Property and host were both great! I experienced a strange glitch when booking this VRBO trip through Expedia. I could not connect the reservation to my VRBO account and VRBO was unable to resolve the issue. However, they put me in direct contact with the host, who was very professional and communicative. We enjoyed staying in this cute property on beautiful Balboa Island. Highly recommend.

The location of the apartment can’t be beat. It is only a handful of houses from the water and a short walk from downtown. If you don’t plan to leave Balboa you do not need a rental car. The place itself is laid out perfectly for a small family, friends or a couple. The beds are comfy, the bathroom nicely appointed, the living room is spacious enough for five to hang out around the fire. The kitchen has most everything you need to cook a simple meal. The only wish was to have more of a dining room set up on the deck rather than a sitting area. There are fantastic beach chairs and beach towels available which made her time by the water very relaxing. We did have a rental car and parking was a breeze. I will definitely be back again and cannot recommend this place enough !

This was a high end luxury feel that was live-able! Very smartly designed. Extra comfy. Perfect location. Great value for Balboa Island stay. Very accommodating host and exactly as presented. It has it all, fireplace, a/c, heat, great appliances, comfy furniture and beds, very clean, outside bbq, nice outside deck space.

The property is ideally located near the South Bay Front with a nice beach and in easy walking distance to Marine for shopping and dining options. Our host Chase was very accommodating and helpful. The property was spotless upon arrival and just as depicted in the photos, quite comfortable for two people. It was so quiet at night and easy to sleep with the windows open for that fresh ocean air!

The host was great! The location was ideal! We enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back.

Nice property

This is my second visit at Mariners cottage. This time it was a couple of weeks before Christmas. The weather was warm with hardly a breeze. The homes were festive and beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The cottage itself remains comfortable and functional. The beds and linen were amazing. The community is very dog friendly and you are always met with a hello or good morning on your walk.It’s a beautiful place to reflect and be thankful. Chase makes the experience easy and he’s very on top of things.

We loved the location of this cottage. We walked around the island every night after our yummy desserts. Inside the cottage was spacious and very comfortable. Perfect for my husband and I. We loved the fireplace and the outside deck. We will definitely be back!

Comfortable couches and beds. Kitchen had everything. Parking was good. Good storage in bathroom and hall. Lighting could have been better in living-room.

This cute upstairs unit is in a great location on Balboa Island, and we would absolutely stay here again. We appreciated the carport parking and included toiletries and kitchen staples. The wifi was strong, and it was nice to have a little desk in the bedroom. Communication and check-in instructions were clear. The host was friendly and responded quickly to a couple questions in advance of the stay. My only suggestion is to replace the mattresses when possible as they sag a bit and have body impressions, which affect comfort. Overall, it was an excellent stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit to friends.

We had a great stay at this cottage on the Island. It was so perfect for us! Having much more space than a just a hotel room, a fully stocked kitchen, even a Brita water pitcher in the fridge plus the outdoor deck was such a bonus for morning coffee and evening wine! Will definitely stay here again. The owner was so easy to work with also!

We had a wonderful stay at the Mariner Cottage. It was a safe, clean, and peaceful home base for exploring Balboa Island, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach. We loved having a parking spot, since we didn't drive the entire time; rather, we rode bikes and took the Balboa Ferry over to the Peninsula. Communication with our host, Chase, was 10/10. Thank you for making it an easy, stress-free stay, allowing us to focus on enjoying the area. :)

Super clean and super convenient location. It had everything we needed and then some for a six night stay. And the AC is a must have for September months!

Great location. Close to Marine Avenue and restaurants and shops. Also close to the Ferry. We were able to do a lot of walking. Very comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting on the deck.

We are older 55 and 62 we loved it very quiet at night which we like very nice restaurants we walked too which we like the beach right there met nice people we took our multi poo she was great so I’m glad because it was very pet friendly everywhere we went people fell in love with her communication with host excellent We will be back more often now that we have experienced this location

We always enjoy our week at Chase’s cottage. We celebrated Mother’s Day, had beautiful weather and were lucky enough to add a couple of extra days to our vacation. We looked forward to having coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night out on the new deck furniture. Until next time!!

I and my daughter stayed at the cottage for 6 days. We really appreciated the cozy, clean and well equipped cottage. The area was beautiful and well situated at Balboa Island. Chase was such a great landlord, responding swiftly to all our queries. We are so grateful for the kind hospitality and we can warmly recommend this vacation rental!

Great communication and just a very well maintained cottage loft feel here. Outdoor patio is a surprise with really comfortable seating and just a great place to hang out. We easily walked downtown and to the water. The property had great storage for our “stuff” too which was appreciated. Really good shower and just a fun place to stay.

Perfect location for our annual getaway to balboa island. Everything was in great shape and clean will stay again next year. Love the sitting area off kitchen

I’ve been staying on Balboa Island at least 3 times a year for the past 30 years, and this updated cottage is one of the best beach cottages my wife and I have ever rented! Excellent price point and a beautiful remodel with a lot of space for two adults.

Wonderful place to stay! Everything was nicely updated and clean. Location is excellent to the downtown of Balboa Island. Great outdoor deck to enjoy mornings and evenings. Very comfortable place overall. Would highly recommend and would stay again!

We just stayed here for the 2nd time while visiting family in Huntington Beach. The apartment is attractively furnished in gray, navy and white, and has everything you will need in the kitchen. It is steps away from the walkway that runs all the way around Balboa Island. We look forward to returning.

This is the second time that I have stayed at this property, and I loved it as much this time around, too. It is clean, cozy, well-located, and just all around great.

We come to the LA area every three months for medical appointments and this was by far the best place we have stayed. Chase is an excellent host and has paid attention to all the details to make for a great guest experience. We would definitely stay here again. Great quiet neighborhood. Walkable to shops and restaurants. Close to all the action.

My husband and I have never been to California before and this area was recommended by family. We would come back in a heartbeat! This property is walking distance to so much and we spent so much time outside! The property had everything we needed including the kitchen that was stocked with things to cook with! The cottage is tastefully decorated, well appointed and immaculately clean! The beds and pillows are so incredibly comfortable that combined with buttery soft linens you will never want to get up in the morning! An ideal quiet location and perfect host…it doesn’t get any better than that! We definitely will rent this unit again.

This spot was absolutely perfect for 2 beach bumming kids celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. It was magical to walk through the festively lit streets to admire beautiful beach homes. Its wonderful to ditch your car and enjoy everything close by.

Cannot say enough good things about this rental. I don't love vacation rentals and have been avoiding, but took a chance on this trip and I am SO glad we did. We checked in late evening and had no trouble locating everything. The directions were clear. Fresh, clean, and every single thing we needed was at an arm's reach. We were very comfortable. Walkability to the ferry was perfect. And it goes without saying, Balboa Island at Christmas is MAGICAL! Thank you for the wonderful stay, we hope to be back soon!

Perfect place for quiet reflection. I appreciated everything the owner has done with his property…even had a little lit Christmas tree. Well stocked kitchen too.

Wonderful one bedroom...The bedroom itself is quite large with 2 queen size beds, a very nice living room and kitchen. Very clean and welcoming, complete with a small outside area perfect to be able to enjoy the evening and barbeque. The carport is a plus with easy access to the unit. To top it all off, Chase was a wonderful host!
