Positioned within the Indian Trails Improvement District, Loxahatchee is a medium-sized community in Palm Beach County, Florida. It is located to the north of Wellington, west of West Palm Beach, and northwest of Royal Palm Beach. It is named after the Loxahatchee River, whose name is said to have been derived from a Seminole Indian word meaning “turtle creek.”

 

The racial and ethnic composition of Loxahatchee is very diverse. The community’s major ancestries include Irish, German, English, Italian, Jamaican and Haitian. A significant proportion of the residents are also born outside the United States. This is a nice place worth checking out if you are someone that values tranquility. A reason for this is that Loxahatchee has a somewhat lower number of families with young kids. The number of college students, another group of known noisy individuals, is also on the low side. The serene atmosphere is arguably a major reason homes here are well desired.

 

A popular neighborhood around this community is Loxahatchee Groves, a portion of Loxahatchee that was incorporated as a town in 2006 mainly to preserve its rural character and guard against invasive growth. The neighborhood is one of the best places to enjoy a calm ambiance in Palm Beach County, which is considered among Florida’s busiest urban hubs. It is highly ideal for those who value their privacy.

 

To the north and west of Loxahatchee Groves lies The Acreage, another popular community that offers a nice mix of rural and suburban living. This neighborhood is one of those around Loxahatchee that boasts a high number of foreign-born individuals, most notably those of English, Caribbean and Vietnamese ancestries. Another popular community around here is Deer Run.

 

Public primary and secondary education is provided by the School District of Palm Beach County. The schools serving Loxahatchee residents include Acreage Pines Elementary School, Loxahatchee Groves Elementary School, Golden Groves Elementary School, Osceola Creek Middle School, and Seminole Ridge Community High School.

 

The people living in Loxahatchee enjoy access to several parks and recreational facilities, including those in Loxahatchee Groves and The Acreage communities. These include Nicole Hornstein Equestrian Park, Sycamore Park and Citrus Grove Park. Loxahatchee is considered one of the most rural areas in the proximity of West Palm Beach and has a reputation for loose land restrictions. It is known for its local and exotic animals.

 

The community is home to the Lion Country Safari, a drive-through safari and amusement park on Lion Country Safari Road. Named among the world’s top 10 richest RV parks by the Travel Channel, this safari park brings the African safari experience to the state of Florida. The camping experience around here is simply extraordinary. Lion Country Safari boasts numerous facilities, including hundreds of cabins, tent and RV pull-thru sites as well as a huge playground, resort-size pool and considerably large pavilion, among others.

 

Loxahatchee is a wonderful community that offers residents a place of amazing quietude despite being located in one of the busiest areas in the state of Florida. If you place a high value on privacy, here is a place to get a lot of it.
