What a nice, peaceful place for a family getaway! Owasco Lake is one of the more undiscovered finger lakes, so if it's a little R&R you are looking for, this is the spot. New central air for 2021 so no worries about being uncomfortable on those hot summer nights.... We also just finished a large remodel to the first floor living area and kitchen. It is now one big open floor plan with fabulous views of the lake! The cottage now has cabinetry, soapstone countertops, and all new appliances. There is a bedroom and full bath on the first floor and three small bedrooms and a half bath upstairs.
The lakefront here is very clean and great for swimming and water activities, not to mention the excellent fishing! Use the two kayaks on site, rowboat, fish off the dock, bring your own boat or rent a motorboat from a nearby marina. You are sure to catch perch, bass, pike, trout, and maybe some walleye. The level beachfront, along with a gradual walk into the water, make this property perfect for people of all ages!
This early 1900's cottage has had new flooring installed throughout and has updated baths. Brand new couches and all new high quality mattresses in 2019. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake from anywhere on the first floor or lounge on the spacious lakeside deck with comfy dining and patio furniture. Sit back, relax and watch the kids and family enjoy the water right from the deck.
Clean house and grounds that are well equipped . Beautiful view accompanied by a refreshing breeze. Communication with landlord was easy. Would definitely recommend.
The house is liveable, but definitely not what is represented on line. The house is very old, and everything is very cheap and flimsy. The kitchen cabinets need to be replaced, or at the very least, repaired and painted. One of the drawers is not supported when opened, making is a difficult task to remove anything from the drawer. All of the utensils are old, cheap, and worn. They should all be replaced. The house was not stocked with the usual items such as soap, shampoo, and paper products. The price is much too high for the quality (or lack of quality) of the amenities. I think the property should be represented more accurately, so there are no surprises when you arrive.
Owner was very kind and answered all my questions promptly. We had a wonderful time here on our Mom’s get away after a long 6 months of quarantine with our kids. It was close to many restaurants and shops. We traveled to skeneatles and it wasn’t far at all. Gorgeous lake views. The house is older and pictures online were a bit misleading, could use some updating. Had a majority of items we needed and Main surfaces were clean! We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Very nice property for my family. Our kids are 9 & 7 and they loved being able to walk out in the water and how friendly the ducks were! The house is exactly as listed and the owner was very responsive to any questions. Was a great end to our summer :)
The cottage was neat and clean overall and the property was as advertised. Great lakefront with beautiful views, especially sunrise and sunset! Beds were comfortable. Porch was great to sit and enjoy the lake breeze, as was just sitting on the lakeshore! Close to many restaurants. Christine was responsive to any questions we had. We had a great week, and hope to go back!
Our family really needed a new view before school started. This cottage fit the bill. Christine patiently answered all my questions so we knew what to pack. We were thrilled to find plenty of kitchen supplies and towels. We bought some inflatable kayaks for our trip - heaven! But you can rent on the lake too. We purchased firewood from a place up the road at Christine’s suggestion and had a fire in the pit. So relaxing.
Very nice stay. Close to stores and outlets as well as Skaneateles if you have a rainy day. Looking forward to another stay. I was able to park a 21 ft boat at the dock without problem.
This property is in far worse shape than the photos indicate. In addition, upon our arrival it was filthy. The owner said that was because the usual cleaner was unavailable. Perhaps that was true, but the filth had built up over a long time. There were mouse droppings ( and several of our bags were gnawed through!!) a moldy air conditioner, wood rot, inside window frames crammed with dirt... The air conditioning was inadequate ( 2018 review response said that would soon be corrected...)and no door screens. So, to allow for a cool breeze, you have to allow for the many expected lake insects. We also encountered a colony of bats and a colony of yellow jackets living in the roof/ siding. Christine was unaware of both, and they were more of an interest than bother. I believe Christine WAS unaware. That’s the problem! She should be far more aware of the condition of her property if she is going to represent it as “ nicely remodeled” and post photos that show a clean, inviting lake house.
This house is a quaint oasis on beautiful Owasco Lake! The house was described accurately in the listing. It was neat and clean upon arrival. Check-In and Check-Out were easy. Christine, the owner, is friendly and easy to communicate with. There is plenty to do nearby, with the Cayuga Wine Trail and Skaneateles nearby. We had a wonderful stay.
Everything was exactly it was listed if not better. Our family loved the accommodations and look forward to staying again.
Owner was responsive when we contacted her. Home is very charming and just as described.
nice cottage for a get away
Our party had 5 adults and two children and an infant. We enjoyed the cottage for the few days we were there. The little girls even went swimming in the middle of September!
Location on the lake was great. Comfortable living room area and good sized main bathroom. The kitchen was very small with no ventilation for hot summer days. AC could only be on for a certain amount of hours each day. Small kitchen appliances need updating. Same for outdoor grill which took forever to cook anything. If the weather is bad or hot there is no way to seat more than a few people inside for a meal.
The cottage is extremely comfortable and tastefully decorated. The host was extremely responsive and quickly took care of any needs that arose. The living room has new furniture that made the room feel like the perfect indoor space. The outside has a nice deck and it's only a feet from the lake. We loved the fire pit and the outdoor space is outstanding. The house is perfect for a family getaway or a romantic adventure in the finger lakes.
We had a great stay at this property! We have two kids and met our friends who have 3 kids (one baby) and it was roomy enough for everyone. It's not a huge space, but the walls were thick and didn't feel like you were on top of each other. Not to mention, most of your time is spent outside. I was nervous about having 5 kids under 5 years old with the water, but it was perfect for them. I rocky beach with a gradual decline into the water, and stayed shallow pretty far out. That alone kept our kids busy all day. House was clean with plenty of blankets and pillows. Be prepared to kill a few bugs, as most lake houses have a few of them! Lake was beautiful and clean, and the neighbors were close but quiet. Great family spot and owner was great to deal with, we highly recommend!
My family and I have been vacationing at Quiet Waters for 5 years now. It had been an amazing experience and very peaceful. Neighbors are quiet and very nice people. The owners are so amazing, whenever we had an issue they were right there to help out. I would recommend Quiet Waters to anyone.
We stayed a week and had the most relaxing vacation ever. The house is cozy and has everything we needed. We had a problem with the refrigerator not working on the first day but was assured by Christine the problem was freezing and would be OK overnight. It was and we were compensated for our trouble. If you are looking for a relaxing quiet vacation this is it. Thank you Christine.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Tom and Christine's place for a week. It's a reasonably convenient place to stay for a Finger Lakes adventure. We spent our time touring wineries on other lakes and going back and forth between Ithaca. Ithaca, as well as the areas we visited for wineries, were about an hours drive. I'm sure there are closer wineries as well, but the big clusters are on other lakes. The place itself is 4 small bedrooms. It's cozy and had everything we needed to cook, enjoy the lake front, etc. We particularly liked the bonfire pit being directly in front of the water, great for roasting marshmallows, bundled up, looking as the waves roll in and out. The only thing that gave me pause with the reservation was that electronic payments weren't setup. I was really uncomfortable sending a check for the rental amount and the security deposit, but took a leap and did so. Received a check back for the security deposit, so my worries were allayed, but still, shouldn't be a big issue to setup safer payments through this site or airbnb. That said, great hosts, cozy place, lots of bedrooms, and right on the lake. Hard to beat it for the off-season price :)
My sister and her husband, my nephew and his wife, and my wife and I stayed in the cottage the rental week of 26 July 2014. It is well maintained, and easily accommodated six people. It has four bedrooms, so it could accommodate more people. The owners are fantastic. They are easy to find, very cooperative and did everything in their power to ensure that we had a good visit. It was a great trip and an excellent vacation. Thank you.
Magnifique vue ! Le cottage est très agréable avec un accès direct au lac !
