The Space:

If you’re looking for a peaceful beach getaway, this bright and airy condo at Santamar by Tao in Akumal is the place you want to be! Akumal is one of the most beautiful places on the coast of the Riviera Maya, Mexico, and you’ll have so much at your fingertips that you may find it hard to venture out from the Santamar complex.



As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a luminous open living space, cozy sofa sitting area, and a Smart TV for relaxing downtime moments at home. You'll have direct access from the living area to a private terrace with a table and chairs and a jacuzzi! You can enjoy your breakfast, a morning coffee, or relaxing soak in the jetted tub with lush garden views and sea air.



The living room also seamlessly flows into the dining bar area, where you can enjoy delicious meals together if you don't decide to eat out on the terrace dining table!



The fully equipped kitchen features modern appliances, including a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Whether you're a culinary enthusiast or simply want to prepare a quick snack, you'll find everything you need here.



There are 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms to accommodate 6 guests as such:

The condo features air conditioning, a washer-dryer in the laundry room, high-speed WiFi, and laptop-friendly workspace, making long-term stays for a remote worker or any other reason extra comfortable and convenient.



At Santamar by Tao complex, you can enjoy the shared amenities like the 5 rooftop pools, one at each tower, and guests have access to all of them! Two ground-level pools, with the larger one directly behind the building for this condo, a private Santamar Beach Club with 2 more pools, a bathroom facility, and access to a private beach.



Guest Access:

Santamar is tucked away in a beautiful jungle setting, accessible only via an unpaved road, so a car is necessary to navigate the road since the property is not accessible by foot.



You’ll have full, exclusive access to the condo and shared access to the complex amenities.



The Neighborhood:

Akumal means “The Place of Turtles,” and it lives up to its name as it’s one of the top sea turtle nesting spots in the Mexican Caribbean. You’ll also find activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, paddle boarding, kite surfing, boating, eco-parks with underground rivers, ancient Mayan ruins, cenotes (natural freshwater sinkholes), and, of course, the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary.



Kay Beach Club is less than a 10-minute drive (1 mile away) and is a public Beach Club run by Tao. Here, you can go snorkeling or scuba diving! Beached Bikini Bar is only a 15-minute walk south on the beach.



Casa Club at Tulum Country Club (PGA golf course) is located across the street from Santamar entrance road, about 4.4 km | 2.7 mi away. And Grand Bahia Residences & Golf is about 4.7 km | 2.9 mi away.



You’ll be a short drive from Akumal town, where you’ll find small convenience stores if needed and the famous “swim with sea turtles at Akumal Bay” activity. (3.2 km|2 mi). There’s also a Wellness Center there, and day trips to Playa del Carmen or Tulum are easy to access, too!



Getting Around:

Santamar by Tao is 94 km or 58.4 miles, one hour and a 12-minute drive from the Cancun International Airport (CUN) when there’s no traffic. Please check your mobile map apps for accurate driving time. The development is situated on the beachside of the highway in Akumal and is only accessible by vehicle.



Other Things to Note:

Please note that access to the apartment is only available via stairs. We recommend considering this for guests with mobility concerns.



Electricity is expensive here, so please help save energy by using the AC only when needed, closing all windows and doors when it's on, and shutting it off every time you leave. A daily allowance of 20Kw/Day of electricity is included for short-term rentals (2-27 nights). Additional consumption will be charged at 3.85 mxn/kw. Electricity is not included for bookings of 28 nights or more. On arrival, our local team will take a meter reading, and again on departure. You will be billed after check-out for any additional consumption.

We do supply some bath essentials to get you started, like some toilet paper, shampoo and soap. These items are not replenished each time you run out.



The property is also equipped with gas detector.



- Travelers must be at least 21 years of age or older to book.

- Guests will be requested to sign a Rental Agreement upon booking confirmation.

- Please note that there is a mandatory cleaning service every from 21 nights on & every 21 days, at a charge of $50 USD. If your stay is between 21 and 42 nights, you'll be charged an additional $50; for stays between 42 and 63 nights, two cleaning fees ($100 total) will apply, and for every additional 21 nights thereafter, $50 will be charged.

- Help save energy by using the AC only when needed; avoid leaving it on if you are not in the property and closing all windows and doors when you use it.

- No smoking of any kind inside the home! Drug use and illegal activity on the premises are also strictly prohibited. Failure to comply results in a $300 fine.

- No parties, events, or excessive noise after 10 pm. Please respect the neighbors.

- No more guests than those listed in your reservation are allowed. There’s an extra charge for additional guests and visitors over the property's capacity.

- Guests are responsible for damages that occur or extra cleaning costs as a result of their stay.

- There are outdoor security cameras for safety and security.

- Depending on the booking site to make the reservation, a security deposit might be required that is refunded after check-out, provided all terms are met.

- Guests might be required to present an official ID at check-in or during the stay.

- Pets are not allowed.

- Pool and common area rules and hours must be respected.



Interaction with Guests:

The place is self-check-in using a digital door code. The code will be provided to you before arrival.

    We were delighted to see that the apartment had its own private garden and a partial sea view through the palm trees.The property was very clean and the apartment was comfortable and very well equipped. It was peaceful and felt far away from the crowded areas of Akumal even though they are just a 7 min car ride away.The green gate at the end of the road accesses another part of the Santamar property which all guests have access to, it leads to a sandy beach with excellent snorkeling. You can get the gate code from the property management company.We would be very happy to stay there again.
