Hiking and Fishing in the National Forest. In fact you can walk out the side door and up the Mountain into the Mt Rogers National Recreation area. The owner and the neighbors were super welcoming. (They really do leave Homemade Brownies out to welcome you.) The yard and the views are beautiful. We will be back!
If you are looking for a charming, authentic farmhouse getaway, this is the place! We evacuated from Hurricane Irma with kids, dogs, and rabbit and the Joneses and the Camp community were exceptionally gracious hosts during our stay. They really allowed us to make the best of a stressful situation and simply enjoy our time exploring the Virginia mountains! Thank you!
We enjoyed a relaxing time at this country home. It was clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the complimentary brownies that the owner baked for us. She was very friendly and nice. We were glad that the property was pet friendly as we had 2 small dogs along.
We stayed the weekend to attend our family reunion in the area. The house was very comfortable and relaxing. The brownies were a huge hit, especially with the children. There were two dogs who came to visit, they were very friendly. The owner was friendly and helpful. If you want to relax and sleep well this is a great spot! We wanted to go to the the drive in theater in Marion but didn't realized that the movie showing changed the night before and was not a kid-friendly movie so we played miniature golf there instead, they have an ice cream parlor also.
The home was so lovely and comfortable. We wish we had more time to just relax. The owners were so nice and very flexible. I would love to come back and spend more time.
We stayed a few nights while hiking in the local area. It was a real pleasure to come home at night to a quaint and quiet house in the heart of a small community. The house is very historic and furnished in a beautiful country style. The old porch was a perfect spot to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the countryside. And the inside breakfast nook was a treat. The owners live nearby and were the nicest folks!
My girlfriend and I found this lovely home while planning a Memorial Weekend trip to bike the Virginia Creeper Trail. We could not have found a better place. It's situated along scenic back country roads with picturesque views of rolling hills and horses. The house is in great condition and well furnished. The owners live two houses away and are very kind and gracious. They invited us to join them for a campfire one evening. The house is a short drive to a fabulous lake in nearby Marion (Hungry Mother State Park) and to bike shops in Damascus that will rent bikes and transport you to Whitetop to bike the beautiful Virginia Creeper Trail trail. We loved our stay and highly recommend this place to others. We can't wait to go back!
My group of 7 LOVED staying in this home. We travel all over taking in sights from Marion to Pigeon Forge. However, we were always thankful to have this comfortable home to come back to at night. The little community has friendly people, nice roads to take walks on, and such beautiful views of Virginia at its best. We loved to sit out on the porch at night and enjoy the stars, and we loved the country home on the inside too! This is a place that I would want to come back to again and again!
Our family chose this as our annual birthday get away retreat! It was so comfortable, cozy and downright enjoyable! The owners are a dream to deal with! Loved the welcome brownies as well!
What a wonderful time we had a this country home. Peace, quiet and rest was just what we were looking for and we found it! The home is beautiful, clean and well furnished. I would recommend it to anyone. We loved walking in the country, the fresh air and the night sky. I have never seen so many stars in my life! No light pollution. It is amazing how many stars you can see when you are in the country. We enjoyed it immensely!
Beautiful, comfortable house. We were an extended family with ages from 6 to 91. Everyone enjoyed the house and property. The kitchen was well equipped for me to provide meals, and the kids had a great time hiking.
This house is everything you could want in a mountain retreat. The building is old and a little rustic but very comfortanle, all of which - for my money - is exactly what I want in house in the hills. The house is very large, has tons of charm, and - surprisingly - has creature comforts like wifi, DirecTV, and a 6 burner stove that make it the total package. I love this place and will happily stay there again.
It is truly off the beaten path...but it is a lovely home with a lot of character. It suited our family of 6! Though it was out in the country, the home still had satellite TV..so we didn't miss a football game plus there was internet that seems to be a necessity as well. The neighbors and the neighbor dogs were very friendly too. We had a wonderful visit and would come back to stay again!
From the moment we arrived the club was impressed with the rental. Our motorcycle club enjoyed a fall weekend riding through the Southwestern Virginia countryside, albeit wet. We booked with Bonita, and her accommodations were everything and more. She nailed every detail in her description, except that the pictures truly do not do this house justice. We rode over 900 miles that weekend, about 700 miles of it was in the rain, so we really enjoyed the warm, dry house when we returned. Our dedicated chef thoroughly enjoyed the fully functional kitchen, we had no problems with any thing at the house. The homemade brownies sitting on the dining room table really set the tone for the weekend... I could go on and on about this place and the surrounding area, but if you have questions, first believe what you hear, and second ask, you will like the honest answers.
Beautiful country setting. It was the perfect choice for a three day cycling excursion through VA and WV. The house was comfortable for 4 adults with all the amenities you'd expect from a full service rental. Three friendly dogs treated us each morning and and evening. The owner was very accommodating and headed arrangements for our late arrival on the first day complete with a home made zucchini bread. We all gave the Granny Branch Inn a thumbs up and we would definitely stay here again next time we pass through Sugar Grove.
The house was a wonderful recreation of grandma and grandpa's home. Very comfortable and clean, charming porch, roomy with elements of old and new. Refreshing country atmosphere with horses, dirt road, mountain view. Owners were like friends, making us feel invited, going out of their way to show us interesting, beautiful sights. Secluded mountain location, lovely scenic country driving.
