Rotonda is located in West Charlotte County, Florida and according to the most recent poll taken, the population here is just over 12,000. This section of Florida is part of the Punta Gorda Metro Statistical Area. Rotonda is unincorporated and is a deed restricted community. Rotonda is a total of 11.5 square miles. The weather here in Rotonda tends to be very warm, especially during the summer months. The summer months tend to be very hot and often rainy. The hottest part of the year here goes for more than four months. Between the end of May and the beginning of October the daily average high is around 86 degrees. The low for the hottest part of the year here is just around 76 degrees. The cooler part of the year lasts just about three months. From mid December until mid March the daily average high here is just about 75 degrees. The low for this time of year is a comfortable 54 degrees. The winter months are also the driest parts of the year here in Rotonda. The weather rarely goes below freezing here but during the winter there can be a little frost seen in the wee hours of the morning. This frost quickly melts when the sun comes up though. The beauty of Rotonda is the mild and dry winters. One of the many benefits to living in Rotonda is the extremely low crime rate. The crime rate here is one of the lowest in the nation so that is something to keep in mind when thinking of moving here.

The Charlotte County Public Schools serves the children in the Charlotte County, Florida region. This school district covers Rotonda, Englewood, Port Charlotte, Babcock Ranch and other areas in the Charlotte County Region. There are 10 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 3 high schools as well as 6 speciality education centers. The total enrollment across the county is just under 18,000.

Fun Things to do in Rotonda
Cape Haze Pioneer Trail Park – This nearly 8-mile trail gives you the option to walk, hike, bike or even skate. This park was once home to livestock, locally grown crops as well as the phosphate industry. The Charlotte Harbor & Northern Railroad operated here until the end of the 70’s. As time goes on there are plans to extend this trail South to the Gulf. This will connect this park with the Boca Grande Bike Path that is located on Gasparilla Island. When this expansion happens, this trail will span two coastal counties, Lee and Charlotte. As of right now the trail is a mostly straight and somewhat flat path that provides residents of the Rotonda and surrounding areas a peaceful retreat when looking to get away and take a long walk or bike ride.

Phoenix Rising Kayak Tours – If you are looking for something to do on the water then think of booking a guided kayak tour. You can paddle along the majestic waters of Charlotte Harbor with a certified Florida Master Naturalist Guide. On this tour you will get to see various types of species including but not limited to dolphins, birds and even manatees. Patrons of this guided tour have described the experience as “majestic” and “not to be missed.” Some have even had dolphins ride along side the kayaks during the tours. Rotonda Golf & Country Club – This golf club features 5 golf courses and 99 holes. One of the perks of this golf club is that it is located on the West Coast of Florida and is just minutes from the beach. So, once you are done playing a round of golf you can head right over to the beach and take a dip in the Gulf to cool off.

Real Estate in Rotonda
The Rotonda are architecture is unique as the original developers planned this area as one very large circular area. From a satellite view it looks like a large wheel with many “spokes”. The spokes are divided up into many subdivisions. A couple of the subdivisions include; Rotonda West Pine Valley and Rotonda West Pine Valley. Just outside and boarding the “wheel” are the communities of Rotonda Lakes and Rotonda Heights. This coastal neighborhood is relatively new, most of the homes have been built since the year 2000. But, there are some homes found here that were built between the years 1970 through 1999. You will find a mixture of larger three- and four-bedroom homes here as well apartment complexes featuring one or two bedrooms. This area is competitively priced for somewhere that is located very close to the water. If you are looking to build here, almost every community in the Rotonda still has vacant lots.
