The town of Red River is located in the middle of the Carson National Forest with hiking trails leading, among other places, up to Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico. The Red River Ski Area offers snow skiing and snowboarding beginning on the Thanksgiving holidays and continuing through Spring Break.
