Unique in the context, those who choose to spend a holiday in these walls will certainly be impressed by the simple reason to spend time where once it was a millstone where the grapes of the neighboring vineyard were conveyed, or rather harvested, pistata ( at the time with the feet and with various techniques), transformed into must, fermented, mataffiata, entangled through the ritual 'du conzu and after must was placed in the barrels and vinified in tasty and radiant Etna wine .. .
In absolute relaxation, immersed in the green of a chestnut grove just behind the north side, the property extends to the south-west where many varieties of plants, vineyard, citrus grove and olive grove insist, all around the land is arranged in lawn and flowers.
It can be reached via a wrought iron gate at the entrance to a narrow strip of lava stone.
In the property there is a swimming pool with solarium overlooking Etna to share with other accommodation over many green spaces, in the space in front of a large relaxation area with table and barbeque corner where you can make tasty grilled with typical local products.
The paths, are paths immersed in the forest and perimeter of the property where you can walk, observe the plants, listen to the nature of birds, on the slopes of Mount Etna to Muntagna in fact active volcano with their boates (in absolute safety), as well as being able to observe it from the solarium of the pool.
Strategic in position, just 5 minutes from the Giarre exit of the A18, you can reach Taormina, Giardini Naxos in just 20 minutes, thirty summits of Etna di Piano Provenzana in the north and Rifugio Sapienza in the south, both ski resorts and points of departure for visiting the craters over 3000

We visited here on our honeymoon. Fantastic and relaxing place to stay while exploring Sicily. The host (and family) are extremely friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and accommodations are as advertised. Quiet place, great views, lovely pool. Very easy to explore Etna and a short drive to highway to explore the east coast of Sicily. Local recommendations from host for coffee, pastries, restaurants, and activities were all great. We hope to return in the future!

We loved our stay here. We stayed in the old farm house and it was fantastic. Quirky, rustic and lovely. The main bedroom has air con but the rest of the place doesn't, but that didn't bother us. As the bedrooms are downstairs they are cooler. It even has a turret! The garden is a magical wonderland, with a treehouse sitting on an old olive tree, a tortoise, lemon and lime trees, grape vines... and all around, it has been carefully and subtly designed to create spaces with trees and lighting for differnet places to hang out. The pool is lovely and has a view of Etna. It erupted while we were there and it was very exciting. The hosts are lovely, great communication, very helpful - on-site but not under your feet. The location is fantastic for day trips around the East coast. Highly recommended!!

We loved our 6-night stay at this beautiful property on the slopes of Mt. Etna. This was the relaxation segment of a larger road trip around Southern Italy. Gabriela and Alfio were such welcoming guests, arranging pickups at the airport for some family who flew in to join us, offering baked goods and making available produce, eggs, wine, and other homemade products from the property. The absolute highlight was an excursion up the volcano, including a delicious picnic complete with tablecloth...expertly led and prepared by Alfio. The house, Il Palmento, is wonderfully quirky and felt authentically Sicilian. There are a lot of stairs so it might not be ideal with someone with mobility issues. Daytrips to other towns on the eastern coast are easily planned, or just hanging out in the beautiful outside seating areas. We were even able to take a plunge in the pool in mid-October which was delightful and refreshing. Altogether it was a delightful stay - I hope to go back some day!

Very friendly and kind hosts. You can buy fresh eggs, avocados, wine etc all produced on site. Swimming pool is shared but in a private area. Quite a few steps and stairs, so maybe not ideal for the very young or old, but a great, quirky building surrounded by lemon trees and beautiful countryside.

We've spent our most beautiful two weeks of vacation in this amazing house and within this incredible landscape. We fell in love with the nice, clean, intimate and personal house. We were able to cook dinner, drink our coffee, see the sun go down or the moon rise on top of the house and we just found it perfect from the inside and the outside. The garden of the site was individually decorated and the family took great care of it. The two cats and the turtle were friendly and sweet. We were especially amazed by the family, Gabriella, Alfio, Riccardo and Alfredo, who were so nice, friendly, sharing and kind. We missed nothing, they were always there for us and we were even able to have fresh eggs and vegetables and the most delicious homemade wine. Alfio and Alfredo also went hiking with us to the etna during a couple of hours and prepared a Picknick afterwards which was delicious and wonderful. We've experienced a wonderful hiking day! So, just to say, grazie mille, we spent perfect holidays there and we will be back for sure!! Lisa & Giovanni

The host family were generous, attentive and helpful. Their local knowledge is invaluable in planning local activities. The produce from their land was shared with us and an honesty box was used for eggs, veg, wine gifts etc at the property. Gabriella’s baking is exceptional- local recipes. Alfio’s escorted trip up Etna with picnic was exceptional & provided loads of information about the volcano. The house is quirky with all modern facilities. We loved it! The garden is stunning with a pool & views of Etna. Local shops & restaurants good & friendly service. Short drive to beach & Taormina. Loved this holiday & would definitely recommend the accommodation and will be back!

The owners are very warm, attentive and are eager to help you where they can. The house has a lot of space and is beautiful restored from an old winehouse into a luxury appartment. The garden and swimming poole provide a very relaxing atmosphere. If we have the opportunity we certainly will come back!
