This is a NEW MEXICO SAFE CERTIFIED property and truly one of the most lovely and walkable neighborhoods in Santa Fe. Located in the Historic Eastside, part of Casita Establo was originally the horse stable for the compound. Today the house is a centrally located base for exploring the rich history, food, arts and cultural offerings of Santa Fe. Our 2-story, 2-bedroom, 1,500 sq. ft. house is well designed for one couple, or for two individuals or two couples to share, as the bedrooms are on separate floors and each has an adjacent full bathroom. brbrThe Casita is tastefully decorated with local artwork and artifacts and includes many amenities in the kitchen and living areas to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The first level of the classic adobe Casita has retained many traditional Santa Fe craftsman features like vigas and beam ceilings, Saltillo tile and sand-set brick floors, yet supplies all the modern conveniences you would expect to use during your stay. brbrThe bedroom on the main floor, adjacent to the kitchen is part of the original adobe, probably from the late 1800s, and was once the property's horse stable. Our house name, Casita Establo, honors that. This bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed, full bathroom and a kiva fireplace which, unfortunately, is currently not operable. The second floor was added to the original adobe structure to make a large and open master suite which includes a king size bed and a beautifully tiled combination bath and shower. The north light in this room is absolutely exquisite year around. A full wall of multi-pane windows can be opened to captured the delightfully fresh Santa Fe air or hear song birds throughout the day. There is ample room to partake in your morning yoga or meditation practice in this tranquil, light-filled upstairs retreat. brbrPlease note before booking there is one small step into the downstairs bedroom and the circular stairs leading to the second floor bedroom suite are rather steep. brbrThere are two outdoor sitting areas furnished with table and chairs for your enjoyment. The cozy and private walled entry courtyard also has a gas grill BBQ for your use. A delightful rooftop deck is accessible from the upstairs master suite. Cloud watching and star gazing encouraged!brbrIf you like to cook, you will love our well-stocked kitchen and the eclectic collection of cookbooks we encourage you to thumb through ... and use! We also have a very special book of recipes our guests have left over the years. You'll also find many useful cooking ingredients, a trove of spices, and a wide assortment of cooking pans and utensils awaiting your culinary creativity. Our kitchen, and gas BBQ, is ready for your return after shopping at the amazing Santa Fe Farmers Market just a mile away. There are also a variety of woven napkins and place mats plus many serving plates, cups and wine glasses for use throughout your stay.brbrWant to just curl up and read We have the perfect spot for that! There are comfortable chairs and a leather couch in the living room situated close to the traditional kiva fireplace which unfortunately not operable. Cool shady spots with mature trees plus blue spruce, aspen, pinon, olive and pine trees provide shade on sunny days as does a shady ramada (a native arbor). The house is air conditioned and heated throughout. One only rarely needs AC for most of the year because windows in every room provide ventilation and compfortable air flow almost year round. Enjoy meals, cocktails and conversation around the dining table for six in the shade of a ramada in another area of the gardens. The front portal offers day-long shade from our own Piñon pine and refuge during Santa Fe monsoon rains and winter snow showers.brbrIn season, savor fruit from the casita’s apple, apricot, peach and plum trees or make a cobbler. In addition to these fruit trees and the Russian olive, we have a flowering cherry, a dwarf blue spruce, a Scotch Pine, pinon, desert willow, and numerous aspen trees. These are all large, mature trees. There is a big cottonwood in our neighbor's garden that shades our ramada dining area in the mornings and early afternoons.brbrThe house and gardens are completely private and enclosed by adobe walls and coyote fences. Aspen trees line the drive along the casita’s outer wall. During the season, the gardens and landscaping are lush and are professionally maintained year-round. For your time indoors, the casita is cooled with remote-controlled air conditioners and heated by radiant in-floor and baseboard systems.brbrThis very popular property is perfect for romantic escapes, “girlfriend getaways,” art and museum jaunts, outdoor adventures or all combined. Casa Estrella is best suited for one or two couples! We have strict No Smoking and No Pets policies. The casita has several heavy metal sculptures that have sharp edges and points and also two low fountains that might pose as safety hazards to your little ones. This sweet 100-year-old adobe is situated at the back of a private compound and within minutes of the downtown Plaza and Santa Fe's hip Railyard District. Quiet, secure with a coyote-fenced-in yard and off-street parking for one car, it is also pet-friendly.brbrThe spacebrI bought this house in September 2015. It was built in the 1920's and has lots of charm. It's a true adobe home. It stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The floors are tiled or hardwood and the house is decorated with a Santa Fe flair. It also has its quirks (i.e. the doorways to the kitchen and dining room are very low. They are fine for me - I'm 5'7 but my 6' foot friends have to duck their heads - I've hung a feather in each doorway to remind you.) I have an AC/Heating split system in the bedroom for a comfortable night's sleep year-round.brbrMy home is eco-friendly (I purchase my products from Santa Fe Soap Station, an environmentally friendly shop that offers eco products for laundry, dish and hand soap, etc. where you bring your containers in for refills to cut down on plastic use.)brbrIt's my home but I also have a casita next door. For your stay I'll have drawers in the dresser and space in the closet cleared for you but you will still see a few of my things tucked in the back. Feel free to use my spices and pantry items. I don't mind. My house is inside a small compound with 4 other homes that are very nice. Mine sits at the back of the compound - hence quiet and safe. There is off-street parking, but if you have an extra big car you might have to park on the street. brbrIf you're in town for business, I have wireless internet and a desk at which to work. The second bed is a sofa bed in the living room. The living room is at the opposite end of the house from the bedroom. In the living room there is the TV and the fireplace stove so the room is cozy in the winter. Your well-behaved dog is welcome to stay too. I charge a $35 pet fee per night. Sorry no cats and no smoking. FYI, I have AC in the bedroom because that room gets a lot of sun and is warmer than the rest of the house. The rest of the house, because it is a true adobe, stays cool during the summer, but I do have portable fans as well.brbrGuest accessbrI have a fenced in yard with a picnic table and umbrella and a hammock. The covered front patio is my favorite spot for morning coffee or an afternoon drink. I have lilac bushes that bloom a couple of times a year, wisteria that blooms in the spring and purple sage in late summer and early fall. I also have an apricot and apple tree with lots of fruit every summer and fall. Feel free to pick and eat some.brbrOther things to notebrI have an outdoor chiminea (fireplace) that you're welcome to use on chilly nights. I will leave you a small stack of firewood.brbrThe bathroom offers excellent touches like a bathtub and bidet, adding a touch of luxury to your stay. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.
