Broadkilll Beach is a hidden gem on the Delaware Bay. Drive through the PrimeHook Wildlife Refuge (check this out!) to a small strip of beach that is ‘The Broadkill’. It goes approximately 2 miles in both directions from the main cross street. This is a great place to get your run in. There is only one commercial property that the locals call 'The Mall', where you can get most everything that you might need to enhance your stay. You might feel, at times, that you have the beach to yourself! The people of the area are terrific, friendly and make you feel welcome.
When you need to be near the hustle and bustle of the popular shore points, it's only a short drive away. Wander over rte 16 to the little town of Milton or make your way south on rte 1 towards the beaches of Lewes, Cape Henlopen, Rehoboth, Dewey, and Bethany. Take a 90 minute ferry boat ride on the Cape May/Lewes Ferry out of Cape Henlopen. Spend the day in victorian Cape May, New Jersey. Take your car, bicycle or just walk aboard. There is a trolly on the other side that can take you to town. Get some fresh, right off the boat, scallops at the dockside restaurant at The Lobster House. Of course, you have to play some boardwalk skeeball or you could wait until you get back to Rehoboth to try your hand at that at Funland. The SeaShell shop miniature golf always looks fun, back on Rte 1 in Delaware, or maybe you want to check out all of the outlets. Save the outlets for a rainy day as well as the movie theater that is close by too.
For us, a fun day at the beach is always great; Maybe have your morning coffee on the bench overlooking the bay;start in the morning with a walk to look for seashells; ride the waves; rent a paddleboard or soak up some Vitamin D; then a cookout - I can smell the charcoal-maybe some juicy cheeseburgers tonight and don't forget the smores. On a clear night, look up and see the billions of stars that you won't ever see at home! It's amazing! Open all the windows at night so you can hear the waves while you have the best night's sleep ever! HAVE FUN!!
*Lewes Park and Ride "DART Beach Bus" 17616 Coastal Highway - park and ride to all beaches, including Ocean City, Md. -check on-line for running hours and distances they go.
Perfect getaway to the beach biking and wildlife.
We had a nice , relaxing stay. Property manager made us feel comfortable and cared for. We love this sleepy beach town and the property was perfect for our small family
Are some of the fixtures/ furnishings out of date, yes, but functioning and comfortable, and as pictured/ advertised. And the location and pleasantness of the host cannot be beat.
Cutest cottage by the bay. Cozy and clean. Location is semi-secluded, away from the hustle of the ocean beaches. Small beach town feel. Only a short trip to shopping and the boardwalk. Very relaxing and enjoyable.
The four of us were absolutely thrilled with the accommodations themselves and the location of the property. The convenience of being so close to the beach in this very quiet community was amazing. We were able to take advantage of exploring the region on a few of our days there. So many things to see and do within an hour of the location. Our weather was perfect and we took advantage of cooking most meals which was a breeze with the kitchen amenities and grill. We will return for sure.
We had a lovely time! We were in town for a sports tournament and had the opportunity to turn our stay into a mini vacation. This property was in the perfect location to enjoy our sports events and enjoy our time off. Steps from the beach made the evenings relaxing.
Great spot. Very close to the beach and a great setting and owner.
This was the perfect location- walking distance to the beach and super close to the Broadkill store! The owners are very kind and gave some great food recommendations as well! Highly recommend for a small family get away!
Just a few steps away from Broadkill Beach, which is uncrowned, great for beachcombing and kids playing in the surf
We had a wonderful time and Lynn was very responsive. Location location location! Not only was the beach just over the dunes but the only convenient store was just a minutes walk down the street which made such a difference with a three year old and newborn. Plus, the state beaches are a short drive away. It was our first family vacation to the beach since we had kids and we can’t imagine it having gone better. Definitely will consider coming here again. Thanks!!
Proximity to the beach can't be beat for the price. Cozy, cute cottage that worked perfectly for us. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a sleepy beach town, this is the place. Just check with the owners regarding the number and ages of guests. There was a bit of miscommunication that the listing Sleeps 6, but owner didn't want us to have 4 adults staying in the home. I'm not sure if it's an ongoing or new issue, but the septic is particularly precarious. You need to be very cautious about the water usage. Again, super cute cottage in a great location with beach access. Just pay attention to the fine print in the listing. **Note: There is no washer/dryer. **Note: There are technically 2 bathrooms in the home, but only one functioning.
This property was exactly what we were looking for! The house was perfect for our family of three. It had a retro/tiki/beach cottage vibe going on, which we loved! The house was clean and well organized. The kitchen had everything we needed for our cooked meals. Lynn, the host, was very helpful and communicated everything clearly. Be aware that there is not a washer/dryer which made drying our beach towels a little tricky, but there is a backyard which gets sun most of the day, so we dried everything the old fashioned way. The house is literally less than a minute's walk to Broadkill Beach which is a quiet, sparsely populated beach. The sunrises were amazing and the highlight of our beach time. The local store was also just a short walk away and we visited it most days for coffee or ice cream. We would book this property again in a heartbeat!
