The photos only tell part of the story. The actual cottage is gorgeous. The furnishings are top notch. Not a speck of dust. The yard has deer, bunnies beautiful birds. Linda and John are totally hands off unless you call them. They respond immediately. I can not rave enough about this awesome vacation.

The setting is excellent and relaxing....yet close to civilization.....making it a wonderful spot for a couple or a large group and it is pet friendly. House and setting is as described and the hosts are excellent. I don't know what could have made it better. Highly recommended.

We had a great time staying at Acorn Cottage. We were able to visit several places of interest. The owners were very pleasant and friendly. We had one problem and John immediately took care of it. Our family had fun fishing in the pond and watching turkeys with their babies strutting around. The cabin was very well equipped with everything you need and more. We'd stay again. Thanks John and Linda for a great stay!

John and Linda were perfect hosts! They had thought of everything to make our visit a most pleasant experience. The cottage was very clean and furnished with seating for everyone, both in the living room and kitchen areas. Plenty of room for all, including the dogs, and the porches, full length front and back of house, were so relaxing. Very private with a warm feeling while still being near restaurants and shopping too. We so enjoyed our visit and would definitely visit again!!

Feeling of way out country living at its finest, yet close driving to so many adventures. Place is absolutely gorgeous, and very clean throughout. Exactly what we were looking for! The owners were very attentive, great attention to detail, and went above and beyond to make sure everything needed was provided and then some. Every detail was handled before we even knew to ask. Updates are evident and obviously still ongoing, but with no disruption to our stay whatsoever. Can’t wait to return and see the new improvement results! Thanks again for sharing your slice of heaven ‘the Acorn Cottage’ with us!!

(June 2018) From the moment we stepped into the rustic Acorn Cottage, we were charmed. Think movies “Dirty Dancing” and “Parent Trap”, their settings met up and created your lodgings and you can imagine why we felt an escape instantly. The spacious ‘home away from home’ and grounds were idyllic, not only for us but for our GoldenDoodle, Rory. Honoring the leash requirement, we also brought our 30-foot line and Rory romped and ran during our horseshoe tourney and catfish dinner from the nice propane grill with terrific outdoor seating. The expansive yard space was freshly mowed and is naturally landscaped to ensure minimal exposure from ticks/bees/wasps for our furrbaby and us. To our delight, lightening bugs twinkled throughout the property at dusk as frogs croaked in the on-site pond. From the Acorn, we took a long, back country drive and arrived at Fall Creek Falls for a day of hiking. Before leaving, the on-site, quality blender had provided us with breakfast smoothies to fuel us for the day. The fellas in our group didn’t miss a moment of golf updates with the extensive offering of channels on the large screen television. And the golfing continued day two with a 35 minute drive from the Acorn to the Fairfield Glades Golf Mecca. The location of Acorn Cottage allows for a rural experience but extends to activities for all tastes. The generous supplies and amenities are all inclusive in the cabin style decor. Organized, very clean, comfortable beds and furniture, GREAT handicap ramp and shower access, if needed. The owners call you upon your arrival and are available & accessable throughout your stay. The appliances are current and excellent condition. (Ice maker was terrific:filled a large ice chest and YETI hopper for our picnic at Fall Creek and had a full load of ice upon our return for dinner that evening. Refilled chest and YETI the next morning for departure and day of golf.) We are excited to return in the fall or winter to take advantage of the beautiful, stone fireplace! If you are looking for a pet friendly 🐶 rustic cabin escape in a SPACIOUS setting, roomie lodging, and SAFE environment-with a price that ensures a ‘bang for your buck’, Acorn Cottage is the ticket. The listings on the rental site are exactly as advertised-however, the relaxed, charming atmosphere can not be listed, it is yours to experience!😁 RPW 🎀-new Acorn Fan 🌰& frequent traveler

We are a family of four and one dog. Cabin was laid out very nicely, spacious. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. It was late and the lights were on for us!! The pantry was stocked and the appliances were up to date and clean. The yard was kept up nicely and plenty of room for kids to play and run off some energy. They played ball in the backyard and also played with mini corn hole boards. I seen blue gill in the pond however, we didn't get a chance to go fishing. We enjoyed the porches for morning and evening sitting. There were so many different birds in the area, we even heard some Turkey's!! There was a gas grill on the back porch that we used. The grill did have some grease on it that could be cleaned off so fire doesn't start. The neighbors were very friendly, waving to each other as we went by. Washer and dryer was nice so we didn't have to pack a lot and we also didn't go home with dirty clothes. The bed in the living room was one of the softest beds I've laid on. I like that the beds had mattress protectors, one of the kids had an accident and i was relieved to see the mattress wasn't ruined! The furniture, beds, and cabin as a whole was comfortable and clean. Since pets are allowed, we did bring our dog and yard didn't have a whole bunch of dog poo laying around. We kept her leased and in a cage when we were out. One of the kids also scraped his knee and i was worried about band-aids, they had a first aid kit!! There was multiple tables within the cottage that we were able to sit and eat as a family. I liked that it had multiple bathrooms to accommodate guests. One of my favorite things was the acorn on the front door and ferns hanging from porch! If we are in the area, we would def stay here again!!!

This was the quiet getaway we were looking for. Our Australian Shepherds had room to run and play and were also very happy! We spent evenings on the expansive porches and loved every minute. The kitchen was recently blessed with new appliances and was very functional. Our hosts had made sure that there was everything we needed in the huge kitchen area and throughout the cabin. The breakfast nook is quaint and great for morning coffee if the weather is bad. Our overall stay was very pleasant. Acorn Cabin and John and Linda were great!

This cabin was very spacious and comfortable as could be. The kitchen and pantry were stocked with anything you could possibly need. The over, microwave, and dishwasher are outdated and oven temperatures unreliable as well as the cooking times in the microwave. Plenty of soft towels and linens were provided and the cabin itself was clean. I was excited about the secluded space and in the cul de sac, I never worried about the safety of my children outside. The property could be very beautiful if it were not for the garbage lying all around and building materials (old wood and nails and paint cans) scattered. There is a tiny stream off the pond that was poisoned with some sort of stain or sealer--not a pretty sight. The final thing is the mouse, or mice, I suspect. We had more than one item nibbled by a mouse over our five night stay.

My husband and I met my brother and his wife for a long weekend. We were delighted with the property - it was everything it was marketed to be - and we found John and Linda to be accommodating and gracious hosts. The living room was spacious - the pictures didn't do that justice - and the kitchen had every gadget we needed. Such a charming place for reconnecting with loved ones. The only thing we didn't think about was that we might not have cell phone service! So it would be important to give the cottage land line phone number to family/friends who might need to call, or use a phone app that utilizes wifi. (My brother did have cell service; it depends on your provider.) We have already recommended the Cottage to friends and family members, and look forward to utilizing it again ourselves in the future.

Loved the property, lots of things provided to make a person feel at home........We forgot mustard at home and thought we would have to make a trip to the store, but lo and behold.....there was mustard on the pantry shelf.......We were so happy, the last thing we wanted to do was go to the store after being out all day. The things provided like laundry detergent, hand soap and paper products we all top quality named brands too. We would book this cabin again, it was everything we wanted and more. When we arrived we received a phone call from the owners asking if we had everything we needed, we were also made to feel very welcome to visit them one of the days we were down there. It was obvious that if we were in need of anything then help was only a phone call away. We had a wonderful time.......Thanks

What can I say? Acorn Cottage was our dream home! It was amazing and very large! Linda and John took such good care of us while staying there. We were not there for a vacation, yet a medical emergency with our son. It was a last minute rental and we were so glad we found it! The home was incredibly clean and very well taken care of. Linens, toiletries, anything you needed was there. Because we were rushing to TN to be with our son (one day to pack up 3 kids and two adults), they ran out and bought us some groceries to start with. They made sure our girls had breakfast in the morning. My girls had so much fun exploring and collecting acorns! We saw two small deer in the yard (which made my kids day) that my girls nick named. My girls had so much fun, they felt like it was a vacation. We will always be grateful to Linda and John for our time there and their kindness towards our whole family. We cannot wait to return one day to vacation and enjoy the fishing and the hammock once more... thank you!

We had a wonderful holiday at Acorn Cottage. Linda and John, the owners, are delightful and the cabin has everything you need and is extremely well stocked. We have stayed in many vacation rentals and have never experienced one with so many extra supplies and sundry items available to use. The setting is so peaceful and relaxing and the cottage is large and spacious. We didn't even use the upstairs as the ground floor is so large. It is very conveniently located with many state parks quite near. We will definitely return to enjoy this hidden gem.

I spent a month at Acorn Cottage with my two dogs and four students (all College students) while we worked on a research project in Tennessee. I often travel with my dogs and book stays in private rentals so they have more room. Acorn Cottage is by far the best place I have ever stayed, and I will surely return as soon as I can. The cabin is large, yet cozy with lots of cute little spaces such as the little seating area outside the upstairs bedrooms. When we wanted to socialize we gathered on the comfy couches in the living room but when we needed private time each one of us could find a place to ourselves. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking and was large enough so all five of us could participate in preparing our communal meals. The grounds and cabin are well-maintained and gorgeous. My dogs loved the backyard which has ample shade and lots of room for playing games like frisbee and soccer. The front area has a pond stocked with fish and lined with fishing poles so my students could experiment with catch and release fishing. There is a hammock in the front yard, a fire pit, lots of trees, and cool breezes that make even the hottest day comfortable to sit outside. The cabin is situated in a beautiful area of Cumberland County right outside of Crossville. The area is hilly and forested with beautiful country roads. There is a nice little place for breakfast called Linda's which is nearby, but it is also very easy to get into Crossville for shopping, restaurants, and fun. There are hiking trails and waterfalls a short drive from the cabin and plenty of parks to explore. Linda and John are delightful. They make sure everything is working and are friendly and warm. Best of all they seem to have anticipated everything a guest could need for a comfortable stay. Although they live close by the cabin is set back on the property so that their guests have full privacy. Although I have stayed in many rental properties for vacations and work this is the first time I have recommended a place. I have no reservations about recommending Acorn Cottage. It is a very special place with wonderful and helpful owners.

Just returned home from a week at Acorn Cottage! Our family found this place for our annual family reunion after selling our farm about 20 miles away in January of this year. 8 of us stayed at the cottage, but our gathering of 38 had no trouble being together and comfortable for our special reunion. We came from Florida, Alabama, Ohio and Tennessee and ALL agreed it was AWESOME! The house and surroundings were perfect! If you want to relax and enjoy just getting away from it all, this is the place. From the windows and front and back porches, we saw deer and wild turkeys. We roasted hot dogs and made smores over the fire pit, watched horse shoe contests, relaxed in a hammock, and made ourselves right at home rocking on the front porch. We found that we didn't even need the big TV in the huge family room! Was turned on once and right back off! This is the 4th vrbo rental I have booked, and we all agree that THIS IS THE BEST ONE ...others were in Florida, Alabama, and Pennsylvania. The owners live next door and you will not find nicer people! From all of us, THANK YOU, and we will see you next year!

And to top it off the owners are your neighbors and they were great. We will rent this place again!!

This is one of the best homes we stayed in. Very clean and cozy. I like to cook at home and the house was filled with plenty of pots, pans, utensils, condiments and snacks. I felt like I was in my own home. We asked for a boot scrapper for our shoes and they had it for us that evening. The property is large, wide open and quiet. We where able to connect to WiFi with no problems. We watch DVDs on their player and where able to connect the HDMI cable we brought with us to watch a movie from our computer to the flat screen TV. I highly recommend this property for large or small families with or without pets.
