Surrounded by native bamboo forest and overshadowed by the towering Grand Ridge of the Blue Mountains, this escape into nature. A vision a decade and a half in the making, the Bamboo Grove Camp Site caters to genuine nature lovers who want to get away from the frenetic urban setting to be either pampered (catered to) or to be immersed in all aspects of the outdoors -backpacking adventure, DIY lifestyle and camping/tenting. Managed for conservation, the biota is spared toxins from pesticides and other fertilizers, the site has a low carbon footprint, water is rain harvested and lighting solar powered. Perhaps what makes the Bamboo Grove Camp so unique is the sense of secure seclusion while being in the wild. The property enjoys a special relationship with the surrounding community who are very supportive, as the Retreat is not only an important source of employment but also their pride and joy which they unreservedly share with visitors.
Accommodation on the site is provided by a 2-story dormitory and tenting for 30 persons. Common area for dining and recreation area along with a kitchen allowing for catered or U-cook options. Toilets are outdoors and the showers are open sky, There are hammocks, a balcony and an infinity stage for relaxation and viewing.
For those that love to hike or to stargaze or bird watch, this is the place to be. At the Retreat, there is so much to see and do; the site is the base camp for overnight backpacking and day hiking tours. into the forest, where the birds and the wildlife come to you. Other building on-site include an office and Cabin Electricity is solar with a gas generator as a backup; water is rain harvested and the ground provision is grown on the property (organic) or provided by local farmers.
