About Fort Pierce:

Fort Pierce is a mid-sized city in St. Lucie County Florida on the state’s Treasure Coast. Located between Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach, Fort Pierce covers a landmass of approximately 21 square miles. and features a population of around 45,000. One of the flagship buildings in this area is the historic, beautifully restored and intimate Sunrise Theatre. The undisputed cultural hub of Fort Pierce, the 1,200 seat Sunrise Theatre Mainstage and accompanying 210 seat Black Box Theatre offers the best entertainment on the Treasure Coast of Florida.  Locals and tourists alike fill the theatre to see the best of Broadway shows, comedy acts and live music acts, ballet and opera companies with full orchestras, country stars and classic rock icons.

 

Nature lovers in the area flock to one of the premier horticultural facilities in the region in the Heathcote Botanical Gardens.  The Gardens consists of an assortment of specialty gardens including a Japanese Garden, Reflection Garden, Herb Garden, Rainforest Display, Native Plants Garden and a Palm & Cycad Walk. It has both native Florida flora as well as exotic flora from around the world

 

Schools in Fort Pierce are administered through the St. Lucie Public School District which oversees more than 40,000 students in the county. Amongst the highest rated schools in the city are: Fort Pierce Central High School, Fort Pierce Westwood High School, and Fairlawn Elementary School.

 

Fort Pierce is a diverse yet neighborly community which has retained its old Florida charm and scale, as it has welcomed new development and revitalization. The historic waterfront downtown affords residents contemporary shopping, dining, and great fishing. There’s something for everyone in this treasure of city on Florida’s Treasure Coast.
