We always stay on the North Side, from Rum Point to East End. This was our first time at this property, but definitely won't be the last. It is right in the middle of the North Side; close to everything, and quite private at the same time. The condo is larger than it appears in the photos. Six adults and lots of space for everyone. The grounds are beautiful. We had everything we needed and felt at home immediately. Breakfasts and sometimes lunches on the large balcony. Lots of room around the pool and in the lounge chairs on the beach. Everything we needed was right at our fingertips. Our stay was so relaxing. A special word about the owners. Mark and Christie could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They called the week before out stay to make sure all was in order. We stayed during the last week before everything was closed by the coronavirus, and had some difficulties reaching the outside world for information. Mark and Christie had contacted us at the beginning of our stay to see that everything was good after check-in, so I reached out to them to see if they could find some information for us, and Mark got back with everything we needed to know and with some contact numbers that had additional information. Way above the call of duty! We were very thankful and it allowed us to relax a couple more days and fully enjoy the vacation! This was a great vacation for our family. Thank you Mark and Christie!
It was clean an well appointed...we loved the peace and quiet. All around great time.
Condo exactly like pictures but better. Rooms are spacious, kitchen well appointed, bathrooms roomy. Lots of little touches like hairdryers, beach supplies, paper products, soap,... All so you can relax right away. Grounds were immaculate, pool was great. Even when windy the lagoon is calm so you can enjoy the ocean. Great location away from the crowds but a short drive to anywhere.
We booked this apartment, having stayed at another here previously, we were not at all disappointed. The location is still, for us, the best on the island, away from Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach, but close enough when we wanted to visit. We had pre booked some diving with Ocean Frontiers, about 9 miles away on East End, they were brilliant, so good, we booked some more, we would highly recommend them. We spent more time this year than previously by the pool at the apartment, which again was excellent, clean, warm and enough beds around for all the families that were visiting at the same time as us. Plenty of space that you don’t feel overcrowded. The apartment is well equipped and has almost anything you could want in a holiday rental. The view from the balcony is still my favourite and we had breakfast there most mornings (when not diving), incredibly relaxing. We would highly recommend #207 and are looking forward to a return visit.
We made a last minute change from the south side (which had a bad case of sargassum) to this gem on the north side. It had everything we needed: a beautiful view of the ocean, a beach and lagoon, a pool/bbq grill, a nice 3 bedroom w/large patio, and it was only 15 easy driving minutes to the Ocean Frontiers dive ship. There appeared to be only 3 of the 12 places occupied, so we basically had the place to ourselves. Just a minute away was a food truck (Island Bites) that ended up being our favorite eating spot. All good!
My wife and I stayed with our two teenagers and had a great time. The kids loved having their own bedrooms and bathrooms. It would have been very expensive to do this using a hotel. There was a mix-up with our arrival time, but Fernando the property manager was able to quickly straightened things out for us. The condo is well laid out and had plenty of space for us to cook, eat, shower, and relax. It is second floor in the third building back from the beach. The view from the deck is great, but the best spot on the property is in the shade under the pool pavilion where the constant Southeast wind bends around the building and hits from two directions at the same time. We swam and snorkelled at the property and at various other places around the island. We found lobster at the bottom of the lagoon and turtles at Rum Point. The food at the Caboose (walking distance from the condo) was great. Thanks to Mark and Christie for making this available us.
Just got back, could not have been better. Every thing is as advertised ,no suprises. The unit was perfect for three couples. Every thing you need is there. Mark provides a great info packet on the area that really helps. If you are looking for quiet this is the place to go. No crowd at the pool or beach . If you are looking for action Rum Point is just 15 minutes away, best of both worlds. I would rent this unit again in a heartbeat
The condo itself is more than you could ask for. The owners have done a great job of providing everything from utensils to pool floats. The view is one that you will never get tired of. If you are coming from the US be aware our dollar is worth less here and the Canadian dollar does even worse. That and the fact that most stuff here is imported makes things a bit more expensive but I’ll pay it for the beauty of the island. Bioluminescent Bay is a must see. I can almost guarantee there is nothing like it in the continental US. Starfish Point and swimming with the turtles were also highlights of the trip. Thanks to Mark and Christie for sharing their piece of paradise.
The condo itself was clean, colorful, and spacious as shown in the pictures. The owners had a rule about keeping the thermostat set at 74 degrees or higher; they even had an electronic device that monitored the thermostat (and we are not sure what else it might have been monitoring). We had some trouble sleeping at night with that temperature setting. When we set the thermostat below 74, the owners emailed us to set it back up. They said that they had previously had trouble with the unit freezing up at lower temperature settings; they probably need to invest in a new A/C unit. The pool was a good size and well maintained. The ocean in front of the condo was not always as pictured. In fact, on most days the inner protected area inside of the volcanic rock and two man-made side walls was full of seaweed and some debris. Note that there is a slope from the beach down to the water (around 5-6 feet at the steepest point) that is not evident from the pictures. The ocean outside of the volcanic rock area was usually pretty wavy. We were afraid to go out there most days for fear of being slammed against the rocks. There was one day during the week (we were there in mid-December) when the wind and tides shifted, the protected area mysteriously cleared up, and the area outside of the volcanic rock was calm. We were able to snorkel on that day just outside of the volcanic rock wall. The water was crystal clear, calm, and around 3-4 feet deep. We saw many pretty fish. The rest of the week we enjoyed exploring many other beaches, restaurants, and other sites on the island. We snorkeled several different places. Our favorite beach that we visited was Governor's Beach on the south side of the island. Other than driving on the left side (stressful for us Americans), we found the people to be friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke English (with varying accents), and we felt safe wherever we ventured. Overall, the condo made a good home-base for exploring the island, but did not have the best beach access itself. The thermostat issue was a problem at night, but not during the day.
As soon as we walked through the door we were in paradise! The condo was even better than it looks in the pictures. Very comfortable for our family of five. The owners are extremely helpful in providing you with the information on what to do and where to eat during your stay. We had a blast and ate my delicious meals. And after each fun filled day came back to relax in this perfect home! We will definitely be back!!
This was the first time using Home Away and it won't be the last. Communicating with the owner, Mark, was easy and very helpful. The condo is in a strategic area on The North Side, close to everything and still very peaceful and quiet. The place is very spacious, 3 bedrooms each with its own bathrooms, the kitchen well equipped, the balcony big enough for all 5 of us adults and a little one year old. They accommodated us with the requested crib as well. There are books, games, plenty of towels and really everything you need. Bring your own shampoo, that's all. Unfortunately it was the seaweed season (June through August) and we weren't able to swim in the resort lagoon, but no problem at all because we were quite active exploring this beautiful island and all it has to offer. If you chose to stay here, which I highly recommend, Mark will send you all info needed to guide you in spending your time well. Of course it is always nice to do your own research and just enjoy Grand Cayman. Yes, a rental car is necessary and don't be afraid, it isn't hard to drive on the other side. Caymanians are so nice and helpful, we really enjoyed ourselves and made memories for a lifetime. Thank you Mark and Christie, we are planning to be back. Rozalia and family.
We all loved our stay at Old Man Bay! Close enough to Rum Point but quiet and peaceful location. Condo itself is very nice, with pool and lagoon to swim. Communication and working with owners was smooth and easy.
After looking at several properties, narrowing it down to about 4 or 5 and then choosing this unit and paying to reserve it, we figured out it was the same place we stayed 9 years ago. There were different owners than now but everything else was the same except this time there were 6 of us and 4 first time. The unit is meant to hold 6 and it does so comfortably. There is a crib in the 3rd bedroom which decreases the space available in that room. It would be better if it was placed in the MB. It didn’t affect us but may someone else. The unit was clean and ready for use when we arrived. There is a working elevator which makes taking your luggage up easier. If you are staying anywhere on the island other than Seven Mile Beach area you will need a car. So if you are renting a car you should consider staying here. Out of the way on the north side but near enough to Rum Point, grocery store, dive shops, restaurants and sights. There are 2 small places to eat within walking distance that serve great food for a surprisingly affordable price. Other parts of the island are a moderate drive away. The unit has a washer/dryer. AC works well. Owner does not want temp set lower than 74 but that is low enough to keep the unit more than comfortable. The outside property is well kept. There is a sandy beach that is great for sitting in the sun or shade. The rocky shore is great for older kids to explore. The little lagoon is nice but is not much for anything except ambiance. The pool is well maintained. There are a bunch of beach chaise loungers but some of them are a little tired and used. There was never a time the beach was crowded or there wasn’t a chair to use. There is no way to enter the water on this beach besides the lagoon. Too rocky with waves and current. There is a grill of sorts. It’s actually a smoker grill. We used an aluminum roasting pan on a support bed to get the coals closer to the grill and it worked fine. If we ever did another trip to G.C. we wouldn’t hesitate to come back to On the Bay condos. It’s worth every $ we spent to stay here.
We had a fantastic time. This Condo is located on the more quiet, secluded North side of the Island which was perfect for us. We had three adult couples in our group who enjoyed lounging here by the pool, preparing our own meals and taking day trips in our rental van around the Island. The condo could not have been more perfect for us. We all had our own bedroom and bathroom and the living room and dining room were very spacious. From our experience traveling, and VRBOing in the Caribbean, this unit is definitely a 5-Star Condo, with waterfront views, easy access to the pool, a well stocked kitchen, and all the conveniences of home. It's location is convenient to all of the major attractions. Communications with our host were also excellent. We are already planning our return trip for next year.
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at On the Bay! The condo was very clean and felt like home. The view was beautiful. The weather during our stay wasn't the best, but we enjoyed coming home at the end of the day to relax at the condo. They had cards and dominoes which we played in the evenings! We used some snorkel gear from the condo to swim in the lagoon out front. Even with waves crashing behind the sea wall, we were able to snorkel and swim in our own lagoon. There were quite a few fish varieties! This option would be great if you are traveling with children, but we enjoyed it too! Unfortunately, the windy weather may have brought in a few trash items from the ocean so I would encourage the condo owners to have the management clean the bottom of the lagoon on occasion so as to keep the snorkeling area looking good. The condo needs a better can opener, but the manager said she would take care of it. We didn't find any beach chairs in the condo, and this would have been nice. Unfortunately, I didn't want to bother the manager and when we ran into her at the end of the stay she said they do have beach chairs....you just need to request them! oh well!! At the condo there is plenty of seating, but if you are going to check out the multitude of beaches (and you should!) definitely bring a chair (if you're older like us it is a must). There is air conditioning, but it still felt a little warm at times. It was windy and we would have opened the slider onto the porch, but there was no screen door (the one panel there didn't go across the opening) But it was a minor issue for us! The condo is located on the north side of the island and it is definitely quiet which is what we wanted. It was close to Rum Point and Starfish Point. It is a 40 minute trip to the west side of the island where 7 mile beach, and the turtle center are, but the drive is pleasant. The condo is also located right near the Cayman caverns and the Botanical Gardens. We enjoyed these side trips. There is also a Fosters Mini Mart located 7 minutes from the condo and a liquor store in the same plaza (I think it was Moritts plaza). This was handy! The attractions are $$ but since the weather wasn't great they were worth it. All the islanders were friendly and we felt so safe. We would recommend this condo to others. Book your stay and enjoy On the Bay!
Loved this condo unit! Stayed here over Christmas/New Year with my family of four (includes two teenagers). Our favorite things: 1. The view in the photo is exactly what I saw every morning while enjoying breakfast. It is really that close and that perfect. 2. There were only 12 units in the complex - we never had to share the beach or pool, it was like we had our own place! 3. Lots of space inside so we didn't get on each other's nerves. The teens were happy to each have their own bedroom and bathroom. I was thrilled to not have to share a bathroom with either of them. We saved money by making breakfast and some other meals in the condo - they had all appliances and dishes we needed. 4. It was nice to stay away from the activity of town & 7 Mile Beach, but we could easily drive there. 5. Easy and close access to everything on the island. A car is important here but everything is easy to access and there is no traffic on this part of the island. Beautiful sunrise 10 minutes to the east (Colliers Beach), perfect sunsets 10 minutes to the west (Rum Point). 6. The sheltered lagoon in front protected us from the Christmas Winds and waves they brought. My teens enjoyed snorkeling right in the lagoon (in addition to everywhere else on the island). Tip: we bought snorkels & masks from Amazon and brought with us. Kids used them every day. They also sell them at Rum Point, but you will pay more. 7. Mark was really helpful with getting info to us and patient with my questions leading up to the trip. All in all, great experience, and I would love to stay here again. This would work really well for 3 couples or a family with more kids since there is so much space. Wishing now that we were back again...
This condo was wonderful - clean, roomy and away from the crowds on Seven Mile Beach. It has a private beachfront and small cove that's perfect for families or couples wanting to relax. Rum Point is 5-10 minutes away - great snorkeling and food and drink are easily available. There are wonderful restaurants near the condo or you have the option of cooking dinner at home. The drive to Georgetown is very manageable.
Our stay at On the Bay was perfect. If you are looking for a quiet beach side condo view a great view this is the place. The owners were very accommodating and answered all our questions and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Dining options in the Island are great (albeit a little pricey compared to US). The food was great close to this condo. We enjoyed Tukka and the Italian Kitchen both a short 10 minute drive away. Rum Point was fun as well. Just try to hit it when the cruise ship crowd is not there. We were at Rum Point when that crowd was there. After 3 o'clock they all had to leave and we basically had the place to ourselves. Fat Fish Adventures took us out for a 4 hour cruise - Stingray City - Snorkelling over a reef - Starfish beach all were a great time. Ask for Captain Pete. Back to the condo - sitting at the pool as the waves roll in and the wind blows through the palm trees. Really what could be better??? The view from the patio of this unit is great and like other reviews have stated you sometimes feel like you are the only people on the property. On the Bay probably has only a dozen units so it is not crowded. Condo has everything you could want and wifi is solid in case you have to stay connected. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is the place.
We (3 adults and 3 children - 16, 8 & 2yrs) enjoyed our stay in Old Man Bay to the max. It was the perfect location, size, view and weather. We decided to go for a picnic someone on the east end, drove around and then realized we knew the perfect place... our condo. W had lunch at the gazebo, then had the pool and lagoon to swim and play. Thank you for allowing us to stay here and enjoy quiet Island life, and yet hit all the busy spots. We ate at Tukka's (they feed the birds at 5pm) and at Over the Edge. Went snorkeling, went to Hell, stingray city, dolphins, turtles, played on 7 mile beach , blow holes, starfish point, Rum point. I think we went to every corner of the Island. And always had a comfy, safe and relaxing place to go home at the end of the day. Check it out yourself, you'll be happy you did. Eight days of fun. April 2, 2016
What a wonderful vacation rental! We stayed here March 12-19, 2016. Our group consisted of 3 couples, ages 40's & 50's. We absolutely loved everything about this condo on Old Man Bay. The interior was even prettier and roomier than the online photos. The view is gorgeous, overlooking the pool, lagoon and ocean. The condo was clean and comfortable as well. Loved lounging at the pool & snorkeling in the lagoon every afternoon, and saw only two other people on the property our entire week there! So, it felt like a private retreat. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware, dish soap, spices, etc, even small coolers to pack our lunches! There were extra beach towels although we didn't need them also. The internet, tv and a/c all worked perfectly. The grounds were immaculate and beautiful. We felt the price was very fair considering all we got for our money. Amy was quick to answer any questions before we left home, and mailed a packet of info detailing not only their rules for the condo, but also info about restaurants and attractions. We are avid snorkelers, so we snorkeled various areas around the island every day. We also took a tour to Stingray City, spent a full day walking the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Botanical Gardens & Blue Iguana Program, and spent an afternoon shopping the flea market and shops along the harbor. Our favorite restaurant was Tukka! You will need a car as this condo approx. a 30 minute drive from Georgetown, and there is only one or two restaurants within walking distance. We have rented vacation rentals about a dozen times in the past, at various islands & US states. This one was our favorite of all and we plan to return as soon as possible! The snorkeling was phenomenal. Although the water isn't quite as clear as some of the locations we've been too, the number and variety of fish and coral was among the best, and we got to swim with sea turtles and sting rays several times.
Three sisters and their husbands made up our group. We had a wonderful time. The condo was as it was described but is bigger than the pictures show. We had 3 people in the kitchen cooking together. The living room was very good sized for 6 people. The beach was private and quiet as was the surrounding area. Rum Point, with Red Sail Adventures and Stingray City departures, was 10 min. away, restaurants were easy driving distances from the condo. The Tuesday Night Buffet and Dance on the beach at Kaibo is a romantic evening. Thank You for sharing your home with us.
We stayed at this property December 20 through December 27, 2015. The condo was excellent, very clean, and had very nice high ceilings and tile floors. Everything about the condo seemed to be high quality and sturdy construction. Everything was in good working condition and the grounds surrounding the condo were well maintained. The view from the condo of the pool, beach, and ocean was great. We enjoyed the quiet, peaceful, and uncrowded aspects of this location. We liked all we saw of Grand Cayman. All the people we met on the island were very nice and helpful. We felt totally safe and comfortable at all times. The owners, Amy & Tony, were very good to work with and promptly responded to all our questions as we were preparing for the trip. We would highly recommend this property.
Our group of 3 ladies stayed in Paradise for 10 days (April 20-29, 2015) and absolutely fell in love with Grand Cayman! The condo was just as described and the view was amazing. We enjoyed days lounging in the sun at the pool and listening to the sounds of the ocean. The condo was well equipped with everything we might need for the week. We enjoyed the quiet location as if we had the island to ourselves. We traveled to SMB for dinner a couple of nights. Ate twice at Sunshine Grille-highly recommend the fish tacos and pain killer. Also went to Kaibo Grill on the water a couple of nights for food and drinks. Loved the view from the beachside tables! Highly recommend Captain Dexter for Stingray City visit. Thanks Tony and Amy for sharing your beautiful home with us, we hope to return soon!!
My husband, our almost two year old daughter, and I stayed for a week at this beautiful property and had an amazing time. The condo is absolutely beautiful, everything is clean and brand new looking, and really nicely decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped. We had more than enough room for just the three of us. In fact we kept saying we should have brought both sets of grandparents with us there would have been room for everyone! The property itself is VERY quiet. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway this is the place. We only saw other people every once in awhile and almost always had the lagoon to ourselves. The main reason we chose this property was the little lagoon on the beach created by a coral wall. We thought it would be the perfect place for our daughter to play. It ended up being perfect as we were there on a particularly windy week but the lagoon was very calm and peaceful. As the mom of a toddler I can say while I certainly didn't expect the condo to be child proofed, there was not much for her to get into. No stairs (inside the condo) to fall down and although we didn't allow her on the patio by herself I think she probably would have been safe out there as the railings were tall and close together. So it was the perfect spot for the three of us. Rum Point is nearby and worth checking out but we mainly played in the lagoon all week. Amy & Tony, the owners, were very accomodating. The packet they send in the mail has all the info you could possibly need. In fact their directions to the condo were better than google. For some reason google had the address as down the road a bit and once we referenced the directions they had sent us we found the property no problem. They answered all our questions we had before hand and even contacted us while we were there to let us know they were going to be on the island at the end of our stay there if there were any issues with the unit (which there wasn’t). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful, serene getaway and would not hesitate to stay there again if we ever find ourselves back on Grand Cayman.
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation this is the place. The condo is in amazing condition, clean and completely stocked with everything you need. There was only 2 other families on the premises so it felt like we had our own private beach and pool. We will definitely be back.
We truely feel this is the best location on the island...............very nice condo with all the perks. Very relaxing............didn't want to leave. We 4 do a girls vacation once a year and this I think is my favorite island so far, and definetly nicest condo all around. Stingray City is a must and so is Tukka restuarant. Rum point is close and a must see. I would definetly recommend this perfect condo with everything you can possibly need to make some nice meals in the spacious well equipped kitchen. The patio has a beautiful view, nice and relaxing and in the perfect location. A rental car is a must if you want to do day trips thru out the island, there is so much to do and see. The botanical gardens were also beautiful.
The listing description and the previous review say it all. This is a perfect location and fully equipped! Clean, quiet, comfortable with beautiful views. We (four women from 40-60 years) enjoyed the lagoon and pool and the curly tailed lizards and tree frogs, the botanical gardens nearby were fabulous, spent some time at Rum point for snorkeling, there are other sites at public beaches along the north shore.. and the must see.. Stingray City! For a very special dinner out, Tukka has great food! Amy and Tony were very helpful and responsive with our questions before the trip. I highly recommend this location!
We did a lot of shopping on the internet looking for accommodations for six! This place just jumps out at you and on arrival it was even more impressive. Perfectly located for breath taking views, quiet surroundings and convenience to site seeing, shopping, swimming/snorkelling or just laying about in the sun. More than enough room for six, well appointed furnishings and very convenient parking. We wanted to fly fish for bone fish and we could do that right in front of the condo! It just doesn't get better then that! If our crew decides to go back to the Caymans this is the place we will be staying at.
We stayed for 10 days and had beautiful weather. The condo has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. There were times when we were the only ones on the beach or by the pool.i really liked the idea of being on the quiet side of the island. Being only 15 min. Drive from rum point beach was a real plus. Thanks Amy and Tony
This year was the fifth vacation my gal pals and I have taken, four of those trips to Grand Cayman. We do not vacation for nightlife or activities; we go for sun, rest, peace and quiet. We've previously stayed on the East End, but decided to try something different, and rented Cayman Paradise on the Bay. Oh my, what a lovely place. It fit all of our criteria for a perfect vacation - and more! The condo is lovely and the beach is large and clean. The little cove in the ocean is a terrific bonus; a great place to swim in the shallows without waves, but the wall around out hosts all types of sea creatures, too. If you are looking for a lovely place to vacation, far away from the madness of Seven Mile Beach, I highly recommend Cayman Paradise on the Bay. Oh, and Amy, the owner, was terrific to deal with - that was another lovely surprise!
My husband and I decided to book a belated honeymoon at Cayman Paradise on the bay in early December. We don’t like big hotels and wanted something that would give us convenience and comfort. We had never rented an apartment before and after reading all of the wonderful reviews decided to give it a try. The booking process could not have been easier dealing directly with the owners Amy and Tony. We had never visited Cayman before and we were so surprised and delighted with all of the information Amy sent us not only about the condo but also such useful information about the island prior to our arrival. Once we arrived at the condo, we opened the door and the first thing we saw was the amazing view. The photos do not do the magnificent view justice. After we were done taking in the amazing view, we walked around the apartment and could not believe how clean and well-kept it is. It feels like you are in your own home. The apartment is in Old Man Bay, an area that is away from all of the busy tourist traps. It is such a safe place to stay that we had no problem walking over to the local restaurant in the evening. If you like the busier areas, it is just a quick ride to the other side of the island. The island is truly beautiful and has so many things to offer. My husband is not a beach person but the beaches are so peaceful that we found ourselves at a different beach every day. I can’t say enough about the apartment and the island. I highly recommend staying here. We are already booked for next year.
We spent several weeks here this summer and loved this place! This condo is spacious, clean, and well appointed. The pictures and listing information were spot on but I was even more impressed once we arrived. The view was blissful! It was quiet and peaceful. The grounds for this complex were well kept and beautiful. While we enjoyed trying beaches all over Grand Cayman we loved staying on the North Side at this condo. The master suite is very nice and has a king sized bed and the master bath is wonderful. The large jetted tub was a hit with my kids after a long day at the beach! The complex pool is nice and was always clean and well maintained. There are plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and on the beach. The sunsets are spectacular and relaxing from this beach. While in Cayman we swam with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove, visited Stingray City a few times, and visited the Turtle Farm. All of these activities are awesome and very family friendly. The owners communicated with us before our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. They care and want you to have a great visit. We felt at home in this condo and loved everything about it. I highly recommend this condo!
We enjoyed this condo and our stay in Grand Cayman very much. The condo is in great condition and well kept. Everything was as advertised. Photos are well representative of the actual place. Two couples shared it and all four individuals were well pleased. The area is very quiet, yet close enough to good restaurants and bars and north and east end features. Activities on 7 mile beach can be close to an hour away but that didn't seem a problem.. You will need a car. The owners were very communicative and a pleasure to deal with.
Three couples rented this property for a 7 day vacation and it worked out beautifully! We each had our own bedroom and bath, and all the conveniences of home with full kitchen and washer/dryer which came in very handy, especially when one of the gals didn't get her luggage for three days! We snorkeled every day, found some great restaurants nearby, a fishing guide for the men for a morning (that even cooked us lunch with their catch). Visited Rum Point Beach twice and drove into 7 mile beach for a day as well. Owners provided us with a lot of helpful information up front. Would definitely consider staying here again if we return to the Caymans!
The landlord was great to work with and is a very concerned owner. This beautiful condo is on 2nd floor with elevator; The view overlooks the pool and break water inlet and ocean waves. The interior walls between bedrooms, up and below are very soundproof with no noise at all. The quality within the facility is top notch. We had plenty of towels and pool towels enough for 7 people. We popped the cork the first night for a romantic bottle of wine on the patio to celebrate the find of such a classy condo. The temperature was 85 in the daytime and 72 at night and hardly any bugs here. I hate bugs so this was important to be be 99% bug free on the deck. The Master Bath is huge with the double sinks split apart and jet tub and shower and a large closet. The condo has large tile floors with one rug in the living room. The satellite (Dish) worked great and the music thats provided was great for 50-60's, we loved it. The wi-fi hooked up great allowing access if we wanted back to check our mail. The parking lot had plenty of space, all common area's were picked up and maintained nice. There is a charcoal grill/smoker with spotlite and fire extinguisher provided. We emailed the owner and let them know when we were planning to depart which was a saving grace thing for us. We had left the passports in the bathroom vanity and had locked the doors as instructed. We returned in 20 minutes and the maid was there and assisted us to retrieve our departure documents. Guess we were not ready to leave the island. There is a cafe for locals around the corner called Kurts Korner, you must try the food, it is really good Cayman style, not much to look at but you can walk to it and have some great drinks too. This is a great place to stay and its away from tourists, 30 minutes to the airport or 7 Mile Beach. Rum Point is 10 minutes away. There are 7 restaurants close enough to the condo by car that have good food, some more reasonable than others. Try the Lighthouse Italian restaurant it has a special Taste of Italy that includes dessert for $18USD and is very very good, with a new lighted pier, call for reservations as it does get busy as the chef is outstanding. You will pass this place on the way to the condo. Our thanks to owners Tony and Amy for allowing us to use their home in paradise, it is great.
Dont let the age of the previous reviews distract you to another condo; The owners have done an excellent job of maintaining the property to where it is NOT dated. This 5 star rating is well earned. When you arrive t the pristine grounds you can sense you made the right choice. Open the front door and you can see out the back slider to the ocean, its spectacular! The furnishings are very nice and it seems like its 2000 sq feet of space with 3 bathrooms and bedrooms, dining area with 6 chairs, 2 couches, 2 easy chairs. This is the place! Having an inlet is very unique as it is excellent for snorkeling plus if you have kids it is a safe space out of the main currents. They no longer allow these tide pools to be made here on the Grand Cayman. When we took an aerial trip we went around the island and this condo building stands out from the rest, its classy and well mantained. The owners care about you and their facility. Parking is great with plenty of room and there is a nice elevator if you dont want to walk up one story. The bedrooms are so quiet, no noise from below or above or the adjacent rooms, very well built. There are 12 units in all and no ajacent condo's. There is a local restaurant in walking distance that serves great Cayman food and the drinks are superb (Kurts Korner). The locals are friendly and much of the wait staff at most restaurants come from cities worlwide. You will love this place.
This was our first trip to Grand Cayman and I had no idea where to stay on the island. I managed to pick the perfect location for our family vacation with our adult children. The condo has every all the conveniences we hoped for, and the location was perfect. Away from the crowds on the west side of the island and close to snorkeling, diving, grocery stores and amazing restaurants. The complex is quiet and offered great views of the ocean as well as a swimming pool and small beach and cove. We also used the community barbeque a couple of nights which was great. The condo is updated and roomy. The layout worked perfectly for us with our adult childen: plenty of space for everyone. We are already planning our return trip!
WE LOVED IT! Everythig we needed and wanted all at our finger tips. Peace, quiet, sun, sand, surf, pool and family time! The condos are very quiet and the locals that live next door very friendly! The first 2 days we had the entire location to ourselves and we loved it. We have daughters, and while they are teenagers, we still worry when we are at hotels if they are off by themselves. Well not here! We felt safe and secluded. It was our own private paradise! Our daughters had a blast and so did we. The kitchen had everything we needed, except a large stock pot but that was no problem we just used 2! The condo was clean and the balcony has an amazing view. We really enjoyed being away from the touristy areas, its what we look for when we plan our vacations. The swimming cove is perfect and the temperature inviting. Our vacation was a huge success and we have already started planning for our return. I would reccommed this condo to anyone! Fair price, beautiful location! It was indeed perfect! Can't wait to go back!
We loved our stay at this condo! Could write a paragraph selling the Grand Caymans as your vacation destination. If you do go, this is an incredible deal for the price. The elevator on site was helpful for my aunt with a bad knee, was nice to be on the 2nd floor and get the ocean views! The place was incredibly equipped, with just a few minutes of looking you could find almost anything, matches, an ironing board and iron, big soup pot, etc. But the place is not cluttered, you have plenty of space to spread out. The beds were all very comfortable, nice linens and towels too. We went for a family wedding, relatives stayed at the Reef. We all decided we picked the better option, way more quiet and peaceful, and much less expensive. It was fun to travel the 5 miles to the Reef Resort and get some blender drinks, enjoy their beach, then drive away back to ‘paradise on the beach’. Even though the owners are not on site, they are able to handle things from afar. We had an electrical glitch with the air conditioning unit, and they were able to coordinate the fix in a very timely manner. We were super pleased to have a kitchen, helped us save some money not eating out every night. We enjoyed games at the table, looking out over the deck and watching the waves hit shore. The glass bottom boat ride at Rum Point out to the Sting Ray sandbar was one of our highlights, was very affordable compared to other trips, and the staff took our cameras and snapped about a dozen photos. We have nothing bad we could say about this condo, book it!
We researched numerous condos, locations and prices before selecting this condo. We were not disappointed! My husband, myself, our two young sons along with my parents and my sister stayed a week in July. We all agreed this was the best choice! We had two other groups of family stay at condos on seven mile beach - traffic, noisy, crowded, expensive, touristy, tiny condos, limited parking. Yuck. When we compared our choice to theirs, we all agreed we made a better choice staying at On the Bay condo in Old Man Bay. Paradise was on the north side at this condo! On the Bay offers a beautiful, peaceful authentic Cayman experience. We felt like we had our own private pool, protected cove and beach. Plenty of shade under the gazebo & palm trees and plenty of chairs. We were never a far walk from the condo, vehicle, pool or beach which was a blessing with two children in tow. The condo is spacious, clean and well equipped. There was plenty of room inside and on the balcony. Three bathrooms are a plus too! Beds and furniture were comfortable, no complaints. The Master Bedroom and bathroom were awesome. Our son slept on an air mattress we brought in the large master bedroom. We didn't have to move it all week because the room is so large. One of the back bedrooms is darker and perfect for those late sleepers, while the other one offers a beautiful morning sun for the early risers. The elevator was great with luggage and groceries, check for the cart under the stairs. Maintenance does an awesome job everyday of keeping up with the property grounds. Several times that week my son and I went for early morning beach walks in search of fish, snails, turtles and hermit crabs. Look for turtles nesting on the north side. The coral is incredible, but wear water shoes or sandals on the unspoiled beach. We had the privilege of meeting Ann the Turtle Lady. She invited us along with several other guests in the area to participate in a baby turtle release. At about 8:30pm under a full moon we released a dozen baby turtles on the beach. You can't get that experience at the turtle farm or on seven mile beach! A vehicle is a must. Loved rum point and kaibo beaches. Ask about the star fish beach - large red and orange star fish right off the shore. Town, shopping & other attractions are nearby. Loved Vivine's and Over the Edge restaurants. Good affordable, local food. Overall this condo and area was a best choice for us. We loved it. Thank you Amy and Tony
We, two couples, stayed here from 3/22/2011 to 3/29/2011. First of all a comment needs to be made about the cost of staying here versus probably anywhere else on G.C. The cost benefit ratio is HUGE. A super place, great view, a balcony for early morning coffee, totally private bedrooms, huge master bath, a well stocked kitchen and more. There were 4 of us in a three bedroom condo and 6 of us would have been equally comfortable. I did a lot of shopping and to find a better place, one would be hard pressed. If you are staying anywhere other than the 7 mile beach area, you will need a car to get around. A well stocked sub-store of a large supermarket (Fosters) is a 10 minute drive down the road. There are multiple beaches to go to but the snorkeling overall was only mediocre. We aren't divers so we don't have an opinion on diving The Wall. Rum Point which is down the road is probably the best beach for full service and rum punches. A must is a trip to swim with the rays and you can do that from Rum Point. (No private food or drink allowed on this beach. The Beer Police will make you pour it out if caught.) A great restaurant nearby is The Edge. Breakfast from 8 AM and great evening dining also. We generally eat in so we don't have reviews of many restaurants. A word of advice about alcohol. Buy it in the duty free store before going to GC. It is a better deal. Lesson learned for us. The owners were helpful and communicative except for some arrival information. This was easily resolved with a phone call and all was right after that. The listing photos were accurate but do not do the place justice. The condo was immaculate on our arrival. We would come back for a repeat stay but there are so many more places to see in the Caribbean. We hope our next place is this good.
Our vacation was AMAZING. The condo was so beautiful, and I am so happy that we found it. The owner played a huge part in making our Christmas a success, and I can't tell you how much I appreciated all of her help and kindness. We relaxed on the beach, went to rum point, snorkeled, went fishing (we actually caught lobster and barracuda, brought it back to the house and cooked it the same day! I have never had such delicious fish), explored the east end, and went to 7 mile beach for a day. We have been raving about our experience to everyone! Renting a car is required when staying on the north side, and we had great success through Andy's. There is no doubt in my mind that staying on the quieter side of the island is the way to go. Seven Mile Beach is a nice place to visit, but when the cruise ships come in the place is crazy. The north side seems much more authentic. Make sure you look up Captain Herman and His brother Nevill for a great fishing experience. I would also highly recommend trying the fish escovitched at Over the Edge restaurant (less than a 5 min drive away), a cocktail or two at Rum Point, and dinner upstairs at Kaibo for fine dining.
